Thanks, that's what I plan, rest and elevate. Hopefully it heals fast! I don't want to lose all the momentum I've gotten with my steps.

5,944 steps yesterday.

Most of those were before the injury. I expect the next few days to be much lower. Garbage up to the top of the road is all that is on the agenda today.

Take it easy Barbara and let yourself heal. Don't worry about steps right now, it just doesn't matter until you are back to normal.

6,588 steps yesterday.

Leg is feeling better, but still aches. This afternoon I can remove/change the bandage for the first time. I still will be keeping it covered and wrapped with Coban to hold the pad in place. I'm curious what it looks like now.

Not going to push for steps, just what needs to be done. I think one more day of elevating it will be a good idea too.

Probably will do about the same today. After changing the bandage yesterday my leg is aching more today. Aside from the small walk with  my friend, today is once again going to be another take it easy day.

My leg is getting better, but if I do too much it hurts, so still taking it pretty easy.

I took it easy still yesterday and even so, today my leg hurts more. Sooo I guess I am still in take it easy mode. I am hoping that it is just because it is a largish surface area is the reason it still is not 100% closed up yet. I usually heal quickly and this is going much slower. Frustrating.

So taking it easy is primary goal for today, again.

Well, it wasn't a small cut it was a big gash with 11 stitches so it is not going to heal in a day or two.  My dermatologist advice when I have a surgery that takes stitches is to use something to keep it "greasy", his words, and he likes Aquaphor and keep it covered. He says that it heals faster if covered and that seems to be the case for me.  I know it is frustrating to have to wait to heal but it will get there.

Thanks for that info Wally. I've never had this kind of wound before and I guess it does require some different treatment. The dr at the Urgent care didn't say anything about after care and I didn't ask as I have never had a problem healing before. But you are right it is a large wound area. II definitely will keep it covered, and assess it when I take off the bandage today to see if I can put the Aquaphor on the stitch area w/out getting it in actual wound that is now exposed.  And I already have Aquaphor on hand!!

5,550 steps yesterday.

Still hovering in this area. I have an overall tired feeling, maybe from the meds? So I am not pushing anything at this point. The numbers will come when it is time.

It doesn't hurt to get it into the actual wound. That is what it is for, it is an antiseptic in addition to being "greasy" to help healing.
