BigSkyGal, raccoons aren't something I like having around. I've often used a Hav-a-Hart trap to catch them and then relocate them to a public woods several miles away.

The thing about bananas is that their sugar content increases as they ripen. When my wife has some around I'll take one of the less ripe ones and cut it into large sections and then freeze them to use later in a smoothie; much easier to stay on top of their sugar while still getting to enjoy the flavor.

Our forecast is calling for more snow today ending around 7pm. It's still quite cold, but next week supposed to get up to 50!

We have three resident squirrels that have taken abode in our trees closer to the house.  We feed the songbirds daily and now the squirrels have taken notice of that.  Squirrels have already destroyed one bird feeder, hope they don't get the others.  I might have to get my Benjamin BB out of retirement.

Despite ignoring the desire for a forbidden food, I still have the longing for said item.  Then I put a piece of greener banana on my plate and take the insulin for it.  Its hard to watch someone else eat the same item with great relish.

101 this morning.  A bit cool this morning with 31° at 5:00 AM but warming up to 69° later so not bad at all.  Boy, Texas has really been hit hard.  Lots of people dealing with tough problems.  Hope you all stay safe and warm.
When I was living on the mountain we had a lot of "creatures" that came by, mostly squirrels, snakes and birds but an occasional skunk, bear or bobcat.  Interestingly I never saw a racoon there.
Here in town it's mostly dogs and cats and birds.  No wild creatures.

110 this mostly cloudy morning.

32° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 37°/21° with a slight chance of rain or snow. It is already up to 41°

I am basically out in the country with lots of wide open spaces around. Deer frequently come by as well as raccoons and the occasional lynx. Lots of birds, my feral cats and an occasional squirrel.  No way would I be able to relocate any of them... or want to for that matter.

When I came to live where I do, this place was "out-of-town" and surrounded by forests and glades. Now, the city has overtaken us and the dearth of open ground in the already developed regions means that most of the high rises come up where I live. I now have 6 buildings that are 48 floors tall adjoining my property. The next 3 that were planned have already been announced as 67 floors tall. At some point in time I will sell out and move away. I'm just waiting for a more opportune time.

81 this morning.

Gosh, SKB, that much development surrounding me is something I'd find very disturbing. It's extraordinarily unlikely here for many reasons, though. I hope that means that at least when you decide to sell you'll get a really good price.

In my usual pre-coffee morning fog I managed to drop a travel mug set in a heavy base on my foot. Fortunately, it contained only Cristal Lite lemonade but I got it in my shearling lined slippers where it also broke my skin. It's interesting in that the shearling really didn't absorb much fluid at all and will dry quickly, I think. I'm not sure how else to clean those as they can't go in the wash. The cut itself doesn't look too bad, thankfully.

It's still very cold here and the snow just seems to keep falling.

Tamagno - I trust your cut will heal soon without any complications.  Your pre-coffee morning fog reminds me of myself until the coffee in my cup is being absorbed internally.  Sometimes it takes me about an hour to fully wake up.

The weather forecaster promises warmer weather for next week.  We shall see.  Anything above zero would be welcome.

89 this morning.  Warmer this morning but really windy.  It looks like we will have winds around 25-30 MPH for most of the day.  I'm not fond of wind but at least it is not cold here.
Gosh Tamagno, hope your cut is OK.  Last week I was walking in the house barefoot ,I know better but don't always do the smart thing, and I slammed my big toe into the step from the back porch into the kitchen.  It hurt like the dickens and turned black and blue the next day but the day after I was able to do OK with putting a shoe on.  It is still sore so I am not sure if I may have broken something but I guess it will heal.

Snap Wally! 89 here this cloudy morning too.

It got all the way up to 48° yesterday, lots of melting. Today's forecast is 36°/27°.

Hope your foot heals quickly Tamagno. And your toe too Wally.

I hope so, but at the moment the property is mortgaged and unless I pay off the Bank, nothing is possible. Work wise things are pretty bad especially after Covid as most of the industry is in shambles.

Hope your cut heals quickly.

101 this morning.

SKB, it must be terribly difficult to get much done in the development/building trades these days. It'll have to reach some accommodation, of course, but what that will be is still open to question. So many businesses are similarly having to transform themselves; I suppose the more creative entrepreneurs will see it as an opportunity, but I confess I'm glad I'm retired. My own profession in the performing arts is one that's now virtually dead at least as far as live performances are concerned - even people at the very top of that are now spending their evenings twiddling their thumbs instead of going to their dressing rooms at the theater. I'm hopeful you'll be someone who thrives as your work is transformed.

Wally, that sounds ugly and I'm sure painful - I guess there's not much you can do but wait for it to heal...

Its still cold and snowy here, but I notice days are noticeably longer with the sun rising earlier and setting later with every passing day.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but Covid changed everyone's life and I guess we're all lucky to be here talking about it.

My husband is retired also but we feel 'trapped' at home because it is no longer considered safe to be in the few stores that are open.  I never thought I would miss 'shopping' where I wanted or shopping for anything I need.  Weeks go by where we don't see only the grocery delivery person who delivers our goods weekly.  I miss conversations in person with other people - we both do.

101 this morning.  Wind has quit and it is going to be a nice day today.  There is a "Pineapple Express" heading to the North west that will bring heavy rain to Washington and Oregon but it will not get down this far South.  Here it is going to warm up to the 70s the next few days.
Yeah Tamagno. that banging my toe did hurt but it looks good and is just sore.  I suspect I may have fractured something because it has been sore for over a week but I am sure it will be OK.  You would think that I would learn not to walk around barefoot but you would be wrong.
Around here the overall effect from covid has been a lot less than in other areas.  Businesses over all have done OK and construction is going on as usual.   I don't look at shopping as a social event and just go get what I need and go home.  I guess I really am kind of a hermit, I like being home.

103 this cloudy morning.

42° was yesterday's high, today's forecast is 39°/34° but it is already 40° so it may go a bit higher. It is a little breezy but it comes in spurts. Also a chance of a few snow flurries.

Wally, I am definitely a hermit! Pre Covid I'd go out to shop about once a week, now I only go out every 2 weeks, sometimes three. I too prefer to be at home. Now though there is a tinge of fear when I go out that I might catch Covid...
