134 this morning.

Grammabear, I used to notice changes when I was much more active but the last couple of years of relative sloth I don't notice so much plus now with the G6 doing so much of the work I'm not having to pay such close attention.

People make all manner of choices, some informed, some just completely uninformed and some eccentric or just plain weird. My sister and her family, for example, have decided to skip getting vaccinated and are planning to try and get hydrochloroquin in the event they contract the virus. This is the sort of response to the virus that causes me to remain vigilant in terms of protection.

Thanks Tamagno.  I think that on days when I am much more physically active, such as when we go grocery shopping, my glucose needs are less than when I'm at home doing 'not-so-much'.

It is already 70 deg F and headed to the upper 80s today.  I guess that is nice because before long it will be uncomfortable and humid which isn't so pleasant.

85 this morning.  We only had a high of 68° yesterday and it is supposed to be 70° today but tomorrow it begins to warm up and Friday is predicted to be 99°.  Humidity is not a problem here and with the high temps it is a good thing.
Since I retired I spend most of my time inside where the temp and humidity is pretty constant year around so the seasons don't probably have much effect on me.  Not when I was working outside and subject to large changes in cold and heat.  I wasn't checking my bg very often back then so I don't have a comparison.

Yesterday's high was 55°, today's forecast is 63°/with overnight of either 28° or 37° depending on which site I look at...quite a difference.

I'm not vaccinated yet, I am waiting to talk face to face with my pcp in July with my history of anaphylaxis and many bad reactions to drugs, I just want to be sure it is safe for me. Meanwhile I will remain a hermit and be well masked up when I do go to the store.

105 today.

Bigskygal, eventually the entire global population will have to be vaccinated. This is too good an opportunity to lose for the pharma biggies. And once the precedent is set, this will become an annual feature. That is what the conspiracy theorist part of my brain tells me.

Gosh, we're supposed to get up to 80 here as well which is pretty amazing.

SKB, the many odd choices of people with great power certainly lend themselves to belief in conspiracies and this current Plague is certain to join the ranks. Likely a good time to stock up on aluminum foil for making protective hats as well as materials necessary for constructing Farraday cages...

Yesterday we found that our lilac bushes are budding out and turning purple.  Surely Spring is on it's way now.  We also found several patches of wild violets at the edge of our lawn.  They are such small and beautiful flowers in my opinion.

I wonder if Big Pharma will capitalize on the fact that Covid virus is changing and they will have to make more than one vaccine for it?

90 this morning.  Now we start to warm up with a high of 86°today and then to the 90s after that and through the weekend.  Looks like we will be in the 80s next week which is good for here in May.
Yeah "Big Pharma" makes money producing drugs, that is why they do it, but I am glad that there is a vaccine for this and hope it gets to the majority soon.  There may very well be a need for an annual booster just like for the regular flu shot but I will get it if necessary.  OTOH these giant pharmaceutical companies deserve skepticism because many times the cost of drugs is way out of line and their underhanded ways of keeping the price high is outright evil, just like the price of insulin.

62° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 66°/36°.

I'm sure big pharma would love it if they could force everyone on the globe to be vaccinated, but I'm not sure that is a reality. I personally have not had the flu shot since the early 90's and haven't had the flu either. I have had 2 pneumonia vaccines so not an anti vaxxer here. I haven't had the shingles vax either. I am a very solitary person and really don't mind staying home and masking up when I go out. I just need reassurance from my pcp that the vax will be safe for me.

The difference in the Shingles vaccination is that you don't get Shingles from someone else.  If you ever had chicken pox it exist in your body.  If you never had chicken pox you won't have it inside you waiting like a ticking time bomb.  You can catch the chicken pox from some one who is infected or someone that has shingles but staying away from someone that is infected will take care of that.  Basically if you never had chicken pox you are fine but for anyone that did I highly recommend the Shingrex vaccine.  I had Shingles and I would not wish it on my worst enemy.

As a child I had a very, very mild case of chicken pox. As an adult 23-25 I had a worse case brought home by my kids from preschool, no fun to have a childhood disease as an adult! I'm wondering though if that early exposure gave me some sort of "immunity" to later repercussions? Who knows? I don't catch things...I seem to have some sort of natural immunity.... breast cancer hereditary aside.  I can only do what I feel safe for myself to do...if pcp says it is safe I will vax. Sorry to be a debbie downer but I can only do what I feel safe doing.

95 today morning.

On a brighter note, after the 2nd shot, I've noticed improved resistance to other small niggles. With every weather change (it's gotten extremely hot here) most people here, develop a sore throat, which may or may not lead to cough, congestion and mild fever. I got very mild signs of the seasonal change. I could say just about 5% of what it used to be. It could be the staying at home or using the masks, that is protecting us, but who knows.

113 today's reading for fasting.

Yes things are very much bad. I have lost 3 relatives in the past 10 days. One of them was close and 2 were distant. Pretty bad situation for india.

93 this morning.

Sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear the news of deaths in your family; please everybody stay safe!

This morning I'm trying out a new sort of keyboard with a radically different design with letters and numbers arranged in pentagonal shapes that has a number of advantages over the traditional QWERTY layout. It'll take a bit of practice to get used to, but so far seems promising.

Also having a different breakfast this morning of bread in a can. Sounds weird, but its been made in New England since the 1800s. I cut it into slices and sauteed a slice in butter as I usually do and its pretty good - very dense and by pan frying develops a nice crunchy texture. Interesting at least.

106 this morning.  It is warming up now and we are going to be in the 90s for a few days but not bad going into May.
Sweety, sorry for your loss.  It is surely bad in India, hope you can stay safe.
I remember as a kid we sometimes had bread in a can.  I don't remember what the brand was but it had raisins  in it and was quite good.  Not something I would try now because I would probably pig out on it !  ;D
