Thanks, I'll go add some to my Shopping List. The only flavors locally are chocolate and vanilla and I'm not that crazy about the vanilla. Strawberry sounds tasty.

I wrote a very short piece on Thyroid for my blog and a quick reading will help understand the basics of the subject.

I don't know if there are any further additions to the 7 Deadly Sins. There should be, and, in the Original list, Greed happens to be the deadliest of them all. That is the reason why lawyers want people to fight and doctors like people to be sick. That's business.

Our Article on 'All about Testing' says "Testing ought to have purpose. Every test must tell you something." I agree with Wally that one test a week is pointless. Of all the Biorhythms, Blood Glucose is the most important one and one should always be in the know, and hence be able to control it. Period.

Having said that, I must now hide somewhere, as my Fasting BG still remains uncontrolled - 137. But, at least I know, and that is the whole point of the test. The course of action will follow.

skb, I'm running on my last cylinders having had no sleep last night so will read your article tomorrow when I get up. Benadryl will be my friend tonight!! :)

By my lab's criteria, I am close to the high end of the TSH reading, but I don't know if that is the reason for my fatigue. I also am Low on the Blood Platelet score and also the Calcium score so I really don't know what to think. Maybe it is time for me to see an Endocrinologist? Never have been to one before.

Diabetes seems well controlled, but something is going on...

Quote from: Tamagno on July 20, 2021, 07:02:06 AMBy the way, did anyone celebrate yesterday's holiday? It was, of course, National Ice Cream Day - always the third Sunday in July so mark your calendars!

;D  ;D  I could add that to our Calendar if it were a fixed date. 'Third Sunday' will not work. But next year, if you remind us a day in advance, I'm sure we'll all celebrate.

Tamagno

81 this morning.

Great A1c BigSkyGal!

SKB, I also would like to read your article which sounds as though it sheds some light on the endocrinology affair.

I recall being somewhat shocked when my wife was doing her doctoral research to find out that often very slim statistical margins can be used as proofs for hypotheses. That is, there are times a lab test may indicate a particular process, but at such a marginal level as to be insignificant. The problem then becomes relying on tests (science?) to practice medicine that may well be unreliable when what is wanted is an experienced eye and practiced touch combined with a mind capable of discernment. Rare qualities.

In my own profession I met a great many musicians who had practiced with sufficient diligence to be able to play all the right notes at the right time, on pitch, at the right volume and speed but who were utterly boring to hear. The ones who became notable artists had the ability to do all that while also breathing life into the music in such fashion that it became meaningful to audience. There's a huge gap between the two and one that may not be bridged by instruction.

Tamagno - I do understand and believe your comment about breathing life into the music.  When my two sons were children, my husband and I imposed upon them the burden of taking piano lessons.  Every week I had to drive them to the home of the instructor, sit in the car for an hour whilst they had their lesson.  They both took lessons and yet one was more enjoyable to listen to.  The one who did not put "life" into his music was the one who did not want to be there in the first place and it came out in his music.

In my opinion, sometimes the results of a thyroid test don't always tell the whole story.  It took me quite a while to convince my doctor that "I" felt better, meaning I had more energy and interest in life, when my numbers were mid range and not at the top.  I have had good Endocrinologists and some not so good.  But all had their opinions about my situation.  Sometimes it is hard to find one who will "listen" to the patient.

97 this still smoky morning.

83° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 86°/57° and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Had some thunder yesterday but the rain skirted my area.

Thanks Tamagno, I was pleasantly surprised as I had fallen off the wagon many times im the past year. Maybe the weight drop helped?

I had put up the link in my last post, though I must warn you that it is a basic post on the Thyroid and it's hormones. Nothing more than that.

We are both (the two halves) keen listeners and music lovers. We watch a movie or a TV serials every night before bed. This has become a kind of a ritual. Before we see the show, we enjoy watching a few music videos. Just last night we were discussing that the most important aspect of a musical performance is the 'feeling' that the artist puts into the lyrics or the melody. If that is missing, it is like computerized music which we don't like.

105 today morning and I have no idea where that came from.

168 this morning.

Besides which, in every profession there are days the practitioner really would just rather not be there and is bored or preoccupied.

If one were so inclined, it would be very easy to be cynical.

Meanwhile, up here in Connecticut my wife is on site at her clinic for the morning so the house is quiet and I'm planning what I'll do in her absence. Maybe a good time to do a little extra cooking...

82 this morning.

Where do these 'random' numbers come from anyways?  When we do not get up for a 'midnight snack' and the body hasn't had food since supper at 5p.m. the night before?  Oh well.

Our weather is humid and smoky from the Canadian fires.  Air quality is labeled as poor, and a good day to stay indoors.

84 this morning.  It is not smoky here but the fires are more in Northern California and Oregon.  The fire in Oregon is over 400,000 acres now and may burn until September and the smoke has reached the East coast.
My internet is really a pain.  I have Mediacom cable and there is  problem somewhere in the system that is frustrating as it drops out intermittently and you never know when.  I have had them out to check it but it is never out when someone is here so they always blame it om my equipment nut it is on their side.  I need to save what I write before posting so if it drops out I can paste it back if it drops out when I hit post like yesterday.
I usually know why my numbers are higher than normal and it always is because of something I have eaten.  I can't blame anything but myself.
I need to replace my Phillips Sonicare toothbrush and I looked on Amazon and I last bought the one I have in 2014 so I don't think that is too bad.  I put it in my shopping list and will use the link here to purchase so hope my internet holds up.  It will eventually.

97 this continuing smoky morning.

86° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 86°/54°. Air Quality here is Unhealthy. They say the smoke is from the Canadian fires, but from what Wally posted I suspect some is from the Oregon fire.

Many times I do know where these unexpected bg #'s come from (food indiscretions) but many other times I am totally surprised by a high number.

That reminds me Wally, I need to get an Amazon order organized too.
