Adding good fats at this point is what will help with the hunger.  Real butter, olive oil, the fattiest cuts of meat you can pick, chicken with the skin on.  Don't be afraid of the fats in the meat and fish.  They will help you feel full.  Maybe the cooks can help you by giving you extra butter and olive oil?  If you can go to a store and buy your own oil  or ghee  (they don't have to be refrigerated) that can add to your fat content.  I know it goes against all we have been taught for years, but healthy saturated fat is not our enemy.

Good job rocky. Stay away from the those items and you should be posting good numbers soon. I can tell from first hand experience.

No they aren't...they contain lots of sugar.  I only eat a few berries or just one big strawberry and a few blueberries.  They run my BG up so I'm very careful with fruit.  Use your meter as you may be different.

Hmm, I thought so as well, but I was waiting for one of the wiser ones to comment. Use your meter to find out rocky.

That misconception comes from the fact that fruits contain fructose. Table sugar contains glucose & fructose in equal measure. While glucose can be metabolised in all cells of the body, fructose is metabolised only in the liver. But then, the liver is the storehouse for all the glycogen in the body. It doesn't matter, where it comes from.

Pat is right, use your meter to determine what is ok & what is not. Now that you have a meter, befriend it.

Rocky,

We now have a Download box at the bottom of your right panel. In that you can find a document "Carb Contents of Foods". This is the official USDA document. You can download it for use as and when you need. Just 5 dates (as per this doc) contain 31 gm of carbs. That's my daily quota. And in all probability, the ones you ate had more. So be careful, what you put in your mouth.

I have been basically flying by the seat of my pants lately. I really get back to following lc/hf

bigskygal

Kelly, it is hard in the beginning, lots of testing needed to find our own safe foods. But once we have compiled our own safe food list, things do get easier.  You can combine them in different meals and you are on your way to great control!

It's a desicion one has to take, Kelly. We,be seen that LCHF is not difficult to follow, even on the move.
