7,006 steps yesterday. Really had to force myself to slow down a bit. Kind of funny that it was still just a hair over my goal anyway.

4752 steps yesterday.  A bit lower than the day before but still pretty good for me.  The good thing is that I am not feeling bad from the day before and that has been a problem in the past.

Today, being a Sunday, I did my TM in the evening albeit in a leisurely manner.

7,702 steps yesterday. Feeling pretty good, backing off, though hard, does feel better. Sticking around 7,000 seems to be the best goal for now.

4616 steps yesterday.  Apparently at least one study has shown that 7000 steps is the sweet spot and anything over that has diminishing results so 7000 steps for a goal is a good thing.  I can't get there anymore but like you said we do what we can do.

Interesting, I guess we all know the mythical 10,000 steps was just invented by the counter manufacturers basically. I hadn't heard, or even looked to see what "real" optimum was, I was just doing what I could, I guess with that 10,000 in the back of my brain.

I do know that at this point in my life/ability to walk, that the goal of 7,000 is much more comfortable and leaves me feeling OK the next day too. I may not always reach 7,000 and am OK with that. If I go a little over, I'm OK with that too but good to know 7,000 is just right...

7,665 steps yesterday.

I did a quick google search re # of optimum steps for my age and found 7,500.  Of course that was just one article but feels right for me. Will look a bit more if I have time today.

2950 steps yesterday.  I was doing my usual until around noon and decided that I would take it easy for the rest of the day.  I am better at taking it easy than you are Barbara!  ;D  Back to my usual today but it does seem to help to back off once in a while.
I don't have a link to the study I read about the 7000 mark but it should come up in a search.  It was done as an actual study and it had a fairly large number of people in the study.  It didn't argue against 10,000 steps just that it found that that was not necessary to get the benefit from walking.
Well, here is one that I found but a search brings up all kinds of different answers so I guess it is a pick the one you want.

Thanks Wally, I'll look at that study. All I googled was optimum steps for women over 65. I did my search last night and was tired and ready for bed so not much in depth looking. Today I'll google "studies".

7,733 steps yesterday.

I looked at a couple different studies and 7,000 - 7,500 steps looks like a good goal for me/someone my age to aim for. Good amount of movement with little risk of any age related injuries... seems like a good plan for me going forward. If I hit 7,000 great, if not that is OK too, as long as I move every hour at least.

I know I can push and do more, but I think those days have to be put in the past...

4138 steps yesterday.  I really didn't think I would get to 4K but just did it.
Yeah I was doing 10,000 steps or more a day for over 10 years after I retired and it was my form of daily exercise that I was comfortable with.  Those days are definitely over for me but like you have said we do what we can and I just think that moving is better than sitting and I am still able to manage 250 steps/hour so I am happy with that.

7,390 steps yesterday. Think I am getting the hang of this take it easier mantra! I do feel better the next day for sticking around 7,000-7,500 steps.

4548 steps yesterday.  Yeah, I think that feeling good is just as important as doing what you can.
