127 this morning.

We had a lilac trying to 'bud out' in January before we got any snow.  Bushes have gone back to hibernation for now.  Strange events this year.  I saw Jonquil flowers trying to break ground just last week, also before the snow.

88 this morning.  It is going to start warming up with a predicted high of 75° today. We will see a dip over the weekend and some wind then back up to the 70s.  I have to admit I am enjoying the warmer weather.
We don't have a lot of flowers here but the Iris in front are quite pretty in the Spring and there are miniature rose bushes in front that bloom all summer long.
At i\times the desert really comes alive with wildflowers but with so little rain this year I don't expect much.

109 this clear sunny morning.

55° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 63°/37°.

There's a small chance of rain tomorrow morning. I am still going to wait until tomorrow to go out, giving the road one more day to dry out.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that! We are holding fairly well at a low level...143 new cases yesterday statewide.

DD and her MIL had 2X Moderna and her wife 2x Pfizer with no real problems. But they are all very healthy people. DD is now pressuring me to get the vax, guilt trip...don't you want to see us??? Arrgggh!

Besides the anaphylactic reaction to Paxil, I have fallen into the 1% category of bad reactions for at least 5-6 different drugs maybe even a few more that I don't remember. I still have great reservations over taking the vaccination right now. And even if I did, I wouldn't feel safe flying to CA... A bad situation family-wise... Again I say Arrrggghh!

90 this morning.

I've got a huge magnolia tree that blooms too early every year along with my best lilac. Sadly, those early blossoms never last and are gone at the next frost. Also, deer this winter have been ignoring my fencing, poking holes through it and dining on plants all around. No idea yet how much they've eaten and hopefully they've acquired a taste only for nasty brambles, but I'll have to wait to see.

Once again our snow is melted and I hope it is the last time until next winter.  Hubby spied a "gang" of gophers dining on the compost pile trimmings yesterday.  We are not happy to see them so early.  Last year they ate the entire crop of green bean seedlings so we had to plant a second time and put up chicken wire fencing around the entire garden.  We are lucky we don't have lots of deer that visit our place.

81 this morning.  Well, we did hit the 75° mark yesterday and supposed to get to 78° today.  Wind starting up this evening and much cooler tomorrow with lots of wind but next week looks like it will be warming up again.  Pretty nice right now in the desert and enjoying it until the Summer heat gets here.
Barbara, I don't blame you for feeling wary of getting the vaccine with your experience.  As long as you are able to avoid exposure you are probably quite safe.  I have never had any allergic reaction to any drugs so I didn't hesitate to get the shot and I feel better for it but in your position I would probably do as you are.

122 this cloudy morning. Not sure where that came from...I do have a bit of a sore ear...

61° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 55°/32°. Need to go out today to run errands as there is a small chance of rain in the forecast.

Yeah Wally, I've had some really bad reactions to several drugs and because of that am very leary of taking any new medicine. I'm good at isolating and very careful when I go out so I think I am OK for now.

Grammabear, gophers and other such critters are very much the enemy when you're growing vegetables. Burrowers are among the worst and won't be stopped by fencing unless you get the fence buried pretty deep - a major hassle. Even when we have just a few pots of tomatoes up on the deck, all manner of creatures seem to consider it an open bar. I do love especially home grown tomatoes and consider them worth the trouble to cultivate. Hoping for a good crop this year!

Tamagno - It seems that the gophers that live in our area have designated our garden as "high end dining".  Hubby got discouraged at replanting again and again, so he did exactly what you mentioned.  He took a spade shovel and made a trench along the entire length of the area where he plants green beans.  Then he inserted the chicken wire fencing down into the ground about 4-6 inches and then staked the fencing so it would not fall over.  The end result was a really nice crop of green beans.  The annoyance was that each time he picked green beans, he had to remove a side of fencing to get at the beans.  Totally worth it however as home grown green beans are far superior to store bought frozen beans.  Our tomatoes last year were better than other years.  We plant yellow pear tomatoes.  They are small like red cherry tomatoes but yellow and far less acid that other varieties.

84 this morning.  Happy first day of Spring.  May not feel like it in some areas but it does here.  We got up to 78° yesterday.  A bit cooler today and it is supposed to get windy but not so far.
Grammabear, I am surprised your husband was able to stop gophers with a fence only 4-6 inches deep.  Up on the mountain we put a fence about 18 inches deep and the stinkers still dug under and destroyed stuff.  With gophers and moles attacking from under and rabbits from the top it just became too much to have an outdoor garden but we got a green house and buried a wire mesh underneath and were able to get nice tomatoes. We are getting really nice produce from the local markets so it just doesn't seem worth the effort here in town.
SKB, locally we are seeing a drop in new cases and that is encouraging but we always worry about a resurge. Spring activity could cause problems and people that see a downturn, even though it is still too high, have, in a lot of cases. decided that it is no longer necessary to observe proper methods to avoid transmission.

105 this cloudy morning.

52° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 46°/30°, but it is already 50° so who knows where it will end up?

We are holding pretty steady here in MT. Yesterday there were 203 new cases, only 5 in my county. So that makes me feel pretty good. I too worry as the weather gets better, people are going to want to go out and about more and we may see a spike again.

121 today.

We are close to 40% of peak levels as far as new cases are concerned. More than 1/2 of them comes from my state. The city is contributing about 3000 cases every day. A friend who was with us in the recent forest trip is also hospitalized with Covid. I don't think we can afford another lockdown. With the immunization in rapid mode I think that we are close to the peak of the 2nd wave. If not, some drastic measures will be put in place and that will be bad for business.
