83 this morning.  Our high was 97° yesterday, first day under 100° for a while.  Should be about the same today then heating back up.
This house has a dishwasher but most of the time I wash by hand as there isn't enough to make it worth it to use the dishwasher.  We run it about once a week to keep the seals from drying out.  If a dishwasher sits too long without being used that will happen.  Usually do enough cooking on the weekend to make the dishwasher nice to have.

75° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 84°/52°.

That's interesting re mixing the type of vaccine doses. Still not vaxed here yet, I see my pcp next month and will discuss it with him then.

Quote from: Grammabear on June 24, 2021, 09:27:55 AMskb - When you got the Covid vaccine, did you have to go to your doctor's office or a hospital?  We went to a local Senior Center which was staffed by nurses from the local hospitals.  Now, they are offering the vaccines at most pharmacies.

I went to 2 different centres each time. Both were make shift clinics run by our Municipal Corporation and the vaccines were free. These centres are properly staffed with nurses, doctors and all kinds of emergency equipment.

Our handy man has given us a new Panasonic machine for the old one + some cash. The unit is a demo piece that is used as a display in showrooms but never used. The deal cost us less than half the displayed price.

270 this morning (pump occlusion).

Wally, that's interesting about Angela Merkel and mixing vaccines. The woman has a degree in divinity and a PhD in "quantum chemistry" (what in the world is that??!!) so presumably is qualified to make her vaccine decision with regard to this world and the next...

For some reason, our town is having an increase in reported Plague cases. I'm still wearing both gloves and mask when I go out, but evidently many have grown cavalier with safety. Its still unclear if this is still the original wee beastie or some new variant.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but today it is raining.  So very welcome - this rain.  Maybe it will relieve the drought to some degree.

We listened to the "news" last night and they reported that a new variant of the Plague has made it's appearance in this area.  Of course this is after the rule about masks in some public places has been lifted.  It is hard to know what decision to make these days.

134 this lovely morning.

81° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 82°/52°.

Up really early today. I was really sick yesterday and threw up 3 different times, I couldn't keep any food down. And of course feeling miserable it was one of those nights I couldn't sleep. I didn't want to put Benadryl on my iffy stomach so I just tossed and turned. I was up by 5:45AM  which is a very early hour for me. Feel better today but taking it easy, sipping chicken bone broth right now and will go very slowly with food.

What good luck to get that new washer at such a great price skb! I think I jinxed myself talking about "planned obsolescence" re my appliances. Something very weird happened with my washer. Yesterday I walked past it and noticed a brown substance had run down the control panel it was dried and cleaned up easily. But no idea what it was, couldn't find anything dripping from above...sheesh, now I am kind of nervous to use it.

Yesterday sucked!

88 this morning.  It is warming up now and we will be going over the 100° each day and around 110°-112° next week.
Actually covid-19 is not a plague which is localized in an area or country but a Pandemic which is worldwide.  In modern times I think any easily transmitted disease will probably become a pandemic with thousands of people traveling all over the world each day.
After getting vaccinated I feel a lot better about going out and being around people but I am not going to overdo it.  I did go to Walmart yesterday and masks are not required there anymore and it was nice to not have to wear one after a year and a half of masking up.  The new Delta variant of covid is causing a rise in infections of unvaccinated people but the vaccine is apparently effective protecting from it.
Barbara, sorry you are feeling badly, hope you get better soon.  I can't think of anything from the control panel of your washer that would leak anything but I hope it was just something that was spilled on it.

The variant is called Delta+ here. I have no idea if the "+" signifies if it is any different. We are hearing that this has been found all over the world. Some countries like Britain and Brazil are witnessing another rise in the number of cases. Our State government is taking a cautious approach even though the numbers have declined to almost the previous year's low.

156 this morning.

Sorry you're poorly BigSkyGal. Sure hope you'll be feeling better shortly. I'm with Wally on your washer's mystery stain. Update us if you're able to find its source.

I have to be down at our local hospital this morning at 8:30 for an MRI of my back.  They told me this one would only be 20 minutes which is a relief - in the past I've had MRIs that took a couple of hours so this one should be easy.  Hopefully the results will make it possible for the spine specialist to take steps to alleviate the constant pain.

Barbara - Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly.  Does bone broth help settle the stomach for you?  Get well soon.

It is raining here again today which is very welcome.  Yesterday we also got a little rain.  The bird bath is a popular place for our feathered friends.  There must be a pecking order at the bath because we've noticed that some birds seem to chase other birds out.

Tamagno - Good Luck on the MRI and hope it aids in diagnosing your back issues.

87 this morning.  We are back to the 100°+ days again and it should be around 110° +/- a couple of degrees for the rest of the month. July can be hotter.  It is hot and dry over the entire West coast and fire danger is quite high.  Some areas may have thunder storms and while rain is welcome along with it comes lightening and that is a big cause of wildfires.
Hope you are feeling better Barbara.
Tamagno, hope the MRI helps you get some relief.  I can't have an MRI because of the artificial heart valve, apparently the MRI causes it to heat up so much it damages it.  I can do X--ray or CT scan without any problem so I would hope if I have a condition that would need an MRI the CT scan would suffice.

112 this mostly clear morning.

80° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 88°/52°. There are a couple 100° days in the forecast for next week...yuk!

Feeling much better today, took it real easy yesterday and by evening could actually eat a light meal. Grammabear, in the before diabetes days I would sip ginger ale to settle my stomach, I don't like artificial sweeteners so now I use ginger tea to settle my stomach. I sip bone broth because it is mild and has a fair amount of protein it can get me by without solid food for a day or so when I am having stomach issues.

I hesitantly ran the washing machine today and it worked just fine...thank goodness! I have no idea what the brown stuff on the washer was, maybe I was sleepwalking and spilled something on it??? I'll probably never know...

Hope your MRI goes well and you get some answers to help you Tamagno.

Tamagno, hope things go smoothly at the MRI and you get the results you want.

I am reading that the vaccines do protect against the Delta and the + variant. Numbers are looking much better than in April / May, yet I guess this thing will keep hitting back. Wether it is man-made or not, there is a stink of human involvement in it.

I thought of sharing with you something different from my Forests and Wild Life side. A close friend of mine from the Forest Department, who was appointed as Director - Social Welfare, in a very remote tribal section of central India, presented me with a bow and arrow still being used by the tribes. It is a treasured gift that now dons one of my living room walls.

Every part of it comes from nature. It is completely made of Bamboo, Twine and feathers. Only the arrow head is of Iron. In the jungles, there is a particular purplish wild flower which contains a poisonous juice. They extract this juice and the arrow tips are dipped in it. This can then be used by the tribals for hunting their food, mostly small deer or hogs. With the passage of time, these tribes have been relocated in settlements outside the forests but such poaching / hunting still continues on a very small scale in some parts.

Fascinating but my question is if they are hunting, I assume (maybe wrongly) for food, wouldn't the poison hurt them??
