I'm quite certain of that, looking at how involved you are with the latest gadgetry.

Yes I suppose Vietnamese rain can be equated to Mumbai's and some more areas.

No fasting this morning, and no before bed reading. My furnace died last evening around 9PM and my fireplace died a year or more ago. By 9:30PM it was 0° outside and with no heat of course my pipes froze! I only have one small electric space heater which I have been moving from room. I am also burning 2 burners on my gas stove in the kitchen, but am  keeping a close eye on them.

Today being a holiday, not sure I'll be able to get the pump repair man out today. I'm hoping with the furnace it was just my negligence in not replacing the filters on schedule and I can get my neighbor to come replace them. I have the new ones already. No water and feeling like $hit is why no readings today.

The high yesterday was 29°, today's forecast is 31°/11° and fair. Right now it is 2° outside. Hope this cold snap goes away soon!!!

ETA: Just checked current outside temp and it is -2° at 7:36AM brrr. No sense trying to get the pipes fixed until I have heat again...

95 this morning.  We got to 62° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 60° today.  Nothing close to what you are going through Barbara.  At our house on the mountain we had a gas furnace but we also had two wood stoves and used them most of the time.  They did a real good job of heating up the whole house.  We bricked up the fireplace as most of the heat just went up the chimney, the wood stoves were much more efficient.  Hope you get the furnace working soon, they always go out when it is the coldest!

That's true of almost everything. Won't work when you need them the most.
Barbara, I hope your electric heater is doing a good job. Do keep warm.

My neighbor was out all day today, hope I can catch him tomorrow to try the new filters. The little electric is OK but it only heats a small area. I piled on the quilts to sleep and that worked, but boy was it cold in here this morning!!

Strangest thing was with the little heat I am able to generate, my pipes seemed to open this afternoon. What a racket sounded like a herd of deer running across the deck. The noise was so annoying after a couple of hours, even though all faucets were running that I shut them off for a couple of hours. Around dinner time opened them and the noise was gone, but most of the water was too. :(  It is just dribbling now periodically and I expect they will freeze again overnight. I have a salt lamp under sinks of 2 bathrooms and the heater will go into the bedroom with me when I go to bed, aimed at the pipes.

I really hope all it takes is replacing the filters to get the furnace going again...
then I can address the pipes... I haven't frozen like this in several years...

81 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 60° and our low this morning was 30°, first freezing temp we have had so far.  It is supposed to be just a bit warmer today but only a couple of degrees.
Thankfully we don't have any problem dealing with freezing temps here.  We spent money on upping the insulation, double pane windows and a new whole house heating system but even though we do get to freezing at times, even below zero but rarely, it doesn't get as cold and for the length of time Barbara has to deal with.
Hope you can at least get your furnace working Barbara.  It would have to pick a holiday weekend to quit!

No fasting this morning. Feel ike I have been to he11 and back and still trying to recover.

Furnace still not working, in fact it went crazy early this morning and made all sorts of weird noises even while the thermometer was turned off! I actually had a good sleep until the noises started.

28° was the high yesterday, when I went to bed it was about 10°. Today's forecast is 32°/16°. It was only 30° in the house this morning. I sort of lost it... I called my neighbor as he knows lots of contractors and said I really needed heat, He brought me 2 space heaters which will help keep me warm. I am still chilled to the bone, hopefully that will wear off soon. I called the Heating repair man and my pump repair man waiting for their return calls. This is their busy time of year so not sure how long it will take.

My neighbor's wife is going to pick me up a bag of cat kibble and a couple gallons of drinking water to tide me over. Hopefully I can get back to normal soon! I'm getting too old for this!!

Wally, I do have double paned windows and until the heater went out it did a great job keeping me warm. May be another week of this cold. :(

A week is a very long time if you feeling that cold. Maybe you could move into a motel or something till you have your heating back in place.

A week more of this cold snap. Hopefully the repair people will be here before then.

