Aspirin is an anti-coagulant and not a blood thinner. The other one though, might be an actual blood thinner. Stopping it for a day or two is that risky, I have my doubts, but then the doctor is the doctor.

82 this morning.  Another reason to love tacos!  Our weather here is pretty stable right now and sunny without wind.  There is a small chance of rain here Monday but other areas in California are going to see more rain and snow.  It is a cold front coming out of Canada so the snow level will be lower.  The Midwest is going to see quite low temps and that includes Barbara.
Yeah SKB, I know that aspirin is an anti-coagulant but because of that I have always been told to stop using it before any procedure where you are going to be cut because it makes it more difficult to stop bleeding.  The Eliquis is a blood thinner and is to prevent blood clots coming from the heart to the brain. I don't know how dangerous it is to stop taking it for 2-3 days buy I think my doctor had a good point that it isn't worth risking a stroke.  The FNA procedure is not that conducive to bleeding and I had no problem at all but they still advised me before the procedure to stop the Eliquis.  My point is that I think it is not a good idea to tell people to stop a medication without first checking with the prescriber to make sure it is safe to do and no one has done that before.  As far as stopping the Eliquis you may have your doubts but I am the one that had the stroke and I don't want to risk that again.

108 this snow showery morning.

41° was the high yesterday. Depending on which site I look at, today's forecast is either 32°/3° or 19°/-4°. I'll take the first one please.

Power went out for a couple of hours late last night. Freaked me out because I imagined frozen pipes all over again... Fortunately it was back on in a couple of hours with no harm done. Tonight I will do full on prevent frozen pipe protocol. Leave water running in a couple sinks (pencil thick flow), open all under cabinet doors so heat gets to pipes and turn up the heater a bit more.

Fortunately it looks to be clearing Sunday for most of the following week. My driver won't drive in ice or deep snow so that makes me feel good about getting to dr appointment on Tuesday.

Yes of course and you are absolutely right in your assessment and action. I was just making a scientific point and not giving advice.

Oh I understand SKB and I didn't take it that way.  My main point was that I think that it would be more responsible for those that tell patients to stop a medication without having them checking with the prescriber first is poor practice.  Most, or at least many, people will just do as told and not know if it is a good idea.  This has happened to me many times and I didn't think much about it as it was only the 81mg aspirin I take but it is because of my heart valve replacement and I never had a problem but I also didn't know if it could be a problem.

104 this morning.  It is going to be sunny and dry today but windy as a front is coming through.  There is a small chance of rain tomorrow but I doubt that we will see anything.
They are talking about really cold temps, -30° with wind chill -50° in some areas.  Barbara, I don't know about where you are but it looks like you may be in that situation.  Hope you can stay warm!

Snap Wally! 104 here too this really cold morning.

21° was the high yesterday. When I went to bed last night, about 11:45PM it was just at 0°. This morning when I got up it was -10°! It is still hovering at that point 2 hours later. I had 4 faucets running all night (still have 2 running) and the heat up to 80°. All OK so far this morning. But at these temps could freeze even during the day...

Today's forecast is 10°/ and either -11 or -6 overnight. I5t appears according to forecast that it will be warming some over the next week. Hope so!!

Only have seen one kitty out, I wish they would stay in whatever warm place they spent the night for a while longer...

108 this frigid morning.

Yesterday's high was 8°, it was -9° when I went to bed last night, -15° when I got up at 7AM. It is still -14°! Nothing froze though, protocol worked again last night. Today's forecast is 15°/6° will believe it when I see it!!

I will be so good when this cold passes! Along with brace being gone tomorrow will make my week!! Keeping fingers crossed!

101 this morning.  We are not going to get any rain here but all around us there is rain and snow.  Snow in the mountains with the snow level down to 2500 feet.  That is lower than it has been for quite a while.  This is a storm coming from the North so it is colder than those we were getting.
I decided to do a little bit of trying to educate myself regarding my "rant" about how I felt that when doctors are doing any procedure that involves cutting thay always tell you to stop taking a med that can cause bleeding problems and don't advise you to check with your prescriber first.  I still think that is a problem but I went to the web page for Eliquis and it has the following paragraph:

Apixaban, sold under the brand name Eliquis, is an anticoagulant medication used to treat and prevent blood clots and
to prevent stroke in people with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation through directly inhibiting factor Xa

Do not stop taking ELIQUIS without talking to the doctor who prescribed it to you
For patients taking ELIQUIS for atrial fibrillation: stopping ELIQUIS increases your risk of having a stroke.

So the information is right there and we should do our own research also.  I am also not too happy that I was given no advice from the Cardiologist that prescribed it but the information is there and it is really important to look for it.

Well, frack!! Tripped over the leg of my elliptical (clothes hanger) about 4 hours ago and fell and hit my head and cut it open. Dang! Is there no hope for me??? Paramedics said I don't need stitches and no trip to hospital, thank goodness. Tailbone hurts but I see neurosurgeon tomorrow and will have x-rays so I guess if anything wrong there it will show up.

Better not slow down removal of brace!!

Do be careful Barbara. I suppose the best thing to do is to consciously slow down your movements even though it may seem ridiculous. Hope all will be OK on the X-ray.

Thing is I was just backing up to reach my jacket hanging with the clothes I will wear tomorrow to put something into the pocket for tomorrow. Barely moving at all...just a dumb trip and fall. I couldn't have possibly been moving any slower!! Feeling the aches and pains but head has finally stopped oozing.

90 this morning.  We got rain in a lot of Southern California and snow in the mountains but nothing here.  Bright and sunny today but on the cool side.
Geeze Barbara!  We need to put you in a protective bubble so when you fall you just bounce a bit.  Hope you are OK and that you do get the brace off.
Off in a bit to the dentist for a filling, not a big thing but I don't really like going to the dentist.

109 this lightly snowing morning.

8° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is snow showers in the morning with high of 29°/ either 1° or 20° for the low. I'll take the 20° but kind of doubt it will happen...

Feeling sore today but Advil helps, will pick up more at the pharmacy at hospital today. PO run and light shopping on the way home.

Praying for no more brace!!
