101 this very, very windy morning. High wind advisories and predicted power outages... just hoping I can get my posts in if I'm going to lose power (hoping I don't). Have I mentioned before that I hate the wind??? Yeah, I know I have...

42° was yesterday's high 1* short of forecast. Today's forecast is 45°/27. Could happen as the sky is pretty clear, the wind is blowing the clouds away.

Hope you get some help from your doctor John. And Wally hope you have a good check up from your doctor.

Barbara - How much wind - mph - do you have today?  I have a cousin living in NM and she said the wind there was 40 mph over this past weekend.  She is also not fond of too much wind.

Grammabear the winds are 25-35 mph with gust up to 50 mph. I really don't like the wind...

And to your question about lamb seasoning, I have a jar of spice from Penzeys called Lamb Seasoning. It contains oregano, rosemary, cumin, celery, paprika, black pepper, onion, garlic, spearmint and ginger. Any combination of these would be good. My favorite is to make lamb curry though.

That's a good question Wally. I would love to know what you find out.

The answer to the phone visit appointment, at least at my wife's hospital is that they get paid more for a "Skype"-type visit than a phone visit. The other difference so far, is that insurance also covers copays in both cases.

Started antibiotics yesterday pending urinalysis and also will have to have a chest x-ray as soon as it's scheduled. Guess I'll find out soon enough what's causing my current worries.

Grammabear, I agree with Bigskygal about the lamb seasoning - Penzy spices seem reliably good. Actually, we just had lamb patties last night on which my wife used "Montreal Steak Seasoning" that is a McCormick product available everywhere. It's basically just salt, pepper and a lot of garlic. I'd prefer Bigskygal's more exotic preference, but I think ground lamb does fine with just the same seasonings you'd use in hamburgers.

Thank you for the helpful hints on seasoning for lamb.  I have only a little imagination when it comes to seasoning meats, and am going to be happy to try something new.  This past Christmas my family exchanged 'food type' gifts either handmade or purchased by the individual giving said gift.  We had a lot of fun receiving what another person chose for us.

101 this morning.  We are going to warm up starting today in the low 70s and the same through next Monday then cooling down a bit and in the mid to low 60s after that.  Pretty   mild for January.
Well, the phone call from my doctor was short, about 5 min., and all of the tests, echocardiogram, ultrasound of arteries and chest X-ray, came out good.  My artificial heart valve is working fine and in March it will be 6 years and the scan of arteries looks good also.  About the same as if I had seen him in person so it worked out well.
It takes a while for Medicare to send me a report on the charges so it will be a while before I find out the charge but it will be interesting.

99 this morning.

Yesterday was exciting as I got my new Dexcom G6 system running. I was disappointed to find that I couldn't use my T-Slim pump as CGM, but it turns out that my pump software has to be updated and that requires taking a whole course on-line (a prescription class, no less - my endocrinologist had to send Dexcom a prescription in order to get the upgrade) which will take a couple of hours. Meanwhile, I set it up through the Dexcom receiver and finally got everything running. Once I've got the upgrade it'll be really interesting.

Caution: the insertion tool for the G6 sensors has the most aggressive spring I've yet encountered in such things.

The good bits about are no calibrations and no finger sticks. I'm only just beginning to realize how occupied with doing finger sticks I often have been but am finding it wonderful. Hope it's accurate.

No news regarding my other stuff, but at least I got my Medicare prescription supplement to cover my Marinol which I got yesterday. It's pharmaceutical THC and really takes the edge off pain and causes me to be hungry enough to keep eating.

109 this morning.

John - So happy to hear your G6 system came to your place.  It is a different system for sure.  I have found that the accuracy is much better than G5, except for the first 24 hours.  The "learning course" covers stuff that you probably already know, but Dexcom had to "cover their backsides" with the FDA and Medicare - so hence the learning course.

It is my understanding that you can use one other device besides the pump to show you the glucose readings.  I chose my phone as the 2nd device because Tandem has an app called T-connect which is quite helpful.  You might find the designated receiver more helpful, we are all different in what we like.

I hope your new prescription is helpful and will ease your pain level.

98 this morning.  Well, we got to 72° yesterday and it is supposed to be 74° today.  With overnight lows around 34° to 35° a 40° change is quite a bit but it is not unheard of here.
Tamagno, it sounds like the new CG6 system will be an improvement.  Hope it works great for you.
Our county website shows that the covid vaccinations are now available to seniors over 65 so I will have to check with the hospital to find out.  That is the official place in our town for the vaccination.  I will get it as soon as I can.

102 this cloudy morning.

39° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 40°/28°. It is only 30° right now and with the cloud cover, I doubt it will get much warmer.

Glad you got a med that will help with your pain Tamagno with added benefit of boosting your appetite.

Bigskygal - I went shopping on Penzy's website and got carried away I think.  Saw quite a few things there that sounded really good.

Tamagno - Another advantage of the G6 is that it usually goes 10 days rather than the 7 days the G5 offered.  I hope it works well for you.  Some people who have lean body fat have tried the back of their upper arm (you might have your wife help you if needed).  I know Dexcom does not 'encourage' it to be worn there, but it works for me and other folks.
