119 this morning.

Personally I like the phone or video doctor visits, but the clinic where I go, doesn't offer them anymore.  The healthcare system (University of Wisconsin) that runs the clinic where my doctor works lost a lot of money with the phone/video visits.  Now they require everyone to make an appearance at their facility.  Kinda stupid on their part in my opinion.  I went there Wednesday for a lab appointment and there weren't any seats available in the waiting room, so I had to stand away from the nearest person til my turn came at the lab.  Not a good thing in my opinion.

91 this morning.  No change in the weather and it looks like we will be sunny and mild for a while.  Pretty nice for January.
My doctors office hasn't used phone or video visits and I am OK with that.  They follow pretty strict safety measures and since I am in town my farthest trip is only 3 miles.  For lab work they don't let people wait inside, you have to wait outside or in your car and they call you on your cell when it is your turn.  Kind of a pain but it works.
I use Norton Security Suite on my computer and devices and one feature is a VPN for all of them.  I haven't noticed any slowing but I am also not sure how effective the VPN is.  I just assume it works OK.

99 this sunny morning.

Yesterday's high was 39°, today's forecast is 37°/21°. Weather looks to be the same for about the next 10 days.

No video dr appointments here either, but then I have to have labs for each of the 2 doctors so I have to go in. But then I see one dr once a year and the other 2 times a year so not so bad.

Grammabear, I expect the amounts of money spent by hospitals and doctors to facilitate seeing patients digitally is staggering.  I followed the whole thing as my wife's clinic (hospital affiliate) tried to get that set up. It was a train wreck of over priced hardware and software accompanied by IT people who weren't entirely sure what to do and still has tons of problems.

Anyway, it's really cold this morning with temperatures in single digits. I woke late because it was a dark, moonless morning, the house was cold and I was plain lazy.

88 this cloudy morning.

Weather remains about the same it is 30° right now heading for a possible 39°.

Day before yesterday I had a new stray wander by. The most beautiful seal point siamese with gorgeous blue eyes and a racoon striped tail. Never saw one with that kind of tail before.  It was gorgeous!  Ate some of the leftover food on the porches but was extremely shy and bolted when I went to the window to look at it.  I hope it comes back if it is lost, otherwise I hope it finds the way back home.

SKB, I like your "tie my laces and take charge" statement - can't say I've heard it before. I think I'll start using it.

BigSkyGal, that stray sounds remarkable. I'll be curious to find out how she does.

Very cold here once more with gray skies and all with that slightly claustrophobic feel that sets in every year around now. Good day to stay in.

Have been used to it and using it since school. Maybe it's a British English thing. I found quite a few versions.

skb - I, too, have never heard that expression but do so enjoy the link you shared.  There are so many versions of your saying.

bigskygal - The kitty you saw sounds like someone's pet except for the fact that he/she was very skittish.  We live near a 4 lane highway and also not far from Illinois tollway 90, so over the years we've seen our far share of unwanted pets dropped off in our neighborhood.  It makes me sad when people just 'kick' a pet out of their lives.

I need to ask this question, just in case someone has an answer.  When you all go to the doctor's office, do they ever bother to explain why they might be ordering a certain blood test?  The nephrologist ordered $6,000 worth of bloodwork, the rheumatologist ordered a bunch more tests and I still have no answers and it has been 6 months.  I am beginning to feel like an 'income generator'.

88 this morning.  It looks now like we will have a "heat wave" next week.  It is supposed to get up to 75° next week and in the Los Angeles area they will be in the 80s.  Quite a change from the 28° I am seeing right now.  No moisture in sight though.
My doctor has always been very good at explaining what she is doing a test for and discussing the results.  I have learned though that if you don't get an explanation  you have to ask.

92 this partly cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 40°, today's forecast is 36°/21°. It is 30° right now, it may get there...

One thing my drs have all been good at is explaining why they order test and then going over the results when they come back. PCP not so good with diabetes stuff though...

Grammabear, I have never seen that kitty before and it hasn't been back since. It looked well taken care of s I think maybe it just wandered away from home. Hopefully it found its way back. It sure was beautiful!

They should explain why the tests are being ordered. I think your assessment of being an 'income generator' is correct. They are making money off your insurance. If that affects your co-pay you should take it up with higher authority.
