106 this thunderstormy morning. With some rain so that is good.

88° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 91°/55°. It is 70° right now which is a pleasant relief from the high temps of late. Hopefully it won't get too hot again today.

Glad you are getting your car problems worked out Tamagno. Hope your back issues are soon to be resolved too.

tamagno, it is good that no penalties were imposed. Hope the rest of the process is also smooth.

136 today morning.
Food wise, yesterday and the day before were the same, so I seem to have caught the Dawn Phenomenon red handed. I tested yesterday at 5 am and was at 112. Today I tested 2.5 hours later and DP seems to have kicked in.

117 this morning.

Grammabear, I'd think it would be hard for Tandem to do background updates for a lot of reasons - still seems like there should have been some notice especially if it effects basal rates. I'll check mine later for unnoticed changes.

I did try Dexcom's new online failed sensor reporting.  I'm hopeful it works and will let you know how it goes.

Tamagno - I lost my entire history of the pump - the total daily dose, bolus, basal and correction.  The pump 'wiped itself' clean and there was nothing except my profiles were still intact.  I posted my dilemma to the Facebook Seniors with Sensors group and there are a number of other people who have had the same thing happen to them.  They were offered a replacement for their refurbished pump (as all people on Medicare are given replacement pumps from the beginning).  I was not offered that option, so if my pump fails again - I'm not quite sure if I have any options except to purchase a new pump without insurance.  At the present, I am not pleased with this happening.

84 this morning.  The drought in the West is getting worse and many large lakes and reservoirs are getting quite low.  Lake Mead is getting so low they may have to stop using the hydro-power generation that supplies power to a large part of California.
An example is Shasta Lake in California :

84° was the high yesterday, a fairly decent day. Today's forecast is 90°/52°.

Wow Wally, having lived through many a draught in CA, the photos are still disturbing.

Grammabear, I can't imagine how frustrating having your pump wiped from the upgrade is. Does the information from your pump get uploaded anywhere else? I know nothing of pumps...

Wally - I'm sorry for the drought situation you folks are facing.  Is there anything anyone can do?  Will you be facing additional restrictions?

Barbara - It is frustrating to have the pump wiped clean, sort of like typing a letter on the computer - and then the computer deletes it for whatever reason.  As long as the pump continues to deliver insulin, then I'm good.  If that stops, I would have to go back to injections for a while and that isn't the end of the world.  Since I've learned more about LCHF, I might surprise myself to use less insulin.

This is a scary situation. To top that I read of an earthquake in the region. Water is going to get scarcer and the future wars may well be for water.

Grammabear, equipment failure is hard to deal with, especially when it is a critical component of your health. I hope there is some way to recover your data.

Grammabear, I wonder if pump data can be retrieved from Clarity. It sounds like Tandem isn't being helpful while in my experience they most always have been. Since our Medicare pumps are renewed - which really just means we're renting them - maybe you need to talk to the distributor for repairs. The thing is, our pumps' only connection to the world is via bluetooth mostly. They can sync from the pump to Clarity either by bluetooth or by a wired connection to a computer but they have no wifi. Transmitting an update by bluetooth would be slow and you surely would know if it had been plugged in.  It just seems like there must be a Tandem IT guy to help and/or there's a copy of the deleted info. I'll be very interested to know how Tandem helps (or doesn't).

Scary photos out there, Wally. I'm praying you all have no fires this year.

Tamagno - I never thought of looking at Clarity for retrieving the lost data.  When I called Tandem the first time it was shortly after midnight, so I don't know if I 'disturbed' them or whatever.  The tech guy was polite, but not particularly helpful.  On Facebook Seniors with Sensors group, others have indicated the same thing has happened to them.  I currently have houseguests, but next week I will call Tandem and ask to speak with their IT personnel.

Wally - I hope you and yours will be safe during this drought.

82 this morning.  It is hot all over the West.  Here we are looking at a high of 118° today.  Death Valley is about a 2 hour drive from here and it is supposed to get to 126° today.
The West has been in a drought for a few years so this is an accumulation of dry months. The only thing that can be done is to cut back on water usage and hope for a wetter winter.  We have already had wildfires and the conditions are bad for more.  With the reservoirs so low fire fighters are worried about having enough water to fight the fires that are inevitable.  There is a chance of thunder storms in the mountains which is good for the rain but bad for the lightening that is responsible for a lot of fires.  I'm glad I don't live in the mountains anymore.

85° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 88°/54°. It is cooling a bit, but by the end of the day it is still too hot for me...

Tomorrow, I need to go out and run some errands. I dread going out, but need cat food and to pick up my mail.

I read about one such wildfire in today's papers. This is probably something that has been happening forever but population and development get blamed for it.

99 this morning.

Today looks like rain as it is cloudy and the sun is no where to be seen.

One of my visiting 'grandpups' found a small gopher hole yesterday on his walk around the yard.  He sniffed in the hole and suddenly went "bonkers" digging with his front paws trying to reach said gopher.  He is not a big dog, but it was funny to watch the dirt fly and his zeal for digging became more and more evident.  Such is a dog's life.

103 this morning.  A bit higher than I expected as I had a salad for dinner but then I did throw a few croutons in so to be expected I guess.
It is just darn hot right now with an overnight low of 90° and expected to get to 116° today.  We had a bit of a problem yesterday as out refrigeration A/C stopped working and the swamp cooler has a hard time when it gets to 110° or higher and it can only keep the house at around 85°.  The guy that installed came out and had to recharge the unit, turns out that the unit was just a bit overcharged when installed and he had to evacuate it and recharge the unit.  Newer units are so extremely sensitive that everything has to be perfect.  The new gauges he had to buy cost $3800.00 to use on the new units.  All is good now and it is cool inside.
Yeah SKB, wildfires have been going on for ever but I think the big problem is that more and more homes are being built in areas that are subject to fires.
