Well, I think the gas would tend to rise higher to the ceiling and evaporate, but even then, it could have some effect.

It was probably the Carbon Monoxide. Does that rise too? The gas smell dissapated, but CO is odorless I believe. Whatever, I do feel better so something was affecting me...

8,267 steps yesterday. Feeling pretty good. Did a quick grocery run while I was out taking garbage up to road.

Not to discount what you said skb, but my bedroom is directly across a narrow hall from the furnace. My bed is situated against a northern wall which puts my head about 8' from the furnace directly in line of sight. There isn't a lot of space for anything to evaporate before I could breathe some of it in. Yes, it probably does dissipate quickly, and that is probably why I am still upright, just was slowly getting affected.

Yeh carbon monoxide is a very serious problem from faulty gas heaters and has been responsible for many deaths.  It is a silent killer.  The smell from the gas is put into the gas to alert you that there is a problem but CO does not have any smell and can be very dangerous.

I did look it up on ChatGPT and yes CO poisoning from leakages does happen as Wally says. It's good that you have a brand new furnace and surely you will feel better and better each day.

Quiet day, no idea how hectic today would be, so took it easy yesterday.

8,011 steps yesterday.

So nice to have central heat again!!

An added bonus was I got 2 huge heavy duty boxes to make new shelters for the kitties. One is really tall and narrowish so on its side I divided it into 3 "rooms".  The other a big square box, several kitties can easily fit together in it. They just have to explore them and "approve" them.   ~ cat ~   ~ cat ~   ~ cat ~

Building the houses is where a lot of the steps came in.... Today I am going to have to go out and get more dry cat food, so very quick grocery run. Need to go back to the 30# bags from Chewy, no one local carries that size. Then will just mix in some of the fancy flavors for 16# bags.

Glad you got the new heater installed and working Barbara.  That has to be a relief.

Congrats.

I haven't been looking at steps the past few days as we are busy nursing mom. Her room is one floor above so there are multiple trips up and down throughout the day.

7,115 steps yesterday,

Quick grocery run for cat kibbles and PO to mail property tax payment. Then just tried to relax.

6,360 steps yesterday.

I had to go out once again for cat kibble. Friday, my regular store only had one 16# bag and hadn't ordered any more (that was why I waited as shipment was supposed to be in the 16th). I was hoping that would get me through until Monday when Chewy arrives. But Friday and Saturday feedings took care of most of that & I wouldn't have enough for all of Sunday and Monday morning. A bit ticked off at original store so I went to the one further away late Sat. afternoon.  I got one more bag. They had tons of bags! Frustrating!

Changed up Chewy autoships to every 3 weeks and that should cover me w/out any local purchases needed. Man oh man, do these cats eat a lot!!

Tried to take it easy yesterday as today 3 big boxes come from Chewy. They will have to be unloaded and brought in so lots of lifting. 1-30# bag, 2-22# bags, 2-16# bags and 3 cases of wet food.  This is on an every 3 week schedule, will see how it works and may tweak it a bit later. Total cost is still less than what I was spending with augmented food from grocery store. Hopefully won't have to buy any food locally any more which saves a lot of extra lifting!

Other than that no plans for anything besides feeding the kitties.
