New Meter

I bought a new meter through Amazon. I had never heard of it, and probably none of you have either. It's very ambitiously called "Control D".

https://controld.in/

I actually needed a refill of my strips. A pack of 100 was costing me 20% more than the cost of this meter + 110 strips. So I said why not. I checked both meters after Break Fast today. My accuchek read 172 (it's usually 20% higher when over 150) and the new meter said 132. All in all an accurate reading I feel. a couple of times I will check both again and let's see what happens.

skb - Indeed a very good price if you find the monitor to be accurate.  I just paid a whole lot more than this price for 100 strips and wish I had seen this several days ago.  At least I can keep it in mind for my next order.  Thank you for posting this.

It may be good but it appears that it is only available in India.  Grammabear, I don't know where you are going to purchase one.

Maybe my eyesight isn't very good yet, but I thought I saw it listed on Amazon just this morning.

Sorry, I was wrong.  SKB's link was for Amazon, India and when i put Control D in the search line for Amazon, USA it would not come up.  Just now when I put in Control D glucose meter it came up and it is available here.  It will be interesting to see how well it works.  The price is certainly good and 100 test strips for $20 is quite a deal.  I like my Contour Next because it connects to the app on my phone and keeps a record that I can download and print.

I posted the link to the company, though I bought it from Amazon India.
The price was certainly very attractive. I paid Rs 299.00 (~ $4.00) for the meter and 10 strips. The 100 strips pack was was Rs 900.00 (~ $13.00). The company name is Haiden (sounds very German).

I've been using AccuChek for decades now, as the strips were the cheapest and my testing was extensive in the earlier years. My own analysis is that the AccuChek is consistently and predictably inaccurate and that makes it a good meter. I've found it to be accurate at 80-85, 10% higher at numbers upto 100, 15% higher for numbers upto 125 and 20% higher above that. All numbers are approximate.

The Control D strips that came with the meter have been spot on, so far, with the above, always reading 10% to 15% below the AccuChek number. The meter itself is without any frills. No features like date, time or average, though it does store the last few numbers. All in all a very good buy.

It does have a CONTROL D named App on App Store and Google Play, but the App is not available for download in India.  :o

I'm confused.  If something is sold in India, why isn't the App also available for that product?  Do they think that persons with diabetes in India are not interested in being healthier?

I found that very funny too. While going through the site I find that the product is made completely in India. Considering that most of the Apps are also made here, why should it not be available for download in India ? I have contacted them and hope to receive a positive answer. The meter is very accurate though.
