An inexplicable 131 this cloudy morning. Oh well, it is what it is.

39° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 48°/30° with rain showers. No snow here for a while.

Quote from: Grammabear on November 12, 2021, 11:06:15 AMNot about weather, but is there any way to tell if a charging cord is no longer good?  I have tons around here, some I purchased, some were given to me but some simply don't charge anymore.  Somehow they have all become mixed together and I would like to be better organized or maybe ditch them all and purchase new ones for DH and myself.

I too have many 3rd party cords that don't work anymore and they are not good for the principal gadget as well. Best to throw them away Grammabear.

87 this morning.

Yesterday we had "slurries" which is a new term used by the weatherman.  It is a combination of snow flakes and light rain.  The precipitation we got yesterday didn't even make the ground white, which is definitely quite alright by me.

Today I hope to bake Sourdough bread.  I read that since the yeast/flour combination used for the starter is considered fermented culture, that it is more blood sugar friendly.  I don't know about that, but I figure it is worth the effort to find out.  I do miss bread once in a while and my husband likes bread as often as I can bake it.

120 this cloudy morning.

42° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 52°/39° with a tiny chance of rain.

Annoyed this morning as the pilot light in my fireplace apparently blew out last night. It was a warm evening so I turned off the flame when I went to bed and this morning no pilot light. It is really a pain to relight it and my old bones are finding it harder to get down on the floor to do it. Fortunately I have central heat so not a big problem but I like the flame of the fireplace...

I agree that 'Seniors' sometimes have trouble getting down on the floor and even more trouble getting up from the floor.  One trick that works for me is to grab a cushion from a chair or the couch and kneel on that.  Much kinder to the knees.  I always try to have something to hang onto when I get up - so I don't fall.  I like fireplace flame too Barbara.  We have a working fireplace in our living room.

The problem is that the controls to relight the pilot light are 6" above the tile the stove sits on. It takes 2 hands to operate the controls and the position doesn't allow me to see if the pilot has come on...I am going to call the gas co. on Monday and hope they will come out and relight it for me. They stopped that service a while back but I'm hoping I can get some sympathy and they will send someone out.

It would be interesting to know whether the flour is still capable of raising the BG. I think it will.

124 this morning.

Our weather today appears to be a storm "brewing", very windy, cloudy and just plain miserable.  Good day to stay inside.

The starter may be more blood sugar friendly but the flour used to make the bread is no different.  I would not expect to see any difference from other breads.

105 this morning. It is going to be 84° today and tomorrow then cool down a bit and be in the mid 70s the rest of the week.  We will have clouds but no rain expected.
When I lived in the house on the mountain we never used the fireplace because too much heat went up the chimney.  We had two wood stoves and to light the fire we used fire starters that we got at Walmart.  It is a small block that you light and it gets the wood going pretty soon.  The gas log lighter would be nicer but these did work.

129 this cloudy morning. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a bad vial of strips...not trying to make excuses, the # is what it is but I can't explain it...

50° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 57°/37°.

My fireplace is natural gas not a wood stove. It is really just for looks, not for heating the whole house. It heats the living room where it is, but it is more just for enjoying the cozy flames than a heat source. I miss it but can get by w/out it too for a while.

Barbara - Is it possible your strips might be either expired or close to expiration?  On that same note, my current sensor which is supposed to be fairly accurate is so far off - I have to do more fingersticks that usual. most of my other sensors have been maybe 10-14 points off, but not this one...........WAY OFF.

121 this morning.  Not really a surprise, I tried a bit of rice last night.
Another 84° day today and then dropping down to the low 70s tomorrow and the rest of the week.
Pretty quiet this morning.  Grammabear and SKB haven't posted yet today and it just points out what a small group this is.  I know SKB has tried ways to boost the membership but it seems that we don't attract any more members.  It would be nice to get some other points of view.

99 this partly cloudy morning.

It got to 60° yesterday, today's forecast is 63°/45° or 64°/32° depending on which sit I look at. Big difference in the overnight temps. Supposed to get windy in the evening and overnight.

No Grammabear, the strips weren't close to expiring, but I think it was the last box from the shipment the mail lady left in the ditch in the heat this Summer. I have been buying them locally since then.

I have no idea what BG was this morning.  My pump failed me this morning and I spent almost 2 hours with Tandem on the phone trying to convince them that the pump had performed poorly twice in the last 6 months doing the same thing.

Sometimes resistance is futile when it comes to dealing with Tandem 'management'.  John's wife, Laura, was gracious enough to send me his pump shortly after he passed away.  I had the occasion to need it this morning.  After programming my settings into his pump, I attempted to connect to Tandem's online software.  But I was told that cannot be done.  The pump's ownership is registered to John and since he had passed, he could not give consent for me to connect to the Tandem software with his pump.  It makes NO sense to me, but rules are rules I guess.  I can still use the pump for insulin therapy, I just can't connect to T-connect mobile app on my phone.  I am worn out period.
