105 this morning.  We got to 66° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 67° today with mostly sunny skies.  Another "atmospheric river" storm system is heading for California next week and it is due Monday through Wednesday and much of the state is bracing for more flooding and landslides.  Here we may get a bit of rain Tuesday.
I have not usually had a problem with most of the meds I have been taking and my blood pressure was sky high before I was given prescriptions for it.  I have taken a "water pill" before with no problem but this one I think was not good to me.  Once my cardiologist gave me a prescription for increasing the blood flow in my legs when I complained about pain in my legs when walking and it caused my heart rate to go scary high.  I called his office and asked about it and was told that it should not do that and to basically ignore it.  I didn't and stopped taking it but I took it before my next appointment and sure enough it made my heart rate go high and when he saw it he then believed me and had me stop the med.  I think sometimes doctors need to believe their patients and give them the benefit of the doubt.

116 this mostly sunny morning. 19° when I got up (still @ 7AM, think that is my norm now...)

Yesterday's high was 45°, today's forecast is 51°/24° and mostly clear. Sorry you people in CA have another big storm coming. Looking at my 10 day forecast for here and it looks like it will pass us by, thank goodness. Hope this is the last of the bad weather for you Wally!!

I have come to the point in my life where I do question some things my pcp says he want to prescribe for me. I often get the feeling he is just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks... I know my body and what some meds do to it and have refused some things lately that I felt were unnecessary. I really need to start my search for a new pcp!!

100 this morning.  We got to a high of 66° yesterday and it was supposed to be sunny today but it has been raining for about the last two hours, just a drizzle but it wasn't predicted.  The major storm heading this way is still Tuesday and we won't get a lot here but some of the soaked areas will get a lot.  It is good in a lot of ways and bad in some but we are better off getting much needed water.  This storm is going to be colder so the snow level will be lower.  Ski resorts will be open well into the Summer this year.

104 this sunny morning. It was 18° when I got up so still very cold/freezing nights.

Yesterday's high was 49° today's forecast is 51°/30° though I think the 30° might be a bit high, I hope the 51° comes true. It will help dry out the mud suck my road is so maybe I can get my car running (probably with neighbor's help) and go out by myself and run some errands. Important one is to get my taxes to preparer, once I finish them...

Noting in the 10 day forecast that is worrisome, maybe some showers end of the month but that is so far out who knows??

107 this morning.  Our high yesterday was only 59° and it started to rain, really only a light drizzle, in the morning and went on all day until late afternoon.  Pretty much a surprise as it wasn't predicted at all and ended up to be just under 1/4 inch which isn't much but it did get everything wet.  The next "atmospheric river" is supposed to arrive starting tonight and tomorrow people are trying to prepare for it.  The central valley of California is farmland and is responsible for much of the country's produce, lettuce, broccoli, spinach and almost all of the strawberries and it is mostly under water now. There is probably going to be a shortage of all of this later.
When people build a home overlooking a cliff it may have a great view but it also has problems:

I wouldn't want to try out that pool!

112 this cloudy morning.

51° was the high yesterday, nice day! Today's forecast is around 46°/30° may be a small chance of rain showers in afternoon and light snow overnight. Small chances and any snow will melt off.

That photo is awful Wally, and I feel badly for those poor people. But having lived through many a wet season in CA, I have seen many just as bad and some even with the house just plain gone. I don't know what or if people really think of this possibility when they build in these places. I guess it is the old "can't/won't happen to me" mentality. I would never in a million years take that risk with my home and possessions. Guess that is the difference between the ultra rich and the rest of us...

We have been reading about rain in some parts of North India which has brought about a sudden change in the weather and a drop in temperature. And, we woke up this morning to a wet pavement and road and are told that it has drizzled through the night. The weather has become highly unpredictable and the seasons may need to be revisited by science. This is all thanks to climate change.

A house on a cliffside has to be planned very well and it all depends on what the cliff is made of. From the picture that looks like a lot of loose soil to me. Had they planned and made some retaining walls, that shouldn't have happened. But, I'm sure the building codes for the area would have specified that. I remember as a small child, an uncle who was working with the Railway design board, had told me that they design a carriage for a load of 800 people + luggage, if it seats 80 people.