My neighbor's wife brought me 3 gallons of drinking water and a big bag of dry cat food. She wouldn't let me pay her. I think a bit of guilt because their DD's cat is the mom and grand mom of my 14 kitties. I'm paying $97+/month to feed them from Chewy. I kind of causally mentioned that to her hubby this morning...maybe once in a while they'll help me out.

Wish I could find some people that want barn cats...these kitties are great mousers!!

82 this cloudy morning. Slept pretty well last night. Have to admit I haven't seen a fasting like this in quite a while.

20° was the high yesterday, when I went to bed last night outside temp was around 5°. Today's forecast is 32°/14° with a small chance of snow flurries. I seem to be getting colder overnight temps than the forecast, not thrilled with that.

With 3 heaters running now, the inside temp was 60° when I got up which is better than the 30° it was yesterday morning. I have 4 faucets open and each has a small stream of water which is a good thing

I haven't heard yet from my repair people and kind of doubt I will on a Sunday, hoping for Monday. Can't wait for the furnace to be fixed and the house warm again!!

101 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 59° but much warmer this morning with an overnight low of 42°.  The predicted high is 63° and that is probably close.
Yeah Barbara, with it that cold outside and your furnace out it is going to be hard to keep it warm inside.  Hope you can get the repair men there soon.
Shortly after I posted yesterday my internet was down for the rest of the day.  It was planed work, they were replacing poles, a lot of poles, so the internet was out for several square blocks.  They had generators on trucks to provide power, it's power poles that are being replaced but they also have the telephone and cable lined on them.  What I don't understand is why, since it is planned work, they can't let the people affected know ahead of time that there will be an outage.

Why not go underground and get rid of the poles altogether ?

That would be nice but my guess is that they are not willing to spend the money to do that in this area.  In many areas that are newer everything is underground but this neighborhood is about 50 years old.

105 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 63° and the overnight low was 36° so above freezing!  Only one doctors appointment this week!  Seems like that is all I do now days.  I have been seeing a Urologist regarding an elevated PSA level for about a year and so far it seems to be OK but worth keeping an eye on.  Just one more thing added to my list of things affecting my health.
I got some disturbing news about my brother.  He is dealing with a brain disorder that is pretty serious.  It is called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare brain disorder that causes problems with movement, walking and balance, and eye movement. It results from damage to nerve cells in the brain that control thinking and body movement. The disorder's long name indicates that the disease worsens (progressive) and causes weakness (palsy) by damaging certain parts of the brain above nerve cell clusters called nuclei (supranuclear) that control eye movements.

PSP is different than Parkinson's disease—another movement disorder—although they share some symptoms (see section, "How is PSP different from Parkinson's Disease?"). Currently there is no effective treatment for PSP, but some symptoms can be managed with medication or other interventions.

Right now he is able to do pretty well but it is probably going to get worse as time goes by so I am hoping that he is going to be able to manage for several years but it may not be that long.  The fact that something is rare doesn't help if you are someone that is affected with it.

94 this cloudy morning.

22° was the high yesterday. I couldn't read my outside thermometer too well at bedtime last night, but it looked like maybe 10° or 15°! It is a balmy 20° outside right now. Inside is 58° I've just rotated heaters to heat more in the living room where I spend most of the time during the day. Today's forecast is 29°/14° no snow...

Haven't heard from repair guys, but it is early. If I don't by mid day, I'll call them again. I've settled into a routine, but I am really tired of being so cold.

ETA: Sorry to hear about your brother Wally.  I hope he is able to find a way to control it as much as possible. Is he older or younger than you? Just curious...

Another  ETA: Yay! The heating guy is coming between 11AM and 1PM today!!! Oh blessed heat!! Just hope he's not going to say I need a new furnace.... My neighbor apparently prodded him to get back to me. He's a good neighbor!

Once my heat is up and running, I 'll deal with the water guy.
