The printer uses some ink when it is initially set up and that is why the ink level goes down.  I used the ink left in the bottles to top off the ink tanks and it used all of it so nothing left in the bottles.
SKB apparently there are a lot of instances where other people have had to do a major cleaning because the ink does dry up in the tubes feeding the print head.  The printer has a cleaning operation that you can use to hopefully clean the clog but it uses ink to do so and the ink is collected in a tank that is for the waste.  When the tank is full the printer stops and on the model Barbara has Epson doesn't sell a replacement.  Apparently there are third party sellers that have replacement tanks but it has to be reset and that takes customer service from Epson to do it.  It is so much easier to print a page or two as a minimum each month. I am just repeating what I have seen reported by other users and have no experience with any problems but it seems to be real.

Thanks Wally! I think I'll top them off then. Do I leave the printer off while filling or turn it on? I'm so confused by all the directions that came w/printer. Just so glad I found someone that was able to set it up so quickly and easily...

You don't need to turn the printer off to fill the tanks.  I never turn the printer off.  It goes into a sleep state when it is not being used and "wakes up" when you start a print.
It's great your neighbor was able to get it set up and working.  Sometimes it just takes a little help to make it over the hurdle.

Thanks! I do turn it off at night, force of habit from old printer I guess. I'll wait until I print a couple things and then top the tanks off.

5,028 steps yesterday.

Seem to be slowing down a bit.  Maybe it is the weather, makes it too cozy bundled up in the recliner.

I don't think there is any thing wrong with turning it off but it is not necessary.  If you turn it off then when you want to print something you first have to turn the printer on and wait for it to start up. If you don't turn it off it is ready to print as soon as you click print so it's a convenience.  I leave mine on all of the time for that reason and have never had a problem.

You're going to laugh at me Wally, I went ahead and left printer turned on night before last (& last night too) but the night before I had taken the paper out and closed the feed tray. So yesterday, I went to print my Amazon delivery schedule for new order and nothing happened...no paper! LOL! Now the printer is left on WITH paper in it!

How. are you feeling these days? Hope better, miss your step posts but I know the need for rest too.

Wellllll, that can happen but now you know better.  I always try to have my printer ready to print but that is mostly because I am lazy and don't want to have to get paper and load it or go across the room to turn the printer on.  The feed tray on my printer holds 250 sheets and I fill it when it gets low!
I am actually feeling pretty good.  I have stopped trying to make a set number of steps and it has helped me.  My Apple watch does alert me if I haven't stood up in the hour so I am getting that done but I am not trying to get the 250 steps the Fitbit wanted.  At least I am not sitting for a long time without getting up. My total steps for the day have been running around 2000-2500 and not enough to be posting about and I have been OK with that.

Glad to hear you are feeling better! My steps are nothing to write home about and I am OK also with whatever the number is. I also use the. reminder from Fitbit to get up and move if I haven't yet that hour. The days of 20,000+ steps are long gone and even consistent 7-8,000 I think. And I am OK with that too.

It just feels kind of lonely being the only one consistently posting here...

Yeah I do understand that it is kind of lonely being the only one posting and I feel bad about that but I just can't seem to do any better and when I was posting I was pushing harder than I could deal with so I decided to quit posting.  Yeah the 20,000 steps days and the 10,000 steps days are apparently gone forever.  When I started back to counting and posting my steps I was managing 4000 and even sometimes 5000 steps and thought that it would get even better but I finally just couldn't do it.  Well that is what it is like to be 81 years old I guess.  I saw a T-shirt the other day that said "I don't know how to act my age, I have never been this old before".  That is where I am now.

6,527 steps yesterday.

Just doing household things. Long gone are the pushing to get high number days. My only goal per se is to be sure to move around some each hour.

I've been building new shelters out of the huge Chewy boxes to replace the ones ruined by the rains. These are a little better than the first ones I made. I'm covering them with cut up shower curtains and taping it securely down, put them on plastic and turn on the side so they can walk in. Then putting rags and old clothes inside for them to cuddle on. Sometimes there are 4 cats snugged inside! Still trying to figure out what to do when Winter is really here.

I have an unused shed that would work, but making it raccoon and skunk proof is the problem. Plus it needs lots of cleanup. Well, it is something to do...
