78 this morning.  Another nice day here with the high around 70° but overnight lows around 30°.  Still, mostly Spring like weather.
My BIL and I live in the same house and he is a plumbing contractor and out working with a lot of other people so the chance that he could be infected is always there.  I also go shopping one or two times a week so I feel that the vaccine is important.  I have never had a bad reaction from a shot so I am not worried about that but I can understand if you have had a bad reaction it would be a concern.  I don't believe there will ever be a mandate for everyone to get vaccinated but the more that do the better for everyone.

41° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 51°/27°.

Inertia has me firmly in its grip. I don't have to go out so I probably won't today either... but I soon will need to go to the PO.

118 today morning.

Vaccination program is in full swing here. Front line workers have already been given the shots and people over 60 with "co-morbidity" are next. This means that I am qualified. We have a govt app which gives me the option to 'register' for the shot. From the amount of exposure I have had since May I'm pretty certain that I would have got the virus by now and the only reason that I have not, is that I have the immunity to it. Given that, I'm not inclined to take the shots, but I certainly feel that in the years to come a lot of day to day living is going to be linked with whether you've taken the vaccine or not. So I think I will have to get it.

Here's a picture of me and ami in a paddy field shelter. This field has a lot of tiger visits and we had gone there to check.

Great photo, SKB; you look quite the adventurer in this one!

Vaccinations here are very much a question of available supply and scheduling can be difficult as a result, often with available vaccines being only on hand quite far away. It's not at all like your usual flu shot. In my very informal survey of those who've had it, the majority experience significant reactions as did I. However, in this area, most who have contracted the more virulent strain of the virus have died within a few days. The vaccine is reportedly 95% effective in preventing onset of that virus making it worth the difficulties in getting it.

skb - Your picture is awesome.  I've never seen a paddy field.  Glad you had a good time away from everyday responsibilities.

Ahh...vaccines.  Our next neighbor called yesterday and said if we wanted vaccines, that our local Senior center has a shipment of vaccines.  So I called them, left a message and they returned my call within 20 minutes.  Both my husband and I have an appointment this Saturday if they don't run out of vaccines before our number comes up.  We shall see.

Tamagno - what kind of reactions did you have if you don't mind elaborating?  I'm concerned that with both of us getting the injections on the same day, that both of us may be "punky" at the same time.

94 this morning.  I did get the vaccine yesterday and I really didn't have any reaction to it other than feeling a bit more tired than usual.  My SIL also got hers yesterday and went home and slept for about 4 hours but was fine after that.  I have to say that the hospital here that is giving the vaccines was very well organized and it went quite well.  It was a drive through and they had all of the paperwork done ahead of time and I just had to sign the authorization for the shot and they give it to you in the car and then you are parked and wait for 15 min. to make sure you are OK before leaving.  I am feeling fine this morning so all seems good.  They also scheduled me for the second shot on 3/30.  I do feel better getting it and I think any discomfort from the injection is better than getting the disease.
Grammabear, everyone is different so what kind of reaction you have can be a lot different that someone else.  I think feeling "punky" would be better than both of you in the hospital at the same time.

Cool photo skb.

Glad your experience with the vaccine was easy Wally and SIL's too. I find it interesting that Tamagno's experience seems common to his area. I wonder if it was the type of vaccine?

Paddy (or rice) is grown traditionally in most of India where it rains a lot. If you look at the picture carefully, you'll see that small segments of the field are encased on all 4 sides with earthen dams about 3-4 feet high. The field is thus able to retain the rain water and rice can be planted.

The Mrs is quite fond of getting her pictures taken. I'm not. Here she is along a forest stream. We found scores of traces of tiger pugmarks and scat, but unfortunately missed the young female that we were stalking. Too many people, I think.

Tiger stalking in India sounds very exotic to me, SKB. I guess they must be diurnal, but hadn't really thought about it. Some of the large cats we get here have very pungent odors making them easy to find, though most of us avoid them.

I got the Moderna vaccine. Side effects took several hours to kick in, but included serious fatigue, chills but no fever, headache, loss of appetite, nausea and joint ache. Keep in mind that I'm very slight and not, um, in the best of health. The side effects subsided in roughly 24 hours and in 48 hours were gone. My wife had virtually none of those, but many of her coworkers at the hospital had them. I've no idea if there's anything that indicates predisposition to the side effects.

skb - Thank you for explaining about paddy fields.  It is always interesting to me to learn about other parts of the world as I've never traveled outside the U.S.  Are snakes common around the paddy fields?

Tamagno - The side effects you describe sound like those that my sister experienced.  My sister works in a Doctors clinic where they see sometimes over 100 people in one days time.

I'm glad the vaccine is becoming more widely available so that people who want it can take advantage of it.

Our snow is melting fast now that the daytime temperatures reached 50 deg F yesterday.  It was our first 50 degree day this year.  Hoping for more such days.  Looking forward to Spring.

83 this morning.  Weather here remains quite nice with a high today around 70° but still no rain in sight.  February and March are usually our best months for rain but not this year.
I like the pictures SKB.  It is always nice to see pics from another country.  I saw a lot of rice paddies on my tour in Vietnam.
We are getting the Moderna vaccine here also so it may not be a factor which one you get.  The only other thing I noticed is soreness at the injection site but not bad.  I understand that some effects may show up a few days later but so far nothing new.

It is quite thrilling indeed. Have done it a lot when I was younger. I have been a regular visitor to the deeper forests since 1993. Those days there weren't many who were interested in wild life and conservation. I've had a couple of encounters with tigers and lions at very close quarters. On one occasion I was all geared up for photographing birds and was carting a camera with a very heavy 500 mm lens, when I came across a huge male tiger resting in a pool of water. I came to within 12 feet of him and photographed him for 5 hours. The fellow was so indulged in the cool comfort that he wouldn't budge. I couldn't keep him in my frame because the lens was not suited for that kind of photography. Ultimately I got tired and backed off, but the tiger didn't. Of course there were others with me. I wouldn't venture that close if I was alone. And yes, they do have a strong pungent smell, more so in places they urinate and mark territory. the worst smell comes from wild dogs.
