45° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is either 45°/15° or 36°/4° depending on which site I look at. Given it is already 32° I think the 2nd is closer to true. Tomorrow we have 2 nights in a row in the minus degree weather than coming back up. Ugh! Hope this is the last of the bitter cold weather.

Hope you get some useful information at the Spine Specialist Wally. That you are now able to get steps in each day sound like an improvement to me.

Yes I sure do. Almost everyone does, but the problem is that the Air-conditioning actually adds to the problem by letting out more heat.

95 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 69° and today it will drop about 20° with a lot of wind.  The wind started yesterday afternoon and roared all night, today it will continue all day.  We are pretty used to it here but some areas in Southern California are getting damaging winds and trees being blown over.  There is a lot of hype about this storm and it is being described as the strongest storm to come for the last 20 years, maybe but often these predictions don't turn out but then predicting weather isn't an exact science so it is best to be prepared.  Here it looks like Friday and Saturday will be the biggest chance of rain and even maybe some snow so I hope it turns out. 
My appointment with the spine specialist was about what I expected.  There is not really anything he can do right now other than keep in touch to see if I am doing better or worse.  I don't need any pain medication and I am doing better and the walking is helping.  I may be helped by doing some of the PT exercises for my back as that is where I am having a problem.

108 this mostly cloudy morning. 5° when I got up this morning. Last night was windy but so far not bad this morning.

Yesterday's high was 40°, today's forecast is 10°/-3° with some wind but no snow or rain...I'd rather snow...sigh.

Sorry you didn't get any better news Wally, but you do seem to be improving with the walking, maybe PT will help too. Sending good thoughts your way.

89 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 46° with a lot of wind and it is supposed to be the same today.  Tonight we will start to see the start of the storm and we may get snow overnight but rain all day tomorrow and Saturday.  Some areas started to get a lot of rain and snow yesterday to continue through the weekend.  Lots of snow in the mountains with a possible 7 feet of snow in some areas.  They are still touting this as the biggest storm for several years so we will just have to see.  There has been hype for other storms in the past that kind of fizzled out but this one may live up to the hype.  We will know in a couple of days.
I don't know SKB, the Yoga exercises that I have seen I can't do because I can't come close to getting into the positions used but then I haven't seen a lot so maybe there could be something there.

98 this cold morning.

10° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 10°/-4° though my neighbor said forecast was for -10° overnight. Gradually warming after tomorrow.

Terrible morning!! Survived the night with no frozen pipes thank goodness!! But as I was getting my vitamins together I noticed the kitchen window was partially cracked open and frigid air was coming in! I couldn't budge the window to open and slam it shut. Stupidly I got a screwdriver and managed to open the window to about 3" hoping to be able to slam it shut. It would not budge!! Put portable heater aimed at window and called my neighbor to help. I finally managed to get it mostly closed but there still was a crack (at the time it was -2° outside). Neighbor finally came over and was able to get the window shut and he locked it, it is completely closed now. I am so lucky to have such good neighbors!!

Looks like one more bad night to get through. Don't know how much more of this I can take. I Pray to God Wally's storm does not make it here!!!

After all back to "normal" I sat down and cried out of frustration. I hate that I can't do the things I used to be able to, and am kind of afraid I never will again...

I have been reading about this storm in the news. Hope that it fizzles out soon and that you guys are safe and warm.

103 this morning.  Well, the storm is definitely not going to fizzle out.  It is moving slow and has not had the biggest impact yet as the biggest part is still out over the ocean but there has already been a lot of snow in many areas with typical interstate highways shut down.  Because it is moving slow it will drop larger amounts of rain and snow so there has been blizzard warnings in areas that have not had them for several years.  Kern county where I am got the first blizzard warning ever!  Here we started to get a light rain early that turned to snow but it was a very light dusting.  The roofs were all white but it was not sticking to the pavement.  I think the rain gauge on my weather station is still frozen as it hasn't recorded anything yet but it should start working soon. 
I'm sorry you have had such a hard time Barbara.  I am afraid that you will have more hard weather from this storm as it leaves here and heads your way.  I hope it isn't too bad.

11° was the high yesterday, today's forecast varies per site, looks like most likely it will be about 27°/12°.

Yesterday was a bad day, but today is much better and 10 day looks pretty good too.

Are you sure your storm is tracking my way Wally? My 10 day shows daytimes in the 30's and high 20's, overnights in mid 20's to high teens with just chances of light snow. Compared to what we have had here those are not scary numbers at all!! I can't find any tracking for the storm other than CA can you find anything there that shows it coming to western MT? I live in that little "thumb" that sticks out on the western coast. Thanks!

No, I am not sure at all that our storm is going to have any effect on you Barbara. I just know most of the time any storm system we have always moves East but it may not cause you any problem.  I think it is going to have a big effect on some of the states farther South of Montana and then head farther North.  I would be more inclined to trust your local weather prediction.

106 this morning.  Well, we got a slight dusting of snow yesterday morning then light rain during the day and ended up with only 0.2 inches then it started up at midnight and right now we are looking at 3/4 of an inch which is pretty good for here.  Now the weather service gives everything a name.  It used to be hurricanes but now it is everything, rain storms, snow storms, heat waves etc,etc.  This storm is Piper so I guess we can remember the great "Piper" storm of 2023.  Well, some areas of Southern California have seen a lot of rain and snow with several inches of rain and several feet of snow so it was not over hyped for many. 
Barbara, it is moving East but it looks like it will stay South of MT and have the biggest effect on the mid west and the North East states.  That looks like a good thing.

101 this cold sunny morning. Was 5° when I got up, now it is 16°. Nice!

Yesterday's high was 20°, so lower than the prediction I chose. Today's forecast again is really different on the 4 sites I looked at. I'm going to go with 43°/22°. though the 43° might be a bit high. But no rain or snow. Tomorrow may see less than an inch of snow.

Yesterday I woke up to a bloody nose, today OK so far. I have pans of water on two heater vents to help with the humidity.

Sorry for the people south of me that may see your storm Wally, but we have had a bitter cold Winter and just don't need anything else at this point. Hope you stay dry and warm and just a dusting of snow to deal with!!

111 tis partly cloudy n morning.

42° was the high yesterday. When I went to bed last night just after 9PM, it was 22°. Today's forecast looks like 42°/19° with occasional snow flurries. So far weather is quite bearable. Hope I didn't just jinx myself!!

Tomorrow my new grabber is coming, it has the magnetic tip, not sure how I am going to like that. Old one is periodically not closing so I ordered just in time!

I have been getting all sorts of spam re Amazon, that my Prime account is expired (wrong!), that there is something wrong with check I used (wrong used debit card). I usually just ignore these but the frequency is beginning to bother me...
