Grammabear, I can tell you with certainty that the one thing that grows here predictably and enthusiastically are rocks. Anyplace you dig, you get rocks and sometimes it turns out you've struck a whole ledge. Trench digging is not to be taken lightly up here.

I've been getting notices about post-vaccine recommendations from various hospitals all of which are basically saying we should maintain face masks, distancing and avoidance of groups even after the vaccine is completed (it takes about two weeks following the second injection to be safe). The only thing that's at all different is being able to visit with very small groups if everyone has been vaccinated. That "might" (according to sources) keep you from getting the more severe strain. Wow...

Tamagno - While we don't have a crop of "rocks" here in this part of IL, I am totally familiar with 'rock picking'.  In WI, where my husband was born and raised, it is common activity in the Spring time to 'pick rock' in the fields before planting crops.  Hubby's father would enlist the help of friends and neighbors and everyone would converge on a field to pick rock.  I do understand that concept all too well.

Wally - We have a limited success with fencing of any kind.  The fencing simply slows the gophers and rabbits down.  Our 'Benjamin' bb gun also helps slow them down to the point where the invading critters become compost.

skb - I hope you and your family remain safe from Covid.  The impact on business world wide is not good anywhere.  We have store fronts empty in our town where business once thrived.  It is so sad.

89 this morning.  A bit cooler and windy yesterday but warmer today and the wind had passed.  Heading back into the mid 70s for next week and even might touch low 80s next weekend.  I think Winter is definitely over here.
Yeah, up on the mountain we had to do a lot of "rock harvesting" also.  Not so much here in the desert.
Grammabear, we had only limited success with fencing also.  The critters show a great ability to find a way past any barrier to get to food.

51° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 46°/32° with a chance of rain. I'm hoping not much rain, the mud has really begun to dry out...

Thank you Grammabear. At home we are all safe. My mother and I have taken the first shot though it may / may not protect us from the virus. The Prime Minister of Pakistan is a perfect example. He became +ve after his first shot. And I personally know of a lady who was +ve after both shots taken 3 months ago. So, who knows. They can always blame a newer strain.

Grammabear, now that Medicare is my sole insurer, my Tandem distributor insisted on getting me a new pump which arrived yesterday. It looks just like my other one except the box has a seal on it announcing it's from Medicare. The packing slip also indicates that I don't own it but rather am somehow renting it from Medicare. Maybe all that just means it's been used and refurbished? I haven't started using it yet and will be curious to see if there's any difference. I suppose it must mean that Medicare also can access my Clarity data which doesn't thrill me, but I guess is expected. Sure wish I had enough personal wealth to pay all my medical bills myself though; I find it disturbing to have medical decisions made by nameless bureaucrats operating without accountability.

Tamagno - I think all of us on Medicare are "renting" the pumps and that they are all "refurbished".  Your new X2 pump should be the same as your other one.  I'm glad you like the CIQ part of this pump.  I like it as well because I don't have to worry so much about going low at night.  I don't know if Medicare has access to our information on Clarity.  I have the Dexcom G6 app and the Tconnect app on my phone.  Both give information to me about how the last 24 hours have been for me.  You might find either app or both apps helpful if you have a cell phone.

92 this morning.  Weather wise it looks like we will be right around 70° all week and warming up close to 80° on the weekend.
I'm looking around and I really need to clean up a lot of clutter and get rid of tons of junk I have been putting off for a very long time.  Not looking forward to it but I can't put it off much longer.

47° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 46°/28° again with possible rain showers. Only had a few drops yesterday, I'm fine if that is all we get today...

Ugh, Wally, I have a ton of stuff to get through too and am really dreading it. As it is I have a big pile of cardboard boxes from Amazon deliveries....

109 this morning.

Grammabear, my pump and CGM are connected to my iPad and "followed" by my iPod as well as my wife's iPod and Alexa, who conveniently I can simply ask for my latest reading. That gets synced to Clarity which I know my endocrinologist also has access to. Clarity then e-mails me a weekly summary. Amazing, but I doubt any of that is particularly secure and it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that Medicare has storage somewhere that collects all of our data.

I'm a great advocate of throwing out junk, but I wonder how much of that we do with our computers and other devices. Keeping those free of digital clutter works wonders just like household trash.

skb - The Koel songbird looks like a relative of our American blackbird.  We've seen blackbirds early this year.  I have no idea where they spend their winters, but they are here early this year.

I discovered a fan on my computer has quit, so now I have to try and find someone to replace it for me.  It is one of the heat sink fans for the cpu and I don't know if I can replace it or if I will have to take the tower into a repair shop if I can find said repair shop.

84 this morning. Cooler and windy today and we just got a sprinkle of rain.  Only about 0.1 inch but it got everything wet.
I agree Tamagno.  I am guilty of having way too much junk on my computer.  I have a ridiculous 10 TB of storage and have transferred hard drives from one computer to a new one when I build it.  There is so much duplicate and useless junk on these hard drives but I never seem to take the time to get rid of the unnecessary stuff.  Kind of like the junk in my work area.
Grammabear, replacing the fan is pretty easy and if it is the CPU fan it is very important.  Finding a repair shop may be a difficult task though.  There used to be several around here but I know of only one left.  Desktop computers are getting rare nowadays.

Wally - I'm really scared that I will not be able to find a repair shop.  My younger son built the computer, but he lives a bit more than 3 hours away from my home.  He is working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week right now, so has no time to come and fix the computer.  We're trying to keep a lid on how much we use the computer until we can get it fixed.
