130 this morning.

Grammabear, I switched my recipe app from "Copy Me That" to "Recipe Keeper" a couple of weeks ago. You can get Recipe Keeper at the App Store and I really like it. It allowed me to import the 800 recipes I had in Copy Me That very easily, it works quickly and efficiently plus the one time I thought there was a problem the developer returned my e-mail in about an hour (on a Sunday). I think you also can scan recipes into it but I haven't tried that.

I was delighted yesterday to discover that my old Samsung Galaxy phone was indeed capable of using Wi-Fi for calls and text. I've been running up against so many places that insist on verification via cell phone that it was a real issue not having cell service here. But, although the settings are, in typical Android fashion, carefully hidden away, I found them and it works. Cool - I bought that phone for $26 refurbished a couple of years ago. Sure beats $1,000 for a new phone!

Thank you Tamagno for your input on the Recipe Keeper app.  It seems I am always taking a screenshot of a recipe I want to keep and then sending it to my PC or my phone where I often lose track of just what file I put it in.  An app like you mentioned would surely be more convenient.

I have heard the older Samsung phones are more dependable than some other cell phones.  I am glad yours has new life and hope it will serve you well.

We are expecting yet another winter storm later today and tomorrow.  We seem to be making up for lack of snow earlier in this winter season.

81 this morning.  Not very winter like here right now.  We are supposed to be in the low 70s for the next week.  I'm not complaining but would sure like to see some rain.
Tamagno, when I lived up on the mountain I found out that my iPhone was capable of calling over wi-fi and since we had no cell service there I was eager to try it out but my internet was over satellite, all that was available, and because of the latency in the signal it was almost impossible to use.  Here I don't need it most of the time but when the cable service drops out my phone will switch automatically and I can still get to the internet.  Pretty handy at times.

100 this cloudy morning.

40° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 37°/30°. Woke to a light dusting of snow. Chance of snow in the forecast for Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon.

I have been trying to download Big Sur since last night. It keeps timing out. It has gone the longest so far this time but the bar says 20 hours left...

Well it just timed out again. The time left bar said 31 days left... guess it is my service provider after all....

You should try that at non-peak hours. Maybe it will d/l faster.

I changed my CGM sensor yesterday and am again reminded just how fantastic the Dexcom G6 is when paired to Tandem's Control IQ. It's easier to change the sensor, requires no finger sticks to calibrate and is reliable, but mostly it's just so incredibly freeing in terms of how, what and when I eat. The software it downloads to shows I'm now nearly 85% of the time in target range - less trouble and better results; nothing better!

100 this morning.

Temperature here is just 9 deg F and it feels like -3 deg F.  Good day to stay inside.

Tamagno - The Dexcom G6 is being heavily advertised on television in this area as well as the Libre 2.  I like the G6 also and I'm glad it is working well for you.  Sure beats poking your fingers multiple times a day.

83 this morning.  We are supposed to be heading to 69° today and then 70° to 72° for the next ten days.  Not really like winter but I'll take it.
Tamagno, so glad you are having such good results with the G6.  It must be a relief.
Barbara, I guess your download speed must be the problem.  I didn't know you had waited so long.  I took me about an hour for the last update but that was not the download, that only took a few min. and then it was very long "preparing".  Your laptop in newer than mine so it should not be a problem.  I don't know what your download speed is but SKB may be right if you can choose a time that is less busy.

105 this lightly snowing morning.

38° was yesterday's high, today's forecast is 41°/30° with the possibility of rain showers this afternoon.

I have tried at several different times to do this upgrade including overnight. I'll try once more tonight before I go to bed...

Tamagno, glad you are so happy with the G6!

I have downgraded my internet package from 150 Mbps to 30 Mbps. It meets our requirements and I have checked the speed at various times, the promised 30 is delivered. Saves me some money.

Grammabear, I can recall stretches of time when I had to do finger sticks every hour. Sure am glad those are done with!

Our weather forecast is predicting another half foot of snow tomorrow. These days it's my wife doing the snow clearing about which she gets, um, obsessive so I'm sure she won't be happy. Inevitably, I suppose, I'm seeing ads for robot snow blowers. It seems unlikely that they'd have the wherewithal to deal with major snow and a very large area, but who knows? They're still pretty pricey, so likely we'll wait on that.

Tamagno - Every once in a while, and not often, but it happens that I will get a bad sensor in a box of 3 sensors.  The bad sensor can be 40-50 points off in one direction or the other.  I personally check twice a day, morning and evening just so I can know if my glucose readings are close to accurate.

It is cold here at 1 deg F (-17.22 deg C) and perhaps more snow is coming in a few days.

87 this morning.  Quite different here with daily temps around 70-71° for the next week.  One thing I don't miss about living on the mountain is shoveling snow.  We had a small tractor with a front bucket and that was great for clearing the driveway and larger areas but the walkways still had to be cleared with a shovel.  It was pretty though and it usually didn't last too long.
SKB, my cable is 100Mbps and my monthly allowance is 1000 GB and I am pretty happy with that.  I checked into other plans and the next step down was 60 Mbps and 600 GB a month which I think would probably be fine but it was only a savings of $10 a month so O decided to stay with what I have.  I do like the speed and I stream movies and Youtube with no problem and no buffering.  We never get close to the monthly cap and usually use around 200 GB a month but I can see a family with kids using a lot more.
