79 this morning. It was pretty smoky yesterday from the fires in Northern California but not nearly as bad this morning.  The winds have shifted and probably not a good thing for Barbara and those to the East.
It has only been two weeks since I have stopped the statin and so far I haven't seen any difference but that may take a while.  I am hopeful that it will make a difference but time will tell.  I am aware of the problems with side effects from prescription drugs but there are times when it is necessary.  I take meds for my blood pressure and that is the only way I have been able to keep it in the normal range.  I am not against a drug that works.
Grammabear, I am on regular Medicare and have never used Veterans Affairs for my medical treatment.  Medicare will pay for the A1c test every 3 or 4 months, I forget which, but my doctor usually has my testing every 4 months and Medicare pays for it.  Some tests are covered more often depending on the reason.  Like a PSA test is covered only once a year for a regular test but they will cover it more often if it is necessary for a follow up because it is high.  A colonoscopy is covered every 5 years but if it shows polyps like mine did they cover it more often.  A lot more often.  A lot of the time it depends on how the doctor submits the claim.  I have had the claim denied before and it had to be resubmitted with the correct codes to get it approved.  It can get really complicated.

95 this cloudy/hazy morning. Again, the haze may be light smoke.

62° was the high yesterday and it rained most of the morning which was nice. Today's forecast is 77°/46°.

The only prescription med I take is Atenolol for high blood pressure. I've stopped all my supplements for a couple of months as I kept choking on them.I'm thinking of slowly starting them again.

Best thing that happened yesterday is that I found homes for 3 of the kittens! It was through the Neighborhood app. Someone posted they were looking for 2 unneutered cats for barn cats. These guys would be perfect! Then another woman wanted one for her granddaughter. They are coming in about an hour and the barn cat people tomorrow evening. I can manage keeping mama and one kitten...  ~ cat ~

This enzyme has other critical functions (some say 40) in the body, which also sadly get affected. The most often mentioned, being the production of CoQ-10, a key mitochondrial antioxidant.

Sorry to beat the same drum again, but this is the reason for the muscle pain or in extreme cases muscle wasting away. To my mind if you are going to lose 37 substrates completely just to be able to reduce one, it doesn't make any logical sense.

134 this morning.

At 6 a.m. when I woke, my bg was 91.  An hour later when I finally got up and my feet hit the floor, my bg was 144 - go figure :(.

Our son and his two pups are coming today for a few days.  We always enjoy watching the pups play together.  The last time they played "hide and seek" outside - they ran circles in the back yard - around the garden, through the garden and earned themselves a bath because of muddy paws and legs.  But they definitely had fun and we had fun watching them play.

187 this morning.

I'm in no way against prescription drugs and take a fair number; like you, Wally, I only take them if they're helpful.

The last kitten we got was born under circumstances much like yours, BigSkyGal. She was a very sweet little thing with emphasis on little. Full grown, she easily fit in a coffee cup. She made up for her size by having long and wild fur that was multi-colored. As a kitten she was just about the oddest creature imaginable and so irrestible.

Overcast here this morning so I slept late - very slothful of me...

87 this morning.  Sunny and clear today and temp will be normal, hot.
The service man from the cable company came out yesterday to address the problems I have been having with my internet and he was really unhappy about how the installation was done when I moved here.  He ran all new cable from the pole all the way to the router and showed me the problems with how it was installed originally.  I have had them out here before and this is the first rep to take a real interest in fixing anything that may be wrong.  Really a nice and dedicated guy.  I am quite happy about what was done and so far all is working quite well.  Time will tell if the fix is permanent but so far it looks good.  The cable company advertises speeds of 100 Mb/sec down and 10 up and I have run speed tests a couple of times with 130 down and 20 up since his work so that is quite good for me and if I don't get any disconnects I will be a happy camper.
Since stopping the statin I have not noticed any difference but it has only been 2 weeks and I am sure it will take time for any change but I am hopeful that it may alleviate my problem.  Right now muscle pain is the reason I cannot walk more.
I do take supplements but it is because of my bout with hypercalcemia and my doctor has my electrolites checked regularly.

