129 this morning.

I'm flying blind this morning as my CGM is misbehaving. It may need a new transmitter, but I'm tracking down a couple other things before I go quite that far.

Amazingly (and fortunately) I search through my stack of extra greeting cards on hand revealed a decent Valentines Day card I can give my wife. I had ordered some special cookies from a bakery on the west coast, so I'm reasonably well covered without having to go out.

Tamagno - If your transmitter is under 3 months old, be sure to call Dexcom and have it replaced.  Depending on your insurance Dexcom replaces transmitters that quit before their expiration period.  Same goes for sensors that quit early, they are very good about replacing them.
p.s.  My sensor that I inserted 2-12-21 "fell off" after I took a shower this morning.  Two frickin days is all I got out of this one.  Called Dexcom, they are sending a replacement plus a box of 'over patches'.  The over patches are free which tells me that Dexcom knows that the adhesive on the sensors is sadly lacking.  I shall tape this sensor as best I can to avoid it falling off.  :(

No way are we going out today as it is -6 deg f with a wind chill of -24 deg F.  Its just too cold period.

86 this morning.  The wind really blew all day yesterday and finally quit early morning.  Some areas saw gusts as high as 70 MPH and trees were down but not that bad here.
Hope those of you dealing with ice and snow can stay in and keep warm.

Those wind gusts you folks had in your area are not good.  We have winds from the north west at 14 mph making it feel like -22deg F.

How were the cookies you ordered, and if allowed, can you tell us where you ordered from?

112 this cloudy morning.

14° was the high yesterday, surprise! Today's forecast is 20°/14°, a heat wave! LOL

Boy was I exhausted after yesterday's shopping trip! Between loading the car at the store and unloading at home, it took me a long time to warm up. But at least I am stocked up for a while. I really don't relish going out on Wed for the ultrasound. My dr appointment to review it is at the end of July so don't really know why the rush

Grammabear, Tamagno posted a link in one of his Fasting posts. I think this is it: https://www.goldbelly.com/holidays/valentines-day I Checked it out and some things look really good but it is pricey.

110 this morning.

I got my CGM problems solved by installing a new transmitter. I'm not exactly sure when I inserted it, but my note says mid-March of last year which I doubt is possible and must be an error. I'll have to figure another way of finding out, or maybe I'll just call Dexcom. In any event, I never got any of the usually endless reminders that it was due to fail, so something untoward happened with it. Of course, installing a new transmitter entails also inserting a new sensor, and that one was only about a day old. I think I will just call Dexcom in awhile and see if they'll send me replacements.

It's funny as it's quite cold here (lower 20s) but just enough warmer that the house doesn't have the sort of frigid feeling it can get with bitter cold so it's not too bad.

97 this morning.  Weather here is nice but storm system heading from Texas to New England is going to really cause problems with snow and ice.  We are going to stay in the 60s to 70s for a while.  I'm pretty good with that.

117 this cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 20°, two different forecasts from two different sites for today: the one I usually use 30°/14° (Weather Channel app on phone), the other wunderground 32°/24°. If I could choose, I'd take the second one!

Missing Grammabear, hope all is OK there.

Plumber was here bright and early and all is well again with the water...phew! I have to remember t have the filter replaced about every 6 months!!!

114 this morning....

And then the blood glucose went to H***.  I am now sitting at 288 and after a complete change of insulin, infusion set and tubing, and a manual injection via syringe to try and bring down that high number.  I do NOT want to go to the ER just for a high blood glucose number.  I had a BAD site go wrong and now I wait.

It is -4 deg F with a wind chill of -25 deg F.  Tomorrow was supposed to be an appointment with the Podiatrist for me, BUT I am not going to have my husband wait in the car for me (he is not allowed in the building) so I cancelled the appointment.

119 today morning.

Grammabear, hope that number is back to normal by now and you are feeling better. Both of you T1s keep running into these problems regularly and I feel so helpless that there is nothing that we can do even in terms of advice because you know the subject best and how to handle these problems.

149 this morning.

SKB, thanks for the sentiment, but in the end most all of running pumps and CGMs comes down to the users own experience living with them. Help/advice are always welcome, however.

Grammabear, I'm assuming you got your glucose down and that all is well - I wouldn't want to go in for DKA either and will do most anything to avoid it. By the way, I spoke to Dexcom who are sending me a new sensor and transmitter.

Actually a bit of a warm spell with highs in the 40s for a few days.

skb - I cannot speak for John, but for me and super high glucose numbers usually happen because of equipment malfunction.  Because there can be so many reasons why glucose goes high, sometimes it is most difficult to recognize the reason for high numbers.  Once a user recognizes that there is a problem that can be fixed at home, it is a matter of time.  Usually for me it takes loads of extra insulin because high glucose makes one super resistant to insulin even though it might be injected in a 'good' spot.

Tamagno - I'm glad you spoke with Dexcom and they are replacing said sensor and transmitter.  I recently had a transmitter go bad right out of the box.  It would not pair with the pump, nor would it cooperate with all the trouble shooting steps the technician had me to do over the phone.  This kind of thing does not happen often, but be aware that it can happen.  My high glucose number ended up at 339 before it started its downward descent.  All totaled it took over 8 hours to get it to that point.  I had a wicked headache for most of the day.  Took a Tylenol before bed and today numbers are much better and headache is gone.

Our weather might get up to 18 deg F which is very welcome after below zero weather.  :)

96 this morning.  The weather is a big story for much of the USA and it looks like Texas got hit very hard.  Heavy snow and ice from Texas to Maine is causing a lot of problems.  The Pacific Northwest is getting heavy snow also and I am sure it will be moving to the East.  Here it remains mild with temps in the 60s and next week we will be in the 70s.  The only downside is that there is no rain in sight and usually February is a good month for rain here.
