109 this cloudy morning. 20° when I got up this morning with a very light dusting of snow..

37° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 31°/18° with small chance of light snow this afternoon.

All this talk of water and the aquifer are kind of scary for me. (Hope I don't jinx myself by saying this!) I am on a personal well for water, although water is not a problem so far here in MT, if it becomes one, I could be in real trouble...

Is the well water directly potable or do you use some kind of a filter.

Today is the public holiday for Holi or what is known as the festival of colours.

The water is directly potable, it was tested and is OK, but I run it through a Britta filter any way. Just a habit I have had for years and years.

103 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 58° and it is supposed to be 60° today and tomorrow then warming up and it is supposed to be in the 70s on the weekend!  There is a small chance of rain Thursday but it is also supposed to be windy so right here we won't get any rain but it could rain around us. 
They have finally opened up the roads in the San Gabriel mountains that have kept people stranded in their homes.  Now they have to dig out from the 10-11 feet of snow around their homes.  They are expecting up to two feet of snow in the Sierras in the next couple of days.
Barbara, I doubt very much that you have anything to worry about and your well should be just fine.  When we had the house in the mountains we had our own well also and it was always in good shape.  The biggest problem with the aquafer in California is that farmers have been drawing from it for years and it doesn't replenish as fast as it has been drawn down.  Central California is a huge farming region and supplies the country with a very large part of its food.  The water from the reservoirs and snow melt is not enough to supply the farms with what they need so they pump a lot from the underground aquafers and they are not in good shape.  One of the largest farm operations that grows lettuce has given up and moved the whole operation to Mexico.

115 this partly cloudy morning. 18° when I got up.

Yesterday's high was 39°, today's forecast is about the same 38°/16° but with no snow.

I wasn't really that worried about my water, we seem to be doing well with rain and snow here. But now I am a bit worried about buying lettuce!! Mexican water, um, not the cleanest, Montezuma's revenge and all... I hope they are filtering/cleaning it somehow...

Unfortunately it could be a problem.  Right now a lot of our produce comes from Mexico and I am not worried about the quality of the water but the cleanliness of the facilities.  The cases of illness from Romaine that seem to happen too often but then some of that was from California products also, sigh!

And the water becomes murkier as it goes lower. On our farm we had 7 borewells. 6 of them would go dry anywhere between March and July.

106 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 61° and it is supposed to get to 60° today and windy this afternoon.  It is going to start warming up tomorrow and be in the 70s over the week end but nothing like in Mumbai!
Actually here as you go deeper the water gets clearer and well water is quite nice.  It may be because our underground aquifer is in granite but as you go deeper the water gets better.
I saw a card that was quite pretty for Holi and tried to save it to post but it would not save.  Any way Happy Holi and also today is national Womens Day so happy women's day to Barbara.

Yesterday's high was 37°, today's forecast is 36°/16° with tiny chance of snow flurries this morning. Yeah, I could never take Mumbai's high temperatures! Just can't deal with hot weather.

100 this mostly fair morning. 18° when I got up.

Yesterday's high was 40° today's forecast is 39°/27°with possible snow flurries overnight.

Well, as excited as I was with Chewy gifting me the kibble and canned food, my regular order has been all over the map besides being delivered to me. One box spent 2 days in Billings, MT before showing up.The second box spent 4 days vacationing in Sacramento, CA then 2 days in Salt Lake City. It was due here the 6th now they are saying Friday between 12:10 and 4:10. What the heck???? I may have to rethink Chewy once I can drive again!

It seems he misses posting fasting a couple times a month...usually because he either got busy with his projects or is not feeling well. I hope it is projects though he did say he had a rough night. Hope he is feeling better tomorrow.

101 this morning. Well, I thought I posted here yesterday but I guess I missed.  I did get up a bit late but I posted on other threads and just missed this one I guess!  I usually sleep quite well and get 7-8 hours a night but the sciatica has been acting up at night and woke me up a few times.  I still get up by 6:00AM but may be a bit slow first thing.
We are supposed to get some rain today, in fact I just looked out and it has just started to sprinkle.  We won't mind it at all but some areas in the mountains at lower altitudes, under 6000 feet, are still dealing with record snow levels and rain will melt snow and they are worried about flooding.  Also homes and buildings that have big snow loads can be over loaded with the weight of the rain and it is quite dangerous.  We can use the rain, in fact need it but it can also cause problems.
