113 this mostly clear morning.

71° was the high again yesterday today's forecast is 73°/36°. Heading towards cold nights...

Hungryroot finally emailed me yesterday. They are going to refund me full price on the first box. Could take 8-10 days...gee it sure comes out of my account fast! They did cancel my account, unfortunately since I didn't notify them by 9AM Eastern time on Thursday, I will be getting one more shipmenty. I didn't get the first box until mid day Thursday. Oh well. They said they were sorry and would talk to FedEx too. Said my 2nd box would arrive on the 25th. Interesting because I have not gotten any tracking info for it. Don't see how it is going to be here tomorrow...

Tamagno, hope you get some relief soon.

Wally - your internet service remind me of the poem in the link above.  When it is good, you stay connected in a fine manner.  When it is bad, you get disconnected which is not good.

Barbara - At least Hungryroot has responded and is trying to make things better for you.  Somedays things just don't go right at all.  Hope this next shipment, although unplanned, turns out better.

Tamagno - Do you suppose your nausea could possibly be related to barometric pressure?  Those of us whose immune systems are comprimised seem to be more prone to things that bother other areas of our body.

After almost a week, I 'finally' have the prescription the Podiatrist ordered on 18th August.  Today my toe is objecting loudly to any kind of touching or even the shoe when I put it on this morning.  It is also slightly red, so glad I changed my mind and decided to get the prescription.

Good Luck to all.  Be safe.

Wally, I saw something about Starlink yesterday that might be of interest:

Grammabear, I never considered barometric pressure as a source of significant discomfort but its interesting - I seem to recall something about hyperbaric chambers being conducive to healing but I've forgotten the details. I hope your toe heals fast!

Thankfully, a guy down the road who gardens a lot brought us a whole big basket of tomatoes and some squash and the like. I thought I might miss good tomatoes this year, but these are fabulous. I'll pull out my tomato recipes after all!

Tamagno - In regard to barometric pressure being a source of significant discomfort, my DIL has fibromyalgia and she has major discomfort when the barometric pressure changes one way or another such as when a storm is approaching.  I'm referring to the "old-fashioned" thunderstorms and lightening along with high winds.

Speaking of storms, yesterday afternoon we watched the sky get very dark and figured we were in for a downpour.  But we also watched the same dark clouds go around us and head East.  We heard later that the storm produced some property damage in rural areas.  Sad how 'Mother Nature' behaves at times.

99 this morning.  It looks like it will be a bit hotter for the rest of the week but not too bad.  I would love to see any kind of storm here but it doesn't look like we will.
Yeah Tamagno, I have looked into it and I guess that there is a waiting list of several hundred thousand people that have signed up and given a deposit of $99 and it is expected to be available to them sometime in late 2022 or 2023.  I am more interested in the T-Mobile 5G internet but there is no timeline when it may be available here.  Like the poem Grammabear referred to when my internet is good it is quite good but when it is bad it is awful.  Hopefully they will get it fixed.  Right now it is working just fine but you never know when the next outage will happen.

71° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 81°/41°.

Still no tracking info from Hungryroot. I have a feeling they are purposely not sending it to me so I won't know how long box is in transit. They told me on Monday it would arrive today between 8AM and 9PM. Will believe it when I see it.

Hope you toe is feeling better Kathy now that you have the med.

I am so envious of your veggie basket Tamagno!

Wally, I wonder if 5G will ever be widely used and live up to its promise. You know, though, my internet runs consistently at about 110+ mgbs download an with upload speeds about 12-15 mgbs and those speeds have been more than adequate. I see people talking about 5G speeds 500 mgbs and faster and I wonder what real benefit those speeds have.

BigSkyGal, seems like I've gotten a few packages without tracking in the past but without enough pattern to decide why that happens. Hadn't thought of your current hypothesis, but I suppose its possible. I'm sure all these new food delivery services are still having growing pains.

Looks like today will be another beautiful day - just wonderful.

It always amazes me how 'quickly' my blood sugar can spike after a 'poor' choice during a meal.  That is in spite of adequate insulin to cover the poor choice.  I seem to take all night to recover to target range.  Makes me distraught with myself.

86 this morning.  Another warm sunny day but it is a bit smoky.  The fire in the local mountains is now at 20,000 acres and only 19% contained so it is going to burn for a while.  Northern California has two very large fires that are really out of control.  In California in 2019 there was a record of 2 million acres burned and in 2020 there was a new record of 4 million acres burned and this year they say we are on the way to breaking that record.  September and October are usually the worst months for wildfires.
Tamagno, I don't personally need any faster internet than the 100+ mb/s speed that I have but there are a lot of people looking for faster connections that they can get from fiber and 5g.  One of the drivers is on line gaming where the faster speed gives someone the edge over others playing the game.  It is unreal how many people are wrapped up in on line gaming.  I don't know what good 5G is for phones but there seems to be a demand for it.

Snap Gramabear! 104 here this cloudy morning too!

72° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 75°/46° with a slight chance if rain.

Well, so far nothing from Hungryroot. In my last communication with them I said please cancel and don't send any more food. That was Friday I think. Monday they finally got back to me and said I was cancelled, but had one more shipment coming. Maybe they took me at my word and didn't send it. Now I'm just annoyed because I am going to have to postpone my errands ti wait and see if the box does come. grrr wish I had never tried this!!

eta: Box just arrived. 3 days in transit, same results. Tossing all proteins and perishable items once again. It shipped the 23rd and arrived the 26th not good for perishable foods.  I'm hoping the yogurt was kept just cold enough to be safe to eat.

That's a pity. Be careful with the stale food.

Yeah I have tossed a couple more items. I opened one of the yogurts (sadly Sigis which I love) but it was sour and I looked at the expiration date it is only 2 days away!! Realy?!! My packing said Blackberry but I got Vanilla...I guess a FU from them for cancelling.

I haven't contacted them yet as I want to cool off a bit...I am too angry about all the wasted food right now!

75 this morning.

Its amazing they didn't get it right second time around, BigSkyGal. Good grief!

Grammabear, I find I have to watch it with various treats as not all respond to an extra bolus the way I'd planned. Its so much easier to skip the food "sin" than chase it later (and, its rare that bit of ice cream or whatever was actually that good).

Wally, the world of serious gaming is fascinating, but entirely foreign to me. Its hard to imagine having reflexes adequate to take advantage of the internet speeds you mention plus taking the time to play sufficiently to be so adept.

Barbara - I'm sad about your experience with Hungryroot.  I don't understand how they can rob you of not only the money spent for the food, but for the experience they 'claim' is so wonderful by ordering from them.  I think you deserve more than just a refund.

98 this morning.  The fire in the local mountains is still only 20% contained and there are a lot of people that have been evacuated form nearby towns.  Two more fires broke out farther South and several homes destroyed there.
Bummer Barbara, too bad but I guess a lesson learned.  I have only ordered food from Netrition but not anything perishable except bread which they freeze before shipping and it has always gotten here OK.
Yeah Tamagno, the serious computer gamers are a breed of their own and something I never got into.  They will spend tons of money to try to get an advantage over competitors and a speedy internet connection is critical to them.
Well, it's been a month since I stopped taking the Statin and so far I haven't seen any difference.  I had hoped that by now I would have had an improvement but I am going to keep with it for a while to see if there is any change.
