Thankfully we don't see any TV ads for medicines or drugs. The most that I have ever seen are for aspirin or paracetamol tablets. Things like cough syrups, body creams and supplements do get some TV time.

To me it is problematic that they advertise prescription meds on TV. As a viewer, we can't just go out and buy the med, we have to go through our doctors. I would expect my dr had been inundated by their supplier re the various meds and would know what was the best match for me. Personally I would never go into my dr and say "I saw this ad for xxx I think I should try that." Yeah, no not going to happen...

One thing odd about consumer prescription drug advertising is that with the advent of only large medical practices mostly affiliated with hospitals is that they have their own formularies of drugs to be used in those practices - prescribing outside that formulary or "off label" is not permitted. Patients can ask for whatever they've seen advertised but if its not in the practice formulary it can't be prescribed. Similarly true for Medicare coverage.

Well, this morning I'm off to see a pain specialist; that's the solution to my back problems offered by both surgeon and orthopod. Should be interesting...

101 this morning.

I saw a rheumatologist in January for arthritis pain.  After several x-rays, he offered steroid injections in my hands and knees.  When I declined and asked for something less "aggressive", he shrugged and literally told me not to come back again unless I changed my mind about the injections.  So I am more or less stuck with nothing.  I am not anxious for steroids because of the damage it would do to my blood glucose numbers.

85 this morning.  It looks like our weather will be pretty nice this week with sunny skies and normal temps for August.
I have had steroid injections before, once for trigger finger and a few times for my knees.  I was warned that it may raise my bg but was happy that it didn't seem to make a big difference.  Apparently it is different for some as it is a warning given before the injections.  I can understand not wanting to take the injections if it has that effect on you.  I have to wonder if there is another solution.  Maybe different steroids have a different effect.
The ads on TV and other media are trying to get you to tell your doctor to prescribe their product.  I think it is a terrible idea but it probably works often enough to make it worth advertising.  I prefer to let my doctor decide what is appropriate but then you don't know how much their decision is based on big Pharmas influence.

107 this cloudy morning. The smoke appears to be mostly gone. replaced by clouds, which is better as far as I am concerned.

90° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 82°/63° with possible showers or thunderstorms.

I have had steroid shots in my hands for both arthritis and trigger finger. I didn't really have any problem with bg after either round of the shots. It has been several years since the second round of shots and haven't needed a third round since.

Prior to reading your posts, I was not even aware that there is a specialization for pain. Though I do remember that years ago I had some lower back pain when I was almost 25 kilos heavier. I had seen some sort of a specialist whose therapy was based on inserting some very thin needles into your muscle and then giving some mild electrical current through that. From her looks, she appeared to be a charlatan and I was happier getting out of her clinic.

Very high this morning.

Obviously my CGM sensor failed last night (again). As usual it was the middle of the night but I've decided to wait to change it. So far this morning I've managed to drop or spill just about everything I could so my plan is to have my breakfast and coffee before attempting much else.

The pain specialist (who looks to be about 12 years old, although his voice has changed and it looks like he shaves) wants to do steroid injections in my back.  I'm going to try it as it looks to be my only option if I want any kind of mobility. I figure I can deal with some higher glucose if I have to in order to be able to walk more than 10 feet without a rest.

Yet more cases of The Plague here over the weekend. Definitely too many people getting cavalier over precautions.

Tamagno - Sorry you're having a less than stellar morning.  Hopefully after breakfast you can accomplish changing out your sensor and things will settle a bit for you.

Weather here is cooler for a few days and the humidity is almost perfect for this time of year.  The baby birds that hatched in the flower basket on our porch have started developing feathers.  They now look like baby birds.  Mother bird is most upset if I even open the front door, to say nothing about stepping out onto the porch.

83 this morning.  Bright and sunny today with a predicted high of 110° predicted.  That should be the hottest day this week.
Tamagno, hope the injections help.  The steroid injections I had for my knees did a really good job for my problem so hope it works for you.

103 this returned to smoky morning. Ugh!

78° was the high yesterday, had rain showers most of the morning and for the first time in a long time the air was fairly clear. Even opened up the house in the evening to air it out.Today back to unhealthy air... Today's forecast is 90°/57°.

Sorry you are not having a great morning Tamagno. I hope the rest of the day goes better. I had great results from the steroid shots I had in my hands. Hope it works well for you too.

Tamagno, hope you find a quick solution to the pain.

That is the same story everywhere. India came down from 400k+ cases a day to -40k and now we are seeing a gradual increase all over again. Currently at 44k per day. Reports from Europe, South and North America are also not encouraging. Wuhan, the epicenter is also under lockdown.

167 this morning.

Heavens, I woke up feeling great this morning, better than I have in ages! I went through my morning routine and when I got to syncing my Fitbit discovered I'd slept a solid 7-1/2 hours!  Amazing. Most often Fitbit says I've slept two to three hours. Perhaps its true that sleep is important? Now I just need to figure out how to do that regularly...

Seeing my endocrinologist this morning which should be interesting. He's a good guy so I've no worries about the visit.

I discovered an interesting website yesterday:

are quite interesting and informative in case anyone is interested.

81 this morning.  Today is supposed to be the hottest of the week at 112° and then cooling down a bit after that.
I actually get a pretty good nights sleep most of the time, 7-8 hours, but I do notice it when I don't get at least 7 hours.
My internet is really lousy todau going in and out so I will keep it brief.
