145 this morning.

A predicted high this afternoon of 66! BigSkyGal, the dirt roads to our house are also a muddy wreck. I found out about having your shoes sucked off in mud some time back - definitely not a pleasant experience, either when it happens or cleaning up.

Wally, if the weather services are indeed using crystal balls for their predictions it would explain a lot...

111 this morning.

My childhood home had a dirt driveway and over the years it truly became more and more difficult to get a car in and out of it.  As my Dad became older he could not get the car out if it became stuck.  He paid someone to haul gravel to the drive and spread it around.  That worked for a long time until the drive once again became a mudhole.  Then he decided to have the driveway paved with blacktop.  That solved his problem.  As a child the mud was an "attraction" but my mother did not think so especially if my sister and I played in it.

Yesterday we hit our first 70 degree mark ever on this date, but today its a little over freezing.  Its quite a change from one day to the next.

My husband and I have our first Covid vaccine and will get the second shot on April 3 if supplies hold steady.

100 this morning.  Yeah Tamagno, I actually think if they really did use crystal balls it may be more accurate at times.  Instead they rely on "computer models" which often conflict and say the opposite so it is just choosing which one to pick.  Kind of like tossing a coin.  There was a fair amount of snow in the mountains the last couple of days and rain on the coastal side of the mountains with the usual mudslides in areas that burned last summer.
Grammabear, the majority of the West is in a drought and even though there has been some rain and snow it is well below normal.
Dental appointment was OK but I have a crown that has cracked and has decay under it so it has to be replaced.  Times like this I am glad I have dental insurance.

108 this blue sky morning.

42° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 46°/21° and sunny. I just hope that the road dries up enough so I can get out tomorrow. My neighbor has been dragging the road so hopefully that will help too. At times I sort of feel like a prisoner here...between the Covid and the mud...

122 again today.

I think the problem lies in 'human' interpretation of the computer data output. Many layers of departmental hierarchy and politics come into play and they end up messing the weather predictions completely.

87 this morning.

Wally, my Fitbit app is once again behaving normally; interestingly, the app I use for showing me server outages for various things now shows Fitbit okay.

Once as a kid I recall playing joyously in a mud hole until my Dad called me in. Naturally, I realized I was filthy so scraped myself off on Dad's freshly white washed garage. After that I also remembered I was dressed in my Sunday best and that Dad's boss had come for dinner - I then was made aware of a new use for Dad's belt...

Well, the main dirt roads here are maintained by the town which does a pretty good job. Our little private road, however, is another matter and these days could use some work.

Well, I got fooled recently when I bought a package of Green Giant 'Veggie Fries' and did not read the ingredients label completely.  The front of the bag indicated it was mainly zucchine, garlic and parmesan cheese.  That part was true, but my vision with my present glasses does not allow for smaller print reading.  Last night after my BG spiked to 231, I asked my husband to read the ingredient list for me.  It included somewhere in the middle a thing called "potato starch" which I suspect might be responsible for the BG spike.  The veggie fries were an impulse purchase and now I deeply regret it.  ???

bit cool this morning with the temp. at 6:AM of 33° and heading to 55° today but warming up and next week we are supposed to be in the mid 70s.
Interesting Tamagno, I wonder why you were having problems and I never seemed to.  Sometimes these things can be tough to figure out.
Grammabear, I do look at ingredients but the thing I look at the most is the listed carbs per serving and then closely look at what they state as a serving.  Sometimes the serving size is no way what you would normally eat and you have to adjust the carbs to reality.  There can be a lot of "hidden carbs" in packaged foods.

96 this sunny morning.

42° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 48°/25° and clear.

I agree with you Wally, I do check ingredients but also the serving size and carb count to decide if the item is something I want to risk eating.

Going to venture out today, hopefully the road is in better shape than it was on Monday...

122 for the third day in a row. Hope my meter is not stuck to that number.

Thankfully I've never been belted. Slapped once in a while, yes, but never anything more than that.

Reading and understanding ingredients is not easy. And then the effects have a whole set of variables. Ultimately YMMV rules.

You all want to know the worst part of the high blood sugar numbers I had from indulging in the 'veggie fries'?  They tasted absolutely delicious......and now that I know what they do/did to me I probably will not buy them again.  I normally avoid potatoes, except new potatoes from my husband's garden, but these fries were exceptionally tasty. ::)

Grammabear, there are so many snack foods out there and somehow they're amazingly good. If I buy them I find that after a bite or two I no longer notice much but the crunch, so I find chips and the like easy to resist. I do miss French fries, though and so far haven't found any replacement snacks bought or home made that can touch good French fries.

96 this morning.

Tamagno - A number of years ago when our sons were small children, we visited their paternal grandparents.  My MIL was a superior cook.  They lived on a farm and often grew a lot of their own food as they had a huge garden.  MIL would occasionally make homemade french fries for our sons as she knew they "loved" them.  Truth is - us adults loved them too :)  You're right - not much can touch good fries.  I'm glad my sons have beautiful memories like that of their grandparents.

Yesterday I had a debacle of sorts.  My new SE iphone decided it wanted a break from the usual routine.  I ended up taking it to the carrier store in town where the young lady was able to unlock it and get it working again.  Then I had to download all the apps again.  It taught me to 'back it' up immediately upon downloading all apps.  Not doing that again, I hope.

I saw the optometrist yesterday too and I need new eyeglasses, so ordered them.  Good grief, they are not cheap these days. ::)

My younger son is adopting a new puppy and naming her "Daisy".  He is excited and I guess I can't blame him.  The puppy is really cute.

102 this morning.  We did get a little rain yesterday evening but only enough to wet the pavement.  They have had around 18 inches of snow in the Sierras though and that helps.
My phone automatically backs up to the cloud so if it crashed it would be easy to set it back up again although I don't really have anything stored on it that I would miss.  It does make it easy to set up a new phone though.
Sometimes living with my BIL makes it a bit hard to avoid things I should.  He is not diabetic and eats anything he wants to and sweet snacks I have no problem staying away from but French Fries are my downfall.  The problem is that I am OK with one or two but I never can stop there.