104 this morning.  Our next "atmospheric river" event starts today and right here we are getting a light rain that started early this morning.  There is a break right now but we should get more later but not a hard rain.  Other parts of the state are seeing a big amount of rain as expected and will of course have to deal with flooding and mudslides in some areas.
Houses sliding down a cliff are not rare around the coastal areas as people want to have the great view sitting up on a cliff and tempt mother nature often.  As you can see in the picture the cliff isn't rock, it is dirt and dirt moves! You would think that building codes would prevent this but obviously not.

99 this mostly cloudy morning.

50° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 49°/22° mostly cloudy.

Getting antsy to get out and take a drive. Hope my neighbor comes over soon to get my car started. Though I think I am actually a bit nervous to drive...

I'm feeling pretty good and each night finally sleeping better but still feel so cautious about doing something wrong with my back. I think that is why the thought of driving makes me nervous. Gotta get back on that horse!!!

I suppose that your car would be an automatic. Getting back on the wheel of that one should be easy. But yes, managing in traffic may be overwhelming at first.

Some days ago we were discussing depleting water tables. I just read a report which says India could be water scarce by 2040. That, I suppose the scientific world should be able to take care of by that time.

107 this morning.  Our high today is supposed to be 55° the same as yesterday but the rain is out of here although it is still a factor in many parts of California.  We got just over 1/2 inch here yesterday which is quite good for here in the desert.
It turns out that those were apartments in that picture I posted that were on the edge of the cliff that is failing.  They are evacuated but are still in danger of going down the cliff and the owners stand to have a big loss.

Yeah SKB you would think it is a problem that can be resolved but then, here, politics gets in the way of any rational discussion about how to do anything.  There are still a very large group of people that refuse to admit that there is anything like climate change and refuse to do anything to combat it because it is difficult or too expensive and a lot of them are in a political position where they make laws.  I feel sorry for younger people that are going to have to live with the bad decisions of their elders.
Barbara, I can certainly understand you being cautious about doing anything that would have an adverse effect on your back but I doubt that driving would be a problem.  Maybe take it on a short drive to get a feel for it before going all the way to town.

Snap Wally! 107 here too this sunny morning.

48° was the high yesterday, still dry. Today's forecast is 51°/26° again dry but maybe some rain tomorrow.

Agree with everything you said abut the politics of building in possibly unsafe areas Wally. It is politics and money passed under the table too I think...

I still haven't tried to start my car but hope neighbor can come over today. I think it will take some driving around to get it all charged up again, if that is all that is wrong with it... Just glad I did a good shopping coming home from neurologist appt when my friend drove me!  Really don't know why I am so nervous about driving but I also want to get out there and do it too!

A couple of years ago I had met an agricultural research scientist who was really upset over the climate change rhetoric (according to him). To back his stance he started showing me historic data to show that the earth has over heated and over cooled several times in the past. I hope he is right or else we're in for deep trouble. Maybe the last time the earth over heated there were no people around, so maybe it was OK.

108 this morning.  Well, the rain is out of here and it is sunny today but it is going to get windy.  Most of California is still trying to deal with the effects of so much rain and the flooding and dirt slides.  Another problem has been pot holes in the highways that have caused majat damage to several hundred cars.  People going to work early in the morning can't see them and plow into them and do damage to their cars.  There have been cases where there were as many as 50 cars pulled over to the side of the road with flat tires and damages too bad to go on.
Yesterday in Montebello, CA which is near Los Angeles there was a tornado that touched down and damaged 17 buildings.  It happens on occasion but it is rare.

You know Barbara you can buy a battery charger that will also jump start your car for not that much and would be real handy to have as you live in a remote area.  I have one and while I haven't needed it but for one time when my dome light was on and I didn't know it.  It was sure handy to have it then.  Something like this would work"
Battery Charger

You can spend more and get one that has a battery in it and can jump start your car also but that is only if you need to get going right away.  The charger will get your battery up to the point it will start in a couple of hours.  Just an idea.
