QuoteSKB, I tried to follow your instructions on my Chrome browser and it didn't work.  When I right click on the screen I don't get the dve. tool inspector.  There is an "inspect" option bit it does not look anything like what you show.  Maybe there has to be an option enabled that I don't have set on my version.

I'm sorry. My instructions were not complete.
You are right. The right click will open a drop down Menu and the Inspect option opens something called the Inspector. The Inspector is a developer tool designed to show the elements of the webpage alongside the code, which is shown in the right panel. To adapt the display to different screen sizes, you need to click a toggle button (2nd from left on top) which will show the left side display in different screen sizes.

OK, that works.  Quite interesting and can be useful.  Amazing what is available if you know how to do things.

105 this morning.  It is cooler and around the low 90s but today it is really smoky.  There is a fire in the local mountains that is still 0% contained that was started by lightening on Sept. 9 and it is generating all of the smoke we are getting here.  Depending on the wind direction it can get pretty bad here.

Further North and West there are two fires also started by lightening on the same day that have joined and are also 0% contained that are threatening the Giant Sequoia trees in the Sequoia National Park.  One of the trees is the General Sherman, the largest tree in the world and they have wrapped the base in aluminum to try to protect it.  Normally these trees are not affected by fires and actually benefit from them but because of the drought and extreme intensity of these fires they can't tolerate them.

Grammabear, something I just thought of is that if you are thinking of a tablet just for reading e-books you don't have to pay for an iPad.  You may want to check Amazon for a Kindle e-book reader.  There are several models at different prices but I had a Paperwhite before I got my iPad and it was quite good for reading e-books.  I got the one with ads which is cheaper and the ads do not interfere with your using it, they only display on the screen when you are not using it.  You can get it without ads for, I think, about $20 more and the base model with 8 GB storage holds a lot of books.  Just a thought.

120 this mostly cloudy morning.

73° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 57°/43° with a chance of rain.

Grammabear, Wally is right, if all you need is a device to read book, a Kindle is perfect. I have a Paperwhite that works great. I take it with me mostly when I go to the dr and know I will be waiting around. It is easy to read and costs much less than an iPad.

Have a great one Kathy. Looks like you have enjoyed the 51 years, and that is really cool.

A Kindle e-Book reader does make sense if reading books is the only purpose. If you want to browse the internet or do other computing stuff, then the tablet is what you want.

Happy to have helped. You could keep your pointer on any particular element on the webpage and then open the Inspector to see all the attributes for that particular element. I use the Inspector quite a lot for our Forum and other Sites that I work/ed on. Even so, I must admit that I know hardly anything about this powerful tool. Professional developers cannot do without it and each browser offers something on the same lines.

Thanks all of you for the Anniversary wishes.  It's hard to think that 50 some years can go by in a flash.

Are these 'tablets' lightweight or what features are most desirable?

We might get some rain today and that would be most welcome.  Our grass is brown in spots and we worry about trees not getting any rain for weeks now.

102 this morning.  It is supposed to warm up a bit and we are going to hit 100° Wednesday but then it will cool down.  There is a very small chance of some rain Thursday and Friday but I doubt it.  Our trees and grass depends on sprinklers here to survive.
Grammabear, I don't know what you would consider lightweight.  They are of course heavier than a phone because they are bigger but easier to hold and use than a hardbound book.  As far as features, it depends on what you want to do with it.  There are many options available depending on how much you want to spend and what you want it to do. It can be as simple as just a book reader or as complicated as a complete computer.

Missed what the high was yesterday somewhere high 60's, today's forecast is 57°/39°. It rained overnight, may see a few showers today but not much chance.

I have an iPad mini2 but I mostly use my MacBook Air laptop. I rarely use the kindle any more. If one just wants to read books the kindle is great and quite light.

I am grateful you both have shared your thoughts about iPad and Paperweight.  I seldom see anyone anymore since Covid came into our lives, so I don't get to talk to anyone about these new items to technology.  I don't have family close by that would share about technology either.

Hope the heat is tolerable Wally and above all maybe it will not contribute to the wildfires.  The smoke has to be really tough to breathe.

I too use the iPad mini, a laptop and a desktop PC at home. The laptop is the most updated in terms of SW. The iPad is used only for browsing or at times to play some games. The PC is really outdated and requires an upgrade which may happen soon.

104 this cloudy morning.

Hey...we got rain last night, how much I don't know but it did rain.

Does anyone have a favorite "season" of the year?  I think mine might be the Autumn season because of the beautiful Fall colors and cooler weather.

87 this morning.  We are still going to be in the high 90s for the rest of the week and then maybe cooling down a bit.
I think it is a toss up between Fall and Spring here depending on how long it lasts.  We can go right from cold to hot or hot to cold without the milder temps. in the "in between" seasons.  We don't have a lot of trees here that have leaves that turn color so not nearly as impressive as in other areas.
I did have a surprise yesterday. We have a shrub outside the kitchen window that is trimmed square with a flat top that is right at height of the window and I went into the kitchen and there was a Hawk sitting on the bush looking in the window.  He looked right at me and didn't seem to be disturbed at all then finally flew away.  Another time I wish I had my phone with me.

60° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 73°/39°.

Fall has always been my favorite season. I love the leaves turning. Spring would be my second favorite.
