59°ish was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 72°/43°.

Well, my Hungryroot box finally arrived today after a vacation in Memphis TN. Unfortunately it was thawed out and I had to trash 10 of the 20 items as they were meat and perishables that I didn't feel safe to eat. FedEx guy says all 2day/overnight shipments go through Memphis and they are understaffed. My box was marked 2 day, I feel it should have been overnight. Would that have made a difference? I don't know... I left a message on the site and once I hear back, I am going to cancel. Wasn't that impressed with the items anyway.

Barbara - I am disappointed for you that your Hungryroot order did not work out.  I visited their site after you mentioned it here, and ever since then they have been bombarding me with emails to subscribe to their food delivery.  I hope they offer you a full refund for your trouble.

Had to celebrate a birthday yesterday. So there was some cake and cookies. therefore I didn't test this morning.

Indian Covid numbers are stabilized and things are opening up little by little but there is also the threat of the Delta variant becoming wave no. 3. It's wait and watch. Another lockdown will spell more devastation.

Wally, one of the cool things about Sundial is that it takes into account geographical location; the amount of information in the app is considerable, but I've not explored it in depth.

That's a shame about Hungryroot, BigSkyGal; both in terms of the wasted food as well as their apparent unreliability. I've often wondered, though, how good those grocery delivery services really are in terms of those issues.

Sad to say that the steroid shots I had are already wearing off. I spent a restless night trying to find a way of positioning myself so that I was comfortable. I'm hoping my back calms down once I get moving some more.

Grammabear, I haven't noticed any discernible patterns in glucose with seasonal changes, etc. I think that as our technology improves those tend to become less and less apparent.

SKB, isn't it about time for Diwali and its food and celebrations? Seems like that could be hard on not only glucose but also in terms of containing The Plague.

It was a comedy of errors trying to apply a fresh bandage upon my toe that had the nail removed.  The gauze kept slipping and the tape did not want to stick - but I got the job done in the end.

Very foggy here this morning as well as very humid.  I wish for weather to be less humid, so I could have windows open.

Tamagno - my suggestion is not a medical one for back pain however sometimes it helps me to place a small pillow just behind my back where the spot hurts the most.  I am mostly a side sleeper or a back sleeper because of cpap equipment.  The pillow helps a little.

88 this morning.  Another day under 100° is predicted for today but it is smoky from the fire in the local mountains which is still growing with 0% containment.
Our internet went down yesterday around 10:00 AM and was down all day. It came back on sometime late last night.  It is amazing how many things are reliant on an internet connection nowadays.  Kind of a sobering experience.
I would be apprehensive about ordering anything perishable on line but our local Walmart will home deliver and is only a mile down the road so if I was unable to go out there is that.

69° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 72°/54° with small chance of rain and thundershowers. Big thunderstorm passed through in the middle of the night with rain but now is just cloudy.

Tamagno, sorry to hear your shots may be wearing off already. Hopefully you are right and just getting moving will loosen you up.

Well, I took a chance with Hungryroot, it didn't pay off. I guess I am just too far out in the boonies for these food services to arrive in a timely manner. I've cancelled it, but not sure it was soon enough to stop the next shipment.

Barbara - I'm sorry about Hungryroot.  Since you don't frequent Facebook, I went on a search there to see if there were any other similar stories like yours.  I must have read 6-8 stories about people from different parts of the country with similar stories about delayed shipments and one of the main complaints was the lack of good customer service.  Some of the people lived in well populated areas, so what is Hungryroot's excuse for those people.

Diwali is in November, but what I call the festive season has started. Tomorrow is the first of the series. It is known as Raksha-Bandhan or Rakhi as some call it. Sisters will tie a band to the wrists of their brothers. The significance is that the Brother is the protector of the sister and those are like annual vows of protection. Of course, gifts and sweets are exchanged.

83 this morning.

SKB, sounds like a lovely reason for a festival, gifts and much indulgence in yummy food! I'm seeing Diwalee recipes popping up already even over here which made me think it must be sooner.

A friend of my wife sent her a box of candies from the 1950s. Its interesting as its a commercial product but I can't imagine someone having stacks of 60-year old candy to sell. On the other hand, it doesn't seem worth manufacturing new candy like the old. Well, it does include some things I'd forgotten about (bubble gum cigars, for example). Kind of fun. I doubt much if any will get eaten.

I'm glad to report that my back seems better again today - no idea what yesterday was all about, but definitely not a fun day. Sometime I'm going to make an outline of the "real" issues of aging to see if I've enough original thoughts for a monograph. Its my general impression that old age comes as something of a surprise to many of us and a lot of those surprises aren't terrific.

Tamagno - I agree with you wholeheartedly in regards to old age being somewhat of a surprise to many of us.  No one 'teaches' you how to be old and to do it gracefully if possible.  I like to watch children in the grocery store because that is the only place I see them.  They run from their parent with such glee and then look over their shoulder to see if parent is watching.  Then I wonder "from where do they get their energy and at what age do we lose that" and WHY do we lose it?

101 this morning.  Sunny and clear today and the high will still be in the mid 90s so a pretty nice day.  I see that New England may be hit with a hurricane, Henri, for the first time in 30 years.  Hope it doesn't cause much damage.
Yeah, getting older does bring on problems that we have to learn to deal with but then it does beat the alternative !

71° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 66°/52°.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Tamagno!

Thanks for the sleuthing Kathy! Still no response from Hungryroot. I did send a text message to cancel subscription but got no response to that at all. Saying very poor customer service is being kind!

94 this morning.

Tamagno - I saw on our weather report that New England states are getting hit by the latest Hurricane.  I hope you are safe and well.

Really disappointed in the pharmacy where I go for prescriptions.  The Podiatrist faxed a antibiotic prescription into them last Wednesday and here it is Sunday and I still don't have the prescription.  I'm wondering where customer service has gone these days.

84 this morning.  This is supposed to be our last day under 100° for a while but it is only going to be in the 100-105° range so pretty normal.  The fire in the local mountains is still out of control and only 5% contained so it's pretty smoky today.
Grammabear, it is an age old battle I have seen and it happens to a lot of people.  The one side says they sent a fax and the other says they never received it and you are caught in the middle.  I have fought this battle for years and it seems like it never gets any better.
