Pain is the enemy in my opinion and as we age it seems to come around more often.  I also wonder if it comes more easily when the barometric pressure changes?  Recently when I saw a rheumatologist, the first line of treatment he offered was injections into my finger joints.  Nah...don't think so, at least for me.  A nice warm soak in the bathtub is more appealing.

5,865 steps yesterday.

I've had those shots in my hands a couple of times, they do work and last quite a long time, but I'm in no rush to repeat them again...they are very painful.

Barbara - Injections in the hands are something I will avoid until I can't stand the pain anymore.  How are you feeling from your most recent fall?

I had trigger finger in my thumb and when it locked up it was quite painful.  I got an injection of cortisone and it wasn't that bad and I have never had a problem with the thumb again, that was 10 years ago.  Not the same as rheumatism I guess but the injection wasn't that bad.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with LCHF diet.

Wally - Maybe it isn't so much the injection but what happens to my blood sugars after the injection.  I recently had an ear infection and required some steroid ear drops.  Because I also have a perforated ear drum, the steroids also reached my blood stream.  My blood sugar spiked way into the upper 300s and did not want to come down for almost a week.  Steroids and myself don't seem to do well in spite of their good side effects.

Grammabear, I am feeling much better after the fall. I still have periodic aches and pains if I push too much. Thanks for asking.

I had two rounds of cortisone shots in my hands. I had a trigger finger on one hand and bad arthritis in my thumb on the other. The first round was painful but the second not so much. They were a couple years apart. It has been 5-6 years since the second round and so far I don't need any more.
