Wally,

Very sorry to hear about your brother's illness. I had communicated with him via email when you went missing for a few days. I hope and wish that you will find some answers somewhere, maybe in alternate medicine.

88 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 62° and our overnight low was 34° so just above freezing again.  It is pretty consistent right now with no stormy weather in the horizon for a few days at least.
Glad you got the heat back on Barbara.  That was really bad timing for the furnace to quit but it seems that is the nature of things like that.
Yeah SKB I hope he is going to maintain a decent quality of life for some time.  He is 7 years younger than I am so it is upsetting to me.
A funny story about when you contacted my brother when I was in the hospital and MIA.  I had forgot that when we moved we had to change the number of the landline that my BIL uses for his business and ai had not given him my BIL's cell # so he didn't have any way to call so he called the local police.  They sent a patrol car by and my BIL is working during the day so they got back to my brother and said " well, the dog looks like it's OK and healthy" and that was their check.  I guess I could have been lying on the floor inside and no one would know but at least the dog was OK!

90 this partly cloudy morning.

A surprising 33° was the high yesterday. It seems this cold snap is passing. This morning when I got up it was a nice 22°, today's forecast is 33°/14°. "They" say this is going to be a very cold Winter, coldest in a long time. sigh...

Water still just trickling out of faucets. Guess I need to call the pump guy. I have a sink full of dirty dishes and a laundry basket of dirty clothes...I need running water.

Wow Wally that's a funny story, except it really isn't!! As you said you could have been inside lying on the floor...

Pump repair man comes tomorrow morning!! Hopefully by afternoon all will be back to normal here! But Yikes! I haven't shopped for Thanksgiving yet! Too much going on and I have been exhausted/freezing...

After pump guy leaves will make quick grocery run. Hopefully I can find a turkey thigh, need some bacon, will splurge and get a small russet potato and bake in my air fryer have a salad on the side. I have butter and SC already. It is only me, so nothing that fancy...

101 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 63° and it is supposed to get to 66° today and that will be the warmest day this week.  Overnight low not bad at 41°.
Yeah I thought it was kind of a funny story but then it could have been not so funny if there was really a problem.  Not long after I was back from the hospital I was still pretty weak but I was able to manage getting around the house using my walker.  I was in the kitchen and at the sink getting a drink and I started to lose my balance and I began to fall.  I tried to grab the sink but I didn't have the strength to hold myself up and slid to the floor.  I didn't hurt myself but try as I could I was not able to get back up.  I had to wait there sitting on the floor for about 2 hours until my BIL came home and was able to help me get up.   I made myself a promise to make sure to have my phone on me always!  I have a bad habit of going into other parts of the house and leaving my phone on my desk and it will not help when I need it if it is in another room.

103 this partly cloudy morning.

31° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 33°/18° with a good chance of snow this evening and overnight.

Pump guy said he'd be here around 10AM. Don't know how long it will take him to get the water going again. Yesterday I decided I'd go out to the store when he finished, but right now, I don't want to go anywhere this afternoon. I'm going to have to give myself a good kick in the * and make myself go out!!

Wally, I always have my phone on me for 2 reasons. The first is it is my step counter and the second is if I fall and can't get up I can call 911 with it. So far in all my falls I have been able to get up again, but who knows in the future?

ETA: I must have done something pretty bad to get the Universe this mad at me. The pump guy has come and gone and for a brief 1/2 hour I had water, then I heard a noise under the kitchen sink and found a leaking hose!! Water spraying everywhere! so off goes that sink... called my plumber hopefully they can get out today but I have no true hopes they can/will.  Almost made it back to normal...almost. :(

Not going anywhere until Friday at least, I think I am jinxed and not going to risk it!!

Wally that is frightening. If you're wearing your Apple Watch, you can call from that even if the phone is away, so long as you're on the same WiFi network.

Well the one golden ray in this whole mess is in my 1/2 frozen brain, I thought tomorrow was Thanksgiving. As I walked past my wall calendar I noticed it is next Thursday. A lot of stress melted away, I have time to grocery shop and get to the PO for bills. Hopefully the plumber will be out tomorrow or Friday  morning. (They are only open in the morning on Friday.) I can shop either Friday afternoon or Saturday. I have been such a mess lately. I feel like things are back 80%. I still have 3 sinks I can wash dishes in and I think the pipes have cleared enough that I may be able to do a laundry too this weekend.

I keep wondering what the other shoe to drop will be.... NOTHING I hope!!

105 this morning.  Our high yesterday ended up at 67° so pretty nice.  It will be just a bit cooler today but only a couple of degrees.  We have been lucky that there has not been any high winds but to the West it has been very windy and on the coastal side of the mountains they have been dealing with very high winds with gusts as high as 70 MPH and as usually happens several trucks blown over on the highways.
SKB, you are right and I do have the Apple watch on.  I have received calls on it but never even thought of making a call with it and just looked at the phone app on it and it would be easy.  Thanks for pointing that out.
Glad that you are getting things worked out Barbara.

108 this mostly clear morning.

28° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 24°/6°, no snow today.

Hoping to hear from the plumber sooner than later. I so want to get back 100% to normal!!

I think we both have the 7 model. Depending on how you have set it, it could ring or vibrate with an incoming call, and you could answer it with your watch as well. I have done that many times.

That apart, The Apple Watch has a feature to call Emergency services (on its own) in any health related emergency, especially if you have fallen down. It does have a Fall Detection feature as well. This should help you.
