Sometimes technology needs a 'human' helping hand.  The problem with insulin infusion 'sites' is that with most people, different areas of the body absorb the insulin at a different rate or not at all.  People who have had insulin dependent diabetes for a long time often have scar tissue.  Since scar tissue can't be seen from outside the body, when a diabetic places a infusion set in such a place where there is scar tissue, the insulin absorbs poorly and at a very slow rate.

I believe this is what happened to me yesterday.  When I administered two correction doses two hours apart and my blood glucose still was spiking, I knew something was very wrong.  I then changed the infusion set to a different body location and also gave an insulin injection for correction.  Several hours later my glucose was 72 as was expected.  Most times for me at least, a blood glucose high is followed by a blood glucose low.  This is just one of the JOYS of type 1 diabetes.
