124 this partly cloudy morning.

50° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 48°/39° with possible light showers.

Unfortunately Kathy, our little dirt road is not a county maintained road. It is up to us to keep it up. It really isn't that bad, I drive my 24 year old car on it with no problem. One has to go slowly and the mail lady wants to drive as fast as she can. She says she doesn't want to wreck her car....

Yesterday I went to the larger grocery store to shop and boy there were a lot of empty shelves. No paper towels except a couple of the "organic" ones (which I bought) plenty of TP, the soup shelves were empty too. I guess people stocked up for the Winter? Everything else seemed well stocked. I looked for a rib eye steak but the cheapest one I could find was over $20! Sorry not paying that much! Bought some Kielbasa instead.

Our road is also a 'private' road, the last 50-60 metres that is. It is tarred but broken in many places. All of us (we are 5 on this road) want to resurface it, but we first need to lay the main drainage lines under it. Since that will involve a lot of breaking and digging, we have put if off for the time being.

110 this rainy morning.

A dirt road is indeed a challenge because of how the weather can influence it.  Many years ago, when I was a child, we also lived on a dirt road.  You had to drive very carefully and slowly when the road was pummeled by rain or snow.  Our road was finally made a little better with a number of truck loads of finer gravel.

86 this morning.  It is warming up and we are supposed to get to 76° today and 83° tomorrow.  It is clear and sunny with no wind so a pretty nice day to be outside.
When I lived on the mountain we were right on the highway but many lived up dirt roads in the area.  Our mail was delivered by a private contractor and they provided the carrier with a 4 wheel drive vehicle and they did a really good job of delivering in rain, snow and mud.  UPS and FedEx were different as they could not get their trucks up the roads when muddy or snow covered but we didn't have a problem.
Yeah Barbara, the cost of everything is going up and the cost of beef is really apparent.  I do see some things out of stock but it varies and for the most part it hasn't been a problem.

127 this cloudy, drizzly morning.

49° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 55°/37° with showers.

The smaller grocery store I usually go to does not have all the empty shelves the larger one did yesterday. Maybe the larger store just gets more shoppers, I don't know. But I'm not going to bother with the larger one for now.

91 this morning.

We have rain again today at least for this morning.  Our temperature forecast is for 54 deg F high and 47 deg F low.

This past week we've had a work crew putting electricity lines 'underground' in our neighborhood.  It is kind of interesting to watch the equipment and the workmen putting things into place.  I hope this project does what they want  it to do as being without power is not a fun experience.

87 this morning.  We got to 82° yesterday and it is supposed to hit 86° today.  Next week is will be cooler but still in the mid 70s.  Not exactly Fall like but I am not complaining.

50° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 63°/37° again with a chance of showers.

I called yesterday to make my appointment for my yearly eye exam due end of Dec. Earliest appointment I could get was Feb 11! I can't believe he is that busy... That puts me in Feb now instead of Dec...

Barbara - For whatever it is worth, I had to make my yearly eye appointment a whole year in advance.  It was explained to me this way:  because of Covid, many professional offices are wanting to control the amount of people that are seen in their offices on a daily basis.  I cannot speak for your eye doctor, but that is what I was told last year.  I have to wait until March 2022 for my yearly exam.  However, I was told if I had any eye issues, that I should certainly call them for help.

Not here, not anymore. In fact, in the markets I see 1/2 the people not wearing any masks. We still report around 13000 new cases every day, but fatalities are down. Maybe the vaccines help at least in controlling that.

On our last trip to the grocery store I would say we saw more than 75% of people wearing the mask while shopping.  Granted it is a smaller store and many businesses in our town have a sign on the front door asking patrons to wear the mask.  In our doctor offices, it is required to wear a particular kind of mask or you are asked to leave. A mask made of cotton material is not permitted, you are offered a layered paper mask and if you decline, you are asked to leave.

92 this morning.  We got to 85° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 86° today then cooling down a bit next week but still in the mid 70s.  We went from needing a jacket a couple of weeks ago to T-shirt and shorts but not complaining.
Most people around here are still wearing masks in places like the grocery store.  We are looking at around 70% vaccination rate here so that helps also.
It is the same here with medical offices, a cloth mask is not allowed.  It has to be an N-95 or surgical mask.  It has also become harder for me to get an eye appointment.

120 this blue sky morning.

65° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 48°/27°. It appears it will warm up into the 50's by Tues and overnights will be above freezing for a week or so.

Only about 1/3 of the people in the grocery store were wearing masks when I was there last. At the Drugstore masks are mandatory so everyone was wearing one there. I always wear one as I am still unvaccinated. Statewide 55% of people are fully vaccinated, in my county the number is 52%.

Personally, I think masks and sanitizer are more of a problem than a solution. I wear a cotton mask (when outside) only because it is compulsory, but most of the time it is below my nose so that I can breathe easily.

110 this morning.

We definitely need a jacket and long pants here these days.  It is currently 45 deg with a high of maybe 52 deg F and a low of 34 deg F.  Yes.....34 and that is getting too close to a "frost".

While shopping online I found a textile company, Wittmann Textiles, that is made in India.  I bought one of their cotton nightshirts and it is a very soft material and extremely well made. I am a little confused though because it states on the website that the goods are made in the US, but my garment states it is made in India.  If anyone might want to look at what they sell, the link is:
