95 this cloudy morning.

41° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 37°/25° with a chance of rain or snow.

I just got a text message from the hospital that I am now eligible for the Covid vaccine. I'm still not sure about getting it. I see my Gastroenterologist next Monday and I plan to talk to him about it.

104 this morning.

Managed to fix my wobbling wheel yesterday by taking it off, using some lithium grease on it and tightening the bolt that holds it on. Hopefully, that'll hold awhile.

I've gotten things from China that were wonderfully engineered and manufactured and some not so much. It's the same state of affairs with goods made in America so paying a premium for those is something I do with care even though generally I prefer home-grown products.

Which for some reason reminds me of durian and from there reminds me of tripe (Asian product to American). I'll never eat durian, I'm sure, but I have eaten tripe and thoroughly disliked it. I've been noticing more and more recipes for tripe showing up in food blogs and wonder how many people try those more than once. Even if you can get past the awful smell generated by cooking tripe, you've still got to contend with it's weird texture.

skb - Thank you for teaching me.  Yes, the draft was there and I never knew that feature existed here - how very clever.  :)

Tamagno - You are quite clever to figure out how to improve the condition of your walker by fixing the wheel.  I will pass on tripe.  I saw it in the food store where we sometimes shop, and just the package did not look appealing.

Barbara - Thank you for your comments on using the Amazon app and finding the 'live chat' feature there.  I never knew they had that feature either.  I understand your reluctance to take the Covid vaccine with your past history.  I wanted to take the shingles vaccine as I've had it twice and it is not fun.  However when the pharmacist checked my allergies against the 'inert' ingredients - he discovered an ingredient that would have reacted very badly with me.

It is only 10 deg F (-12.22C) here this morning.  Not a great day to be doing anything outside.

86 this morning.  There are three storms lined up and heading this way so starting Monday we ma see some rain and even snow.  The temps are supposed to drop a lot so snow is a real possibility.  When we do get snow it isn't a lot and usually only lasts for a day or two.  It would be kind of nice for a change.
Glad you were able to fix the walker Tamagno.  Yeah, some of the things coming out of China are junk but some are quite good.  I am amazed at how well the 3D printer I got works but the company has a good reputation and is quite popular.  Some of the other printers coming out of China are junk indeed so it is wise to do research.
I would definitely pass on tripe.  Some things just are not worth trying for me.

98 this cloudy morning.

39° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 36°/19°. Woke to about an inch of fresh snow it is mostly melting off.

Years ago when I was in the Philippines, the hotel we stayed in had signs all over "No Durian Fruit Allowed". Never would eat it or tripe for that matter either. There are plenty of other good things out there to eat...

120 today.

Glad you fixed the wheel John. Quality of any product is indeed fixed by its price. In India we get most of the Chinese goods of cheaper quality and therefore Chinese products have a reputation for lasting only 3-6 months.

I had never heard of Tripe and had to ask Google for help. Here, we hardly eat any organ meats so tripe is not seen or heard of. I've once seen an African guy at the butcher's asking for veins but the butcher was totally dumbfounded and so was I. On the other hand, why waste anything.

Kathy, glad that I could be of help. The SMF software is full of features that are not used on a daily basis and therefore quite natural to miss. I think you may have accidentally hit the Save Draft button instead of Post and therefore it ended up in Drafts.

Barbara, I am also reluctant to take the vaccine shots. For the moment the front-line workers are getting the shots here. A doctor we know took the first one and reported a mild fever and flu like symptoms for 2 days.  A news report, some days ago, also mentioned that the medical fraternity has asked to be given the Oxford vaccine rather than the Indian one. How encouraging  ~tnk~

I tell you John, for most of the day today I wish I had a walker around. It is getting better but still very tender to walk...

93 this morning.

Having a good walker is so often very convenient. I've got a grabber tool attached to mine that makes it much easier to get ahold of things out of reach (mine is good enough to even pick up dropped test strips), plus it's got a small bin that's handy for carrying small things and a seat that's actually pretty comfortable. So often it feels much safer to have that stability available as well as a place to have a little rest if needed.

It's a cold day here, though not quite what you're having, Grammabear. I doubt we'll get out of the 20s all day.

SKB, your comments about cheaply made goods reminds me of a friend I had some years back who was employed by Walmart and told me he often felt like asking customers if they wanted something already broken or something that wouldn't break until they got home - obviously not quite true, but you do wonder sometimes.

125 this morning.

Weather here today is colder than yesterday 7 deg F (-13.89C).

Waiting anxiously for my shipment from Penzey's spices.  I wonder if any of what I ordered is good with Cauliflower soup as that is what we're hoping to have for supper tonight.

I did not know they made walkers with a seat or a place to rest.  That sounds like something very handy.  I do wish I had one of those 'grabber' things though, any chance you remember where you bought it Tamagno?  Would a grabber reach things like a spice jar in a cupboard that is too high?

75 this morning.  The chance of rain here is dropping for Monday but it looks like we may have a good chance Wednesday through Friday but that could change also.  They are getting some heavy rain closer to the coast.
Grammabear, when I broke my hip I got a "hip kit" on Amazon that included several items to help you get some things done like a clever device to put your socks on and a 3 foot long shoe horn and it included a very good grabber.  It is great for reaching items from a shelf that is too high or picking items dropped on the floor.  It also has a magnet on the end that comes in handy.  I still keep it handy and use it at times.

93 this partly cloudy morning.

34° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is another 34° with 16° overnight.

Well, my ankle is better today but it is turning a nice shade of purple...I can walk better but still taking it easy.

Grammbear, I got one of those grabbers after my breast cancer surgery as I couldn't reach overhead for a while. It isn't quite as fancy as Wally's or Tamagno's but it does a great job getting spice jars off the top shelf! It is also good for picking up things that roll under the furniture that I can't reach.
