109 this lightly snowing morning.

42° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 37°/25° with periods of light snow. Next week is going to be very cold with a couple overnights in the single digit negative range.  ~shvr~

Didn't sleep well last night so feeling a little rough today. I usually sleep well, but every few months I'll have a night where I just toss and turn. I just hope I'm not getting sick, I have to go to the hospital on Wednesday for an ultrasound. I took my temp and was 98.2° so OK so far.

Quote from: walkerwally1 on February 06, 2021, 10:50:34 AMSKB, my cable is 100Mbps and my monthly allowance is 1000 GB and I am pretty happy with that.  I checked into other plans and the next step down was 60 Mbps and 600 GB a month which I think would probably be fine but it was only a savings of $10 a month so O decided to stay with what I have.  I do like the speed and I stream movies and Youtube with no problem and no buffering.  We never get close to the monthly cap and usually use around 200 GB a month but I can see a family with kids using a lot more.

Our packages are all Unlimited. It's only the speed that is capped. At 30Mbps I have no issues with any OTT platform. All content including movies stream in nicely at anything over 6 Mbps.

131 this morning.

Grammabear, I am able now to be more aware of serious hypos, and do finger sticks then. Otherwise, as far as I can tell, the G6 is likely as accurate as our home glucometers (keeping in mind that any given reading from them may be off as much as 20%). I confess, however, that I'm enjoying being lazy about testing.

Insofar as Valentines Day is next week and going out is largely impossible, I've been fretting over gifts for my wife. I found the following site which has an astounding array of gift foods:

https://www.goldbelly.com/

While many of the things there are sweets, many are interesting looking savory foods from all over. I ordered some Valentine cookies from a bakery in San Francisco that looked promising. I also saw a number of dinner options from New Orleans, Hawaii and Maine, that looked inviting but they're too expensive. Fun to look at in any event.

More snow expected here today along with temperatures similar to yours, BigSkyGal.

Tamagno, You are quite right about detecting serious hypos.  I don't worry so much about that especially at night and when I use the 'sleep mode'. Thank you for the gift website link.  It looks very interesting,

41° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 28°/21°. Woke to 8" of new snow and snow showers throughout the day. Well, Winter is finally here!!

Tamagno, that site is fascinating...a bit pricey but nonetheless I'm drooling over the Lunar New Year food!

We've got bitter cold here as well, Grammabear. I think just now the outside temperature is 2 degrees. We did have more snow again yesterday, but I think none is scheduled for today.

I'm off to see my oncologist this morning; not expecting any problems beyond the usual ones about gaining weight. I am going to ask her about the advisability of getting The Plague vaccine and will be curious to find out what she says.

Really glad I have no errands or appointments today as it is only 1 deg above zero and a high predicted of 9 deg above zero.

Around here there is no chance of getting the Covid vaccine as it is in short supply and is being given to healthcare workers first.  I don't expect to be given the chance for the "jabs" until much later in the year.

Does anyone, besides me, have a problem with wanting to snack after the evening meal?  We eat early around 5:30 p.m. and by 8 p.m. I am wanting 'something' to snack on.  That 'snack' used to be a cookie, which is obviously off the menu now and we don't even have them in the house.

77 this morning.  Not cold here and I really feel  for those of you having to deal with such low below freezing temps.  When it is that cold the snow gets really hard and becomes more like ice, not easy to shovel at all.  Stay inside and keep warm.
Grammabear, no, after dinner I am full and don't feel like a snack later.  We eat around 5-6 PM also but I am in bed early.
The state has opened up eligibility for the vaccine to people over 65 now but here there is no vaccine available and they don't have an idea when it will be.  I have no qualms taking the vaccine and because of my age and having diabetes I am eager for the protection from it but will have to wait.  I have never had any problem with any allergic reaction so that is not a worry.
Tamagno, I don't envy you having to go out in that weather, be safe.
I have been playing around with the MacBook and I am using it now to see if I can get used to using it.  I have viewed several tutorials on Youtube and I am finding how to navigate better. There are some things different from Windows that take getting used to like the scroll wheel on the mouse moves in the opposite direction and the controls for closing and minimizing the window are on the opposite corner that I have to remember.  I am using a bluetooth mouse with it but the trackpad works very well also.  I am amazed at how good the little speakers on this thing work.  I have a 16" Lenovo laptop that doesn't have near the quality of sound.

103 this snowy morning.

35° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 30°/12°. At least is not as frigid here yet... Still have huge piles of snow, haven't shovelled except to get to the TV dish receiver to clear it off. I don't have to go anywhere today, the garbage can wait another week to go up to the head of the road. I am seriously considering rescheduling my ultrasound Wed. Then I can just wait it out.

I practice intermittent fasting, I only eat in an 8 hour window, so no, I do not snack after dinner.

I presume that, that is your last meal, or in other words supper/dinner. 5:30 pm is really a good time to have it. I get back home only by 7:00 pm, so I have my last meal by 7:30-8:00. Then a couple of hours of TV and most of the time I fall asleep while watching TV. The time difference between dinner and bed is not that long so there is no eating in between. Should that be stretched, I probably would have had a bite or two.

Sweety

91 reading today morning.

I have never been in snow. It must be really very cold there. A silly question. Can you eat the snow or use it in water  :-[
Diabetic ?

Tamagno

121 this morning.

Sweety, it's funny you should ask as this winter for the first time I'm seeing recipes that use snow. A general rule of thumb, however, is that one ought never eat yellow snow...

I've taken to snacking actually during the night in an effort to gain weight. I never can eat all of my evening meal, so I generally finish that or at least some of it during the night.

Wally, amazingly, probably the best sound I get is from my little and very cheap Fire tablet; not a lot of volume but it reproduces directional sound exceptionally well. Add to that a really decent picture and it's pretty good for watching movies in bed.

Turns out my liver enzymes which had been trending upward have taken a sharp turn up and are now significantly high. My oncologist wants a new CAT scan that I'll get in about a week. I've no indication of any sort of liver failure outside of fatigue nor have I had so much as a drop of alcohol in probably 20 years, I don't use NSAIDs or any other meds that would cause that. No reason to suspect hepatitis either unless it came from a transfusion. However, my lungs now have significant fluid from aspirated foods, etc. I guess something is going on, but I've no idea what. Guess I'll find out.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow

Sweety - The above link is from wikipedia and 'sort of' explains what snow is.  Snow is white and cold and wet all at the same time.  When I was a child, my grandmother used to let us dress warmly, gather some freshly fallen snow carefully, bring it quickly back into the house where she would add some delicious flavoring and make homemade snow ice cream.  I have no idea how she did it, she just made it occasionally after a new snowfall.

One has to dress with extra layers of warm clothing for your body, hands and head.  If you are to be outside for an extended period of time, you will need special shoes called boots for your feet to keep them warm.

Snow is looked upon by adults as an annoyance because it accumulates on the roadway, driveway and rooftops.  It must be removed from all those surfaces unless it does not accumulate a great deal on the roof.  Children, on the other hand love to play in the snow.  They make what we call a snowman, which is snow rolled up into a big ball and decorated.  The fascination with snow seems to fade as one gets older.  Snow is also desirable as moisture for trees and grass once the snow melts in the Spring.
