84 this morning.

It proves how uninformed I am as I never heard the term 'phising'.  I'm just glad I listened to my inner voice and told the caller "good-bye".

We are seeing strange habits among the wild birds we feed.  Robins, are usually long gone for warmer regions by now.  But yesterday we saw one 'bathing' in our bird bath.  Hubby changes the water in the bird bath daily and I guess Robin liked it.  The Robin seemed to have a good time splashing the water about itself.

120 this cloudy morning. It was 19° when I got up this morning.

Yesterday's high was 60°, today's forecast is 63°/30° with a slight chance of rain showers.

The robins left here a long time ago! The geese are heading out too.

My garden birds have all but vanished. In all these years that I have been here (since 1985) I have photographed more than 35 species. Now only the forest crows, some kites and a handful of varieties visit. We consider it a lucky day when a kingfisher comes to the water. The Indian Robin which used to visit has not been seen at my house for a number of years now, but the Magpie Robin is still a regular.

127 this morning - now where did that come from?

skb - Your magpie Robin is a pretty bird.  Does it have any particular features that make it stand out among other birds?

My husband was working outside yesterday near the flower beds and he heard a Woodpecker in a nearby tree.  I sat for a little while and watched the bird looking for bugs in one of our trees.  He was such a diligent little bird and I hope he found himself a nice meal.

91 this morning.  We got up to 76° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 81° today.  There is an "atmospheric river" heading to the West coast and quite a bit of rain is predicted for most of the West which is not a drought breaker but certainly welcome.  We are even supposed to get some rain here.  Snow in the higher mountains is also a good thing.
Most of the birds around here are here all year long.  The Snow geese come here for the Winter and any where there is a large grassy area like parks and sport fields are full of them all Winter.  Barbara, maybe some of your geese Winter in Ridgecrest !

114 this partly cloudy morning.

60° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 66°/36° again with a small chance of rain.

That is a nice thought Wally that my MT geese are wintering there by you in CA. Sounds like a nice Winter place!

Yesterday one of my yard tigers got over the fence into my neighbor's yard. I just sawt it by accident. It was frolicking in the yard, exploring the vehicles. I tried calling it back but it ignored me.  It missed two feedings and I saw the neighbor's dog tearing around the yard later. I figured it was gone across the ditch and was hoping I wouldn't find it at the side of the road next time I went out. Well, this morning when I was feeding them there it was! It knew it's way home it seems. Boy was I relieved!

Quoteskb - Your magpie Robin is a pretty bird.  Does it have any particular features that make it stand out among other birds?

The colors black and white make it stand out. It is pretty chirpy and not very shy as compared to the Indian Robin. All black and white birds generally have the "pie" or "pied" in their name. Hence the 'magpie robin'. The same bird in the forests can be very healthy and better built as compared to their city cousins. This one is from the Gir forest. I can't attach the original image as it is too large in size.

138 this morning.

I would like to ask a question of those with Type 2.  If or when your blood glucose goes out of your range, how do you encourage it to get back into range?  For the last week or so, my glucose has been so far out of range and it seems that no amount of insulin will allow it to go back into range.  I don't feel sick but my glucose is either high or low.

88 this morning.  We got to 79° yesterday and it should be the same today.  The snow system that is supposed to be arriving late Sunday and Monday is coming from around Hawaii and will be warmer than storms from the North but there is snow predicted in the mountains above 9000 feet.  Mammoth Mountain ski area has 17 inches so far and is expecting about 24 inches from this storm.  They are going to open up October 29, two weeks early.
Grammabear, since as a type-2 we do make insulin, just not enough to cover everything, all I have to do is control what I eat.  Higher blood glucose for me is directly related to what I eat.

Snow in the mountains?  :)  That has to be a good thing to help relieve the drought even if it is in a small way.

Wally - Does your blood glucose ever rise just from stress or other external influence?  Not trying to be intrusive, just want to understand.

123 this partly cloudy morning.

60° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 64°/36° with a chance of rain this afternoon and a very good chance in the evening.

Grammabear, as Wally said we non-insulin dependent T-2s only have controlling our food intake to get our numbers in range. I do feel though that sometimes stress can raise my # despite what I do food wise.

I have moved the discussion on Type 2 to another topic for a number of reasons.

1. It is related to Type 2 Diabetes and better suited to that board
2. It promises to be a good discussion and doesn't deserve to get lost in the Fasting Board
3. Anyone surfing through our Forum as a Guest (especially T2) will find it easy to look for this in an ordered board on the subject.

https://www.diabetesforum.online/index.php?topic=2207.msg33576#msg33576

As a forum, it will be best for us to have a larger number of discussions in appropriate boards. Please don't mind.

112 this hazy morning.

Our weather got down to 39 deg last night and yet rain is forecast for late today and tomorrow.  Not a great day for outdoor activities.  We have to bring our houseplants inside for the Winter season.

94 this morning.  We got to 81° yesterday but it is going to start cooling down over the weekend and Monday there is now an 80% chance of rain here.  Farther North they are expecting near record rainfall and feet of snow in the higher elevations, over 9000 feet.
That includes most of the ski resorts and Mammoth Mountain is going to open next weekend, earlier than normal.  It won't end the drought but it will go a ways to improve it.  It should end the fire season for Northern California where the biggest fires have been.

135 this cloudy morning. Had a low grade temp (100.4°) last evening it is OK today, but hope I'm not coming down with something.

60° was the high yesterday and it did rain later in the evening. Today's forecast is 55°/39°.

That is good news Wally! Hope the rain and snow put out all the fires!!
