110 this morning.  It was a funny day yesterday.  We were mostly cloudy but we did get a very light rain in the afternoon and even snow for a bit but it didn't stick at all.  It is out of here now heading East and I don't think there is anything for the near future. Some pictures of the snow near Lake Tahoe in the Sierras :

and on the highway to the house I used to live in:

The snow along the highway to the house where I used to live is pretty normal, other areas like Lake Tahoe not so normal.

101 this cloudy morning.

38° was the high yesterday, had some wind in the evening but it wasn't too bad. Today's forecast looks like 41°/25° with possible snow flurries also some wind which I don't like at all.

Wow, amazing photos Wally! My son has a place in Kirkwood, his oldest DD lives there for the Winter (the ski instructor) I hope she is OK. That is a lot of shoveling! Fortunately their place is in a complex and I'm pretty sure they have hired contractors for snow removal.

I used to live in Arnold (south of Bear Valley on Hywy 4), I imagine it is bad there too...

That house will take some time getting back to 'normal'. I hope there are other exits from the house.

105 this morning.  My numbers seem to be running higher than they used to.  Not just my fasting but after meal numbers are higher with the foods I used to have less of a rise from.  I am not sure what is the reason but I have been keeping track of what I eat for years so I know what to expect and it seems to have changed. I am going to keep a closer track although I do keep a record of what I am eating but not the macros like I used to.
Those pictures were from the Lake Tahoe area and they are pretty used to big snows.  Where the biggest problem is sits in the San Gabriel mountain range that parallels the coast and is seen from Los Angeles.  They are used to some snow in the mountain communities but not the huge amount they got.  Snow levels over 8-10 feet have caused havoc as they didn't have the equipment to deal with is and roads have been unpassable.  No one has been able to go in or out for several days including safety equipment.  There have been several roofs caved in including the only market in one town.  The governor has called a state of emergency for the areas.  Snow is welcome but this much can cause very real problems for the regions that are not prepared for this much.

97. this mostly cloudy morning. 29° when I got up just after 7AM. Light dusting of snow from overnight.

Yesterday's high was 43°, today's forecast is 34°/17° or 24° depending on which site...my vote is for the 24°! Small chance of a few snow flurries AM and then again in the evening.

Hopefully with all the snow you got there Wally your drought situation will be lessened.

Interesting phone call with Chewy on Wednesday. I was having problems with my password. I couldn't get it to open page and for some reason couldn't change it! Long talk with first person, she said I shouldn't use Safari, lots of quirks w/it. (The only time I use it is when I open an email on laptop. For some reason it defaults to Safari.) I normally use Chrome for everything else. Well, she couldn't fix it so passed me on to a tech. Finally got my new password accepted and shut down Safari totally. The tech apologized for my problems, probably user error, but oh well and gifted e with a 30# bag of kitty kibble and a case of 34 cans of wet food!! Wow! Impressed!

Then I looked at my order that was due to ship and noticed my items were "out of stock"!! The tech said that Auto ship orders are always filled, the out of stock is just for online orderers.... I love this company!

Now my problem is to get Chrome to be the default for my email on laptop...

97 this morning.  We got to 62° yesterday and it is supposed to be 61° today then we will be in the mid to high 50s for the next week.  No rain in sight here for the next week.
In the mountains people are still digging out and it is going to be a while before things are back to normal for them.  Yosemite National Park is closed indefinitely with 15 feet of snow recorded.  Affected counties are now admitting that they were not prepared for this amount of snow but I think it took most by surprise although the weather services warned all that this was going to be a big one and they probably should have paid attention.  I think that goes for the residents also that were not ready for anything more than a two day or so period of being stuck inside and ran out of food and all other supplies.

109 this partly cloudy morning. 18° when I got up this morning...(still not sure how I feel about getting up at 7AM!).

38° was the high yesterday just a tiny snow flurry that barely stuck in the afternoon. Today's forecast is 35°/22° no snow or rain.

I was just thinking yesterday afternoon that since my fall and wearing the brace, my knees haven't been bothering me. Jinx! in the evening left knee started to ache but by bedtime it was gone and so far today nothing...strange.

I feel for the people that didn't really plan to be isolated for so long, but on the other hand, one has to plan for the worst.Especially after these people were warned a very bad storm was coming... I always have tap water and drinking water in my pantry plus enough food to last a week or more also in my pantry. May just be canned goods, but they work!

That happens. I think it's something preemptive.

Whatever it is, knee is fine today... I'll take that!

104 this morning.  We got to 62° yesterday but windy and it is going to be a bit cooler today with a high of 55° and still windy.  It is going to warm up next week though and we will be in the mid to high 60s so pretty nice.  No rain here and no snow in the areas where people are still digging out so that will be a relief.  This year so far California has received 200% of its normal snow fall.  This is good news for the drought but it doesn't solve the problem of years of drought conditions depleting the underground aquifer.  One of our main sources, the Colorado River and the reservoirs on it is still way below normal so that is remaining a problem. Water conservation has to remain a priority for the entire State.
Yeah Barbara, anytime something doesn't hurt I take that as a win!   ~hlu~

114 this cloudy morning. 29° when I got up.

Yesterday's high was 40°, today's forecast is much cooler (darn!), 32°/19° with a few chances of snow flurries. Hoping your wind misses me here Wally!!

Wasn't thinking about the aquifer...hopefully what you got will help and the next few Winters will bring a more "normal" whatever that is, amount of rain/snow to rebuild all the natural water stores.

For the entire world, Wally. You must have read or heard that the future wars will be fought over water. Depletion of ground water is a global problem and the mushrooming human population is the main reason behind it.

112 this morning.  I am really kind of surprised at that but oh well.  It was really windy earlier but not now.  It is supposed to get up to around 56° today and even warmer for the rest of the week.  I like warmer!
Yes I am aware that water is a problem for the entire world.  Some areas have an ample amount right now but that can change and probably will.  Here in the USA some parts are in a drought situation and others have an ample amount.  It is not going to be static though.  Even the "mighty" Mississippi River is suffering with a dwindling supply.
