5,614 steps yesterday.

Did some work outside, just picking up small branches. Most of the steps were inside. Hopefully more today.

Mostly walking inside. I rebuilt one cat shelter on the side porch for a shady spot for the cats as the wind really tore it up. Several of the cats like to take naps in there. That was it for me being outside!

Today will probably be about the same. It is looking like our wet Spring is bringing on a very dangerous fire season!

I spent several hours in front of the TV. Women's gymnastics is my favorite event of the Olympics! Having been a competitive gymnast (went to the Nationals trials) back in the age of the dinosaurs (early 70's), it just blows my mind to see the things they do now! Amazing and beautiful!

I only saw highlights of the women's gymnastics but the routine by Simone Biles was stunning.  I do like the women's gymnastics and marvel at how they can do the things they do.

I was very active in my youth both in gymnastics and running. Seems a lifetime ago, and the sport of gymnastics is nothing like what it was when I was competing in back in the day. I may have a couple photos, most have been lost over the years. I'll have to look....

Kind of a lazy day. I did laundry and some cleaning up the small branches in the yard. Not much else.

This is the only photo I could find. The photo quality is not the best. Taken sometime in 1970. This is during practice...handstand on low bar was much easier than on high bar!! Nowadays it's nothing!!  As I said the skills then were nothing like they are today!!

Wow! Something I could never imagine how to do. The only sport I was involved in was track and field doing sprint running and high jump and not really very good at either but I did compete in High School events.

Me neither. I played some hockey (not what you call hockey) in school and went up to inter school competitions. When I went to college, they didn't have a hockey team, so that was the end of it. At age 33, I wanted to acquire a firearm, and someone told me that basic training was mandatory for a license. Destiny came into play and I saw an advert for a pistol shooting training course. Little did I know, that they were training people for the shooting sports. I somehow enrolled and did so well that within 3 months I was in the Nationals. Soon I became part of our state's squad and was shooting with the best of Indian talent. At some point the opportunity came up to be included in the National squad, but the time requirements were so high that I could not afford it at the cost of my business. So I gave up and had to be content with the State's recognition in the form of a State level award and a free house, for which I was not eligible as I already had one.

Impressive skb!! A free house in recognition of your achievement that is quite an honor! I'd never have achieved any recognition, I was not good enough. The chance to just compete in that level was enough of a "prize" for me.

I actually thought I had done more, but when I looked at the counter this morning I was surprised. Millie my indoor cat decided she had to sit in my lap every time I sat down and I hated ti push her away so much, so I blame her...LOL!

It is supposed to be sunny and nice today, the rain cleared the air so I can spend some time outside today before the heat and smoke return.

Thanks. I did pretty ok, but Indians today are at par with the world top level shooters. Unfortunately out of the 5 events in the pistol section, only 1 is there in the Olympics. But if you look at the Commonwealth, Asian Games and the ISSF World Cups, Indian shooters are right at the top.

At the ongoing Paris Olympics, Indian shooters have already won 2 Bronze medals.

5,536 steps yesterday.

Yesterday was a beautiful day so I did some tiding in the yard, lots of small branches down. My friend and her husband dropped off the replacement window for the kitty house. I think for now, the boarded up window is best, it faces West and all that sun pounding in would really make it hot in there!

This month is going to be another doctor filled month. Today the foot dr, the 9th my second hand surgery, the 13th my Medicare checkup, then around the 23rd the 2 week check up on hand.... Maybe Sept will be a dr free month???

The drive to and from the new dr took about 2 hours out of walking time. It was so hot when I finished with the Podiatrist I did't feel like doing much shopping there. I hit one thrift shop and got a few things then just came home.

Most of my steps today will be inside due to the smoke.

Just puttering around in the house and today looks to be the same. I really don't like going outside with the smoky air, so will be doing my walking mostly inside again.
