106 this morning.  It looks like we will cool down a lot tomorrow with a predicted high of only 89° and a 35% chance of rain, thunder showers.  I would love to see a downpour.
We don't have any problem with mice or rats here in town but up on the mountain there were a lot.  I had mouse traps all over in the house and caught a lot.  I had a Chevy S-10 4wd truck that sat most of the time and they chewed the wiring going back the the rear lights and I had to replace it all.  On my Honda Civic that was kept in the garage they got into the engine compartment and chewed through the wiring to the headlights.  Really terrible little buggers.

112 this still smoky morning.

82° was the high yesterday, today's today's 93°/52° and again, I doubt it will get that high here.

I've had mice in my car engine but since I started with the dryer sheets on the tires they have left the car alone. Of course with all the cats around outside now, I doubt there is a mice anywhere in the vicinity! My neighbor told me the mama is an exceptional mouser and I'm sure she'll teach her kittens too.

Barbara - Could you teach me about dryer sheets/tires on the car?  I truly never heard about that 'remedy'.  How many kittens did Mama have this time?

I put them on the tops of the tires. The mice have to climb up something right? I also open the engine compartment and put several around in it and leave it open. The light coming in also discourages them. My garage has windows all around.

Fluffy had 4 kittens this Spring. Also have the old man Meow Kitty that used to torment my Baby Boo for years. He has got to be more than 10 years and is ver arthritic. So I technically have 6 cats! Little old cat lady anyone??

I am trying to find some sort of service that will help with the cost of spaying/ neutering and vaccinating them. I just can't afford the cost at a vet. Problem is, I can easily catch Fluffy she is very domesticated (she is actually my neighbor's daughter's cat but they assume no responsibility). The of the kittens, there is maybe one I could catch as it sticks close to mom and tries to come inside when she does. The other 3 scatter like buckshot even when I open the door to feed them. As far as Meow Kitty goes, he would shred me if I tried to catch him. He has tried when I was feeding him several times so he is exempt. But I need to somehow get mama and the kitties fixed...

Barbara - Some counties here in the Midwest offer low cost spay and neuter programs.  They will even come and set "live heart" traps, transport the animal to the vet clinic, do the procedure and transport the animal back to the home location.  I don't know the average cost, but it might be worth it to see if your county or nearby county has a humane society.

Thanks for the tips on dryer sheets.  Our garage has only one window which has a shade over it.  Hubby has traps out so I don't have to see the 'meece' scurrying about.

It was (though all the missuses were also there, 5x2=10 in all). We've resolved to meet once a month, so looking forward to the next one.

Mice love to chew on wires but I once had my pet dog give me a lot of trouble by chewing a low hanging wire near the car tire. I think it was the brake light wire. We have a lot of mice outside the house, in the parking and garden areas. Naturally that brings in cats and snakes as well. For a long time we had 2 rat snakes make a permanent residence in our garden. We have had a chance to make a video of their mating dance as well. Many a times a cobra will sneak in after a mouse. But these don't stay, they're just visitors.

196 this morning.

I saw an article the other day about PEC which is the latest and greatest tubing used for home plumbing - turns out mice love the stuff; can you imagine?

Looks like another beautiful day here. Perhaps I'll see if I can get out some.

We had a baby Robin hatch yesterday in the hanging flower basket on our porch.  It looks like the remaining egg may also have a live baby in it as well.  Such excitement, right?

88 this morning.  It is cooler today and there is a good chance that we may see some rain.  It is always iffy here but there it is raining quite a bit to the South and heading this way.  I would love to see a downpour.
I never heard about using dryer sheets to discourage mice but if it works that is a good thing.  We did find out that leaving the hood open on a vehicle parked outside kept the mice out of the engine compartment but they still got to the wiring underneath the car.  I am glad they don't seem to be a problem here.

81 this morning. Yet another smoky day.  :(  Air Quality Unhealthy. I am so tired of the smoke.

84° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 95°/52° again, doubt it will happen.

I think I learned the hood up from you Wally. I thought I n learned the dryer sheet trick here, but maybe it was on another forum I frequent. Whatever, it seems to work. Now I think the cats are going to take care of the problem.

Just out of curiosity, how is the traffic at the other forum you visit (whatever the subject)? I ask because over at SMF there was this ongoing discussion about the future of forums and the picture seems gloomy all across, from the submissions of the forum admins.

Another 124 today.

Another 124 today.

It is s TV show forum with many sub forums. Primetimer. It seems pretty busy to me, but I am not a moderator or anything so don't have access to any stats. Personally I have posted 2.4 k posts. And I am not a large poster at all.

If its any indicator SKB, I'm getting many more e-mails from our "old" forum than usual. I don't frequent any other chat rooms so I have no knowledge about what's going on generally. It would seem odd to me if this format is being replaced by social media like Facebook insofar as their popularity waxes and wanes with considerable regularity but that's nothing more than my personal sense.

Do any of you enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning?  Do you use any special machine in making coffee?

I looked at my cgm reading this morning, and it started to climb about an hour before I woke up and that is hard to control in my opinion.

86 this morning.  Well, it was a lot cooler yesterday and we did get a light sprinkle but not much.  Some nearby areas got a lot more rain but it is gone for now.
I also get e-mails from the old forum and I looked in a while ago but it doesn't seem to be nearly as active as it was.  The 3D printers I own have groups on Facebook and they are quite active.  Kind of reminds me of the old Yahoo groups.
I have about 3 cups of coffee every morning.  I use a regular drip coffee maker, nothing fancy and I like my coffee black.
