skb - Thank you for explaining about paddy fields.  It is always interesting to me to learn about other parts of the world as I've never traveled outside the U.S.  Are snakes common around the paddy fields?

Snakes are to be found in nature, everywhere. Since I live in a (once) forested area we have had resident snakes in our property from time to time. Most of the time they are rat snakes which though quite big are harmless. But sometimes we can encounter a poisonous Cobra, like this encounter;

Quite cold here overnight and this morning. Next week promises temperatures approaching 60.

Don't know if it affected any of you, but the Fitbit servers were down the last couple of days. Since that happened their iOS app has been unstable with certain functions causing the app to close. Later today I'm going to see if I can find some sort of work around.

Barbara - You must be so proud of DD.  Congratulations to her on her promotion.

The cobra videos is quite a sight.  We don't have snakes of that size in our area - if we have a snake it would be small and light green.  We call them garter snakes.

It is cold here this morning too.  But our snow is melting quite fast and it is beginning to warm during the day up to 50.  For now I can handle warmer weather.

Tamagno - I wondered what was going on with Fitbit app as my better half and I went to the warehouse grocery store in another city and did some shopping and a LOT of walking but fitbit said "zero".

88 this morning.  We are supposed to get to 75° today and around that through the weekend.  Now they are showing a chance of rain on Wednesday, only 30% but still a chance.
Congratulations to your DD Barbara.  Quite an achievement.
We don't see snakes here in town much but when I was living in the mountains we had a variety.  Gopher snakes which are large and look a lot like rattle snakes but are harmless and rattle snakes that are dangerous.  We had mountain lions and bobcats and bears and I never had an urge to go looking for them.
Interesting that you have had problems with Fitbit.  I have not noticed and interruption with mine or the app on my phone.  Maybe it is intermittent and I just haven't hit it when down.

BigSkyGal, please be careful about those falls! I know that when I broke my hip I was told I had osteoporosis and that any further falls would likely produce similar results. Since then I've taken care to add handholds in various places and am mindful of keeping floors free from things over which I might trip. Besides the pain involved, I don't want rehab or anything like that and I'm sure you agree.

As an aside, I've often thought that our bipedal method of locomotion is extremely odd and something that seems an unlikely development from a Darwinian viewpoint. If you talk with anyone engaged in robotics it's often discussed as something extremely difficult to replicate. C.S. Lewis's "Voyage of the Dawn Trader" contains scenes with human-like creatures that are really very funny once you realize they're meant to poke a bit of fun at humankind in a similar fashion.

Addendum regarding Fitbit. Since the outage, their mobile app is no longer working as it should or did before. There's quite a bit of discussion about it, but so far the consensus is that no amount of fiddling with it makes any improvement. Fitbit says they're aware of it and working on a fix but there's no indication when that might be.

This is 'the' morning for strange things.  My normal morning routine is to remove humidifier chamber from my cpap machine and take it to the kitchen to clean it, fill it and replace it in the cpap machine.  Today it will not release from the machine no matter how much I wiggle it.  I cannot tip it up as that would allow water into the machinery itself.  I am totally frustrated.

Today is the first Covid vaccine date for hubby and myself too.

75 this morning.  We got up to 75° yesterday and it should be the same today and then it cools down a bit.  Yesterday the weather service predicted a 42% chance of rain Wednesday and this morning they say 23%.  I suspect we will only get wind and plenty of that.
I agree with Tamagno, after breaking my hip I have taken every precaution I can to avoid falls.  I had a bone scan and I don't have any sign of osteoporosis but the bones can still break.  Take care Barbara, hope you feel better soon.
Interesting that I haven't noticed any change or problem with the Fitbit app on my iPhone but I just use it to keep track of steps and sleep.  I'm just curious but what kind of problems are you having ?