Snap skb! 120 here this morning too.

75° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 84°/45°. It is kind of hazy which again may be smoke...

Boy what a hassle trying to catch a kitten! Once they saw the strange people they darted under the deck and stayed there the rest of the day. They are very tentatively coming out to eat a quick bite and then back under they go! I told the lady that wanted one it may take me a couple of days to get them calmed down and catch one. I have a carrier out on the deck with food inside, hopefully one will get comfortable going in and out of it and I can catch it...

The other couple that wanted 2 for barn cats decided they were too feral as they wanted to have them in. the house too so they backed out. sigh....

Some people just don't know what the word 'feral' means I guess.  A feral cat just doesn't turn on a switch and he/she becomes a housecat.  It all takes time.  We once adopted a feral cat, born in the wild.  She did stay in the house, but never in all her life were we ever able to put two hands on it.  She would allow petting, but never did we pick her up to cuddle her.  She would have scratched our eyes out if we tried.

Wally - What a refreshing story about your cable service man.  It is rare to find someone interested in doing a good job for which they were hired.  Work ethics these days are changing.  Hope your internet service stays steady and working well.

skb - It is good that you keep sharing this information.  Many people only know what the doctor tells them, and I'm sure that Big Pharma reps do not emphasize the possible side effects of statin drugs like muscle wasting.

Wally,
It is heartening to read about your proactive cable guy. Cable guys the world over are painful to say the least. We had an outage for 10 days, but my wife is a good talker and chased the top brass continuously till it was fixed.

About the statin, it is still early days. Give your body some time to come out from the after effects of the drug. I'm certain that you will be better off without it.

Got a fasting 143 today, but I did eat rice last night, so it could be that.

Grammbear, I was perplexed when the couple said they wanted barn cats but then said they wanted to bring them into the house, Barn cats by definition are outside cats tasked with catching mice in the barn. Not cuddly cats you sit by the fire with in your lap. My kitties would be excellent barn cats! Their loss!

I'm still trying to catch the one for the granddaughter of the neighbor that wants one. the one I wanted to keep is the most socialized and I think I will have to let it go to them. This whole process has been much harder than I ever thought.

Kitties had a visitor last night that fascinated them!

110 this morning.

Yesterday was very hot and humid.  The heat index was 108 when clouds started pulling in.  At 5:00 p.m. it got as dark as nighttime and the wind started to blow.  We ended up with a storm to beat heck and 5-1/2 inches of rain.  We are supposed to get more of the same today.  I'm hoping not as much wind or rain.  I don't feel comfortable when it storms so hard.  There was a town about 25 miles from our place that had a tornado on the ground.  Fortunately it was in a rural area and damaged corn fields and not so many homes or buildings.

Barbara - It is probably a good thing that the people who wanted 'barn cats' didn't get your kitties.  It doesn't sound like they know much about animals.  The 'visitor' to your area is beautiful.  Do you get many deer to your yard?

84 this morning.  It is going to warm up a bit and we will be over 110° Saturday and Sunday and then it should cool down a bit next week.  There is a small, 15%, chance of a shower today but I doubt we will see anything.
Yeah, the cable service guy that came out this time was a jewel.  I have had intermittent problems with my service since I had it installed 4 years ago and have had other service techs out and all they ever did was to hook a device to their service box and say it looks OK or that they "made a few "tweeks" and it never made a difference. It had deteriorated so bad that I had drop outs several times a day, sometimes several times in an hour.  This guy was determined to fix the problem and showed me that the original installation was sloppy and where the cable from their box to my router was damaged in several spots.  He replaced all of the cable from the pole to my router and it is great now.  I have let the cable company know how much I appreciate his dedication to the customer, a rare quality.
SKB, I know it has only been 2 weeks since I stopped the statin and I really expect it to take some time to change, if it does, but I am hopeful.
