101 this rainy morning.

71° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 68°/50° with rain in the morning.

Had two bloody noses yesterday and this morning another one. Don't know what is up with that.

Wally, the second box was not my idea. They have a rule you have to notify if you want to skip or cancel by 9AM Eastern. Problem was I didn't get my first box until early afternoon on Thursday, so even though they cancelled my subscription I still had that second box coming. I will never order perishable foods online again!! I have half a mind ti not even contact them again and just chalk it up as a bad experience...

Also Wally, sorry you are not recovering from the statins quicker. Hopefully you get your strength back soon.

My son is an avid online gamer. It is difficult for me to even understand his set-up. Being, an IT professional, he is on top of things that are the latest in the market. Like all addictions, it is fascinating to the User.

Wally, I 'think' that if a metabolic pathway is artificially blocked for a long time, it would remain in the memory of the body's algorithm bank. I don't know how long it would take for the full original functionality to be restored. But it will take time and it may not even be noticeable at first.

India set a record of 10,000,000+ jabs yesterday. I don't know how this compares with other nations, but we now have more than 1/2 the population with at least one dose.

Wally skb said it much better than I could have. My thought was it had been so long you were on the statin, it may take a while for things to get back to normal.

143 this morning.

I took Crestor for 3+ years until one Summer day, out of the blue, I woke with severe muscle cramps in my legs.  I managed with my husband's help to get out of bed, dress and make it to the Dr's office.  He told me to 'stop' Crestor.  Sadly it was between 8-12 months before the muscle cramps left my body.  The Dr. was not happy one little bit when I declined his further advice of other statins to try.  For me this class of drugs just isn't compatible with my body.

125 this morning - snap, SKB!

Twice, I had a relative send me gift boxes of fruit from Harry and David and twice they were spoiled.

There are so many beautiful-looking "fresh" foods that can be ordered now and most all at some expense. Judging by your recent experience, BigSkyGal, it looks like caution is in order when buying perishables on line. I'd have thought by now the procedures would be well in place, but obviously there are exceptions.

Too bad - its startling how many really good restaurants and  artisan manufacturers are selling on line now. Even though things like hot foods are sent frozen and have to be prepared at home, you still can buy extraordinary things. Cost no object, there are so many to try it really would be something. I think I'll wait awhile, though.

(In the category of excess were the demands of noted singer Luciano Pavarotti, who insisted that his kitchen staff and comestibles be flown with him on private jet to, for example, China.)

83 this morning.  It looks like it will be about 108° today, tomorrow and Monday and then we will get below 100° for the first week of September.  I am looking forward to cooler days.
Yeah I agree it may take longer to see any change after stopping the statin, I was just hoping to see a change after a month but I am going to stay with it.  It may make a difference or it may not but only time will tell.

90 this mostly clear morning.

69° was the high yesterday and there was rain again in the afternoon. Today's forecast is 75°/41° and clear.

I took Pravastatin when I was first diagnosed, but I didn't take it for long. I don't even remember why I stopped, but something about it was not right for me. I haven't taken another statin since.

My goodness Tamagno, I would have thought after all these years that Harry and David's would have fruit delivery down to a science! I see they are now also jumping on the meal service wagon.  I guess it is the new "it" thing. After my experience, I will stick with shopping at the grocery store for perishables.

Last Christmas my husband's sister sent him a 'plate' of dried fruits from Harry and David.  It was actually quite good he said.  The few pieces that I indulged in had an excellent flavor.  I have no idea about the price as we don't normally order from them.

More and more of businesses and work will happen online. This is going to be the new work culture. Period. Whatever this Covid is, real or imaginary or conjured, it is here to stay. I don't see a return to 'normal' or what was 'normal' till 2019 at least until 2025. Sadly, packaged food will see a huge jump in business. Delivery logistics will also see a boost. It may take some reconfiguring before fresh food can be delivered fresh.

All I can say is Hungryroot has a long way to go on their delivery practices. This perishable food needs to be sent overnight, not 2nd day which actually translates into 3 days in transit.

I did have a nice Hungryroot salad with dinner tonight. Baby spinach, arugula, spiced artichoke hearts and Hungryroot house dressing. It was good but really I got a salad from my box???

111 this morning.

We saw a 'Hungryroot' commercial last evening while watching television.  It did emphasize how 'convenient' it is to have "fresh food" delivered right to your doorstep?

skb - Is fresh food delivery a common thing in India?  Do you have large grocery stores available too?

102 this mostly clear morning.

70° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 81°/39°.

Quiet here this morning. Wally may be having internet problems again but I always worry when Tamagno hasn't checked in. Probably just being a worry wart but I do.

Hungryroot does OK with the veggies (though I did toss sliced peppers and onions that were slimy) but I wouldn't feel that their meats and sauces were safe to eat after sitting so long unrefrigerated. Anyway, lesson learned re food delivery...

Barbara - I wonder if Hungryroot does any better if a person lived in a heavily populated area?  We live 90 miles southwest of Chicago, and yet Amazon's Whole Food does not deliver to our area.  The closest thing we have to fresh food delivery is 'InstaCart' which some of our local grocery stores make available to its customers.  You go to their website, choose your grocery items, and then someone from the store picks up your items from the store shelves and delivers to your home.  However there is a mandatory delivery fee as well as gratuity to the delivery driver.

I also worry when Wally or Tamagno are not able to check in.  I qualify as a "worry wart" too.  :)))

I think part of their problem is their shipping. They are in CA and to ship to me for example, I feel it should be overnight not 2 day. Perishables are just not safe when not refrigerated properly. I'll just go back to picking my own groceries and meats.

I know someone that gets Blue Apron and they always ship overnight.

86 this morning.  Yes, my internet was down at 5:30 AM when I got up and just came back up at 3:30 PM, great service !  I sent an email to corporate asking why it was down every day and  the answer was " outages happen for a number of reasons" and basically "deal with it".  No real alternative here though at this time.
I do wonder about Tamagno though.
