Quote from: Grammabear on April 18, 2021, 09:34:29 AMThis is not diabetes related, but can anyone recommended a multi port charging brick for iphone SE?  My old one has decided to quit working and I need a multi port charger.

I'm a bit confused with the word "brick". Are you looking for a charging adapter or power bank (battery). There are scores of options on Amazon for either. Branded ones will work for long, others not so much.

Grammabear, I'd think you'd want to have a "charger" brick if only to be able to charge your pump while you're wearing it. Like Wally, I've had good luck with Anker chargers. I generally get the largest ones I can comfortably carry.

If you find yourself at Walmart or Target they have pretty good selections plus figure out if it's really a small charger you want or just a charging station in a wall socket that can have multiple devices plugged in charging at the same time.

Both of these are things that have become like reading glasses to me, vis, I have them secreted in various places in the house where I'm likely to use them.

skb - When I started looking for a charging device that I could plug in more than one device, it seemed that the words "brick" and "bank" were used interchangeably.  I didn't know how to state it so people would understand.  I am not tech savvy.

Tamagno - Until I read your post, I did not know there were devices available to charge the pump that you could carry with you.  I shall look around once again because such a device would be most helpful.

Speaking of reading glasses, I have always needed quite strong eyeglasses ever since I was a young child.  Last year after cataract surgery, I gradually found that I no longer needed the reading glasses, but I did need prescription glasses for distance.  This is the exact opposite of what I've had all my life.  The opthamalogist said he saw no evidence of diabetes damage for which I am most grateful.

80 this morning.  Bright and sunny today and heading to 90 but the wind is supposed to pick up later today and it will be windy tomorrow.
Grammabear, sometimes it is easier to just say what you want to use something for.  A charging "brick" is usually referring to a device you plug into a wall socket to charge something like a laptop or phone.  It is called a brick because the ones used to charge laptops are like a brick with a cord attached.  A battery bank is a device that has a battery that can be charged and then can be taken anywhere and used to charge your phone or other device, usually several times depending on it's size.  Here is one on Amazon :

Sorry for the long URL, you have to copy and paste it to get it to work.

It is interesting that your lens implants are set for close.  Mine are the opposite and set for distance so I have normal vision from about 6 feet to far off without glasses but I need glasses for close up and reading.

112 this partly cloudy morning. Woke up to about 4" of new snow!! That will probably kill all the lilac buds...

71° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 48°/23° with a few flurries or snow showers possible. Sheesh, wasn't expecting that!

The vaccination program is now partially privatized (some controls) to enable companies to make a quick buck and the people to be vaccinated quickly. To be opened for all 18+ from May 1.

Tamagno

174 this morning.

I saw both my endocrinologist and oncologist yesterday morning. Well, at least they're both done.

The endocrinologist says I'm still hypothyroid and so increased my synthroid. Also, my glucose numbers are the best they've been in ages. More interesting, however, is his report on Dexcom's G7 due out the first of next year. It is supposed to be more accurate, last 14 days per sensor, have fewer injector/site problems and be about the size of a nickel. Amazing.

Meanwhile, my blood work still has some things making my oncologist nervous including continued rise of liver numbers and more weight loss. She wants me to talk to a nutritionist (I warned her of the psychological damage those specialists undergo upon hearing my diet plan) but I figure if I can do it by phone I'll go ahead and do it.

Today promises to be a much more normal day for which I'm grateful.

88 this morning.

That is interesting news about the G7 and the size of it.  I wonder how the insertion process will be?

You are brave, Tamagno, to see two doctors in one day.  I'm glad you got some good news.  The nutritionist will likely want you to do high carb probably or maybe she/he will have decent ideas.

80 this morning.  Another 90s day and the wind is supposed to pick up later today.
Here now anyone over 16 years old is eligible for the vaccine but supply is still the big factor.  It is getting better and for me the more vaccinated the better.  The State has taken over control of appointments to have better data on how many have been vaccinated and who.  Naturally it makes it more complicated to get an appointment.

143 this sunny morning.

42° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 54°/25° still cold at night.

That is amazing re the Dexcom G7 Tamagno. Glad you got some goods news at the dr.

Still feeling queasy this morning. Did have a slight rise in temp, up to 99°, will keep an eye on that throughout the day. Slowly sipping on ginger tea hoping that will settle my stomach enough to be able to eat something. Probably will start with chicken broth. And of course last night was one of those no sleep nights...

So long as they undergo the damage, psychological or any 'cal'.

When I did my Nutrition (studies), my Chief Instructor was a Renal Nutritionist (whatever that is) but she was very accomodative of my LCHF views because of my Diabetes. However, for the exam papers, my answers had to be as per "texts". I must add that I passed with flying colors.

SKB, the extent of political involvement in the sciences is something the public does not know well as evidenced by the necessity of regurgitating "official" knowledge on your exams. While nothing new or even surprising to find out, nevertheless, a large number of the public imagines words said by people in lab coats to be true.

Actually, my phone visit with the nutritionist went surprisingly well with none of the usual demands to eat more fruit, grains and vegetables. In the end, besides recommending a triple-fat Icelandic yogurt (Siggy's I think) she was basically complementary of my diet accommodations. Now, that's surprising.

bigskygal - I hope you might be feeling better today.  The weather in your area does little to encourage feeling good, but weather can change soon.

Tamagno - Glad to hear your nutritionist visit via phone went well.  We have tried that yogurt she mentioned and my husband really likes it.  Yogurt as a whole seems to annoy my blood glucose, but that yogurt is really tasty.

The forecast here is for snow tonight and I hope the forecast is wrong.  Our grass is long and green so it needs to be mowed soon.
