Don't miss thr earthquakes! Was there for Loma Prieta and that was the worst one I experienced so closely. MT is #4 on the list of states with the most earthquakes, but only one small one near me since I moved here in 2004.

Yes, I think so too. May happen 3 or 4 times as temps will go higher before they start to slide back again.

Well, I don't know any details yet but my neighbor's (across my dirt road) garage caught fire this afternoon and burned to the ground.  It was a huge 2 story garage/workshop with probably more sq footage than my home! I went out to feed the cats, looked up and saw black smoke billowing up and flames coming out all the windows! It was very close to the neighbor that mowed my lawn and had just finished mowing again. He raced across the road and turned his irrigation water on the fence between them.

What was even more troubling was the fire trucks took at least 20 minutes to get there and one of the 3 nearby stations is only about a mile away! Very scary!

101 this partly cloudy morning.

77° was the high yesterday and it was hazy. Today's forecast is 83°/52°. with tiny chance of thunder storm somewhere in the area. Slight haze again from Canadian fires.

Checked on Nextdoor app this morning and one of the firefighters posted an answer re the fire. He said it was a garage fire, no one injured. That was good to hear,  no reason given yet for the cause. It was an awful sight to watch it burn down, especially so close to home!

Just a few random fireworks set off last night...hopefully that will be it until Labor Day.

Snap Barbara! 101 here this morning also.  We had a high of 103° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same today.  It looks like we will be around 103-101° for the next few days.  This is not bad for around here in July.
The garage burning down to the ground is pretty scary being that close.  It is not good that it took that long for the fire trucks to get there but then you don't know when they got the call.
No fireworks here last night so I think it is over.  We don't get fireworks here on Labor Day so happy about that.

True about when the fire dept got the call, I don't know. I did see next door neighbor making a call just after seeing the fire and it was a good 15 min after that they arrived.

You are lucky, we get fireworks here New Year's Eve, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. Sadly, anytime the yahoos can justify it.

106 this partly cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 80°there was a smoky smell to the air, not sure if from the local fire or the Canadian smoke still drifting a bit this way. Today's forecast is 85°/53° with partly cloudy skies.

I was talking to my neighbor (the one next door to the fire) and he said that it was some sort of spontaneous combustion. The guy had a boat and a brand new truck in the garage and apparently the boat just "caught fire/blew up(?)". Everything inside was totally destroyed and the garage burned to the ground. Fire was so hot it even melted the brand new siding on the house of the next door neighbor on the other side of the fire. Tragic all around.

I think I am still a bit skeptical on the actual cause of the fire...

93 this morning.  We had a high of 102° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same today.  It should be around there through the weekend then warming up next week with highs around 110°.
Yeah it is hard to know for sure what may have caused the fire.  It could be something like some oily rags kept in a box and they can cause spontaneous combustion or it could be an electrical short but it is hard to know for sure. Too bad but good that nobody was hurt.

That's unlikely unless there are some chemicals stored there. In all probability it might have been triggered by an electrical short circuit like Wally says. Places like garages can become neglected over time and defects with wiring or switches can be ignored if you're not living there.

The owners do live there full time and supposedly they were home at the time of the fire. The garage was maybe 10 years old at most and used regularly judging by the lights I'd see at night. They told the other neighbor that something in the boat caught fire. They were also storing a brand new truck for their son while he is in Afghanistan. I don't know these people personally so I can't say anything about them, but the whole thing just seems a bit odd.

98 this sunny morning.

81° was the high yesterday. Warming trend seems to be on the way, may see 90° in a few days...yuk! Today's forecast is 89°/56° sunny and one site says possible thunder storm.

Have the house all opened up right now to let in the cool, fresh air, it is 51° right now. Won't be long before I close it all up to keep the cool inside. No AC, it is a wall unit that hasn't worked for years. May have to look into getting it fixed, among a few other things that need fixing...

Snap again Barbara, 98 for me this morning too.  We had a high of 101° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same today.  It is going to warm up next week and we will see over 110°.  We couldn't get by without air conditioning here.  We have an evaporative cooler that is whole house and is ducted into all of the rooms and it works quite well when the humidity is low which is most of the time and we have a refrigeration unit that we use when the humidity is higher and the evaporative cooler does not work well.  As a result it is very comfortable inside and that is where you will find me! ;D
We do open the house to the outside air in the morning most of the time when it is cool.

I had an evaporative cooler (I think it was anyway) when I first moved in here in 2004. No one told me anything about how to use it, in particular that you need to drain it in the Winter. Learned the hard way that the water freezes and it burst the tank (or whatever holds it) and water leaked out and ruined the ceiling in the room below it. Had the area sealed off, ceiling fixed and that was that...left me with just the wall unit in another room. I get by opening and closing up as it gets too hot.

So many things the sellers neglected to tell me about how things worked. Coming from CA I had no experience with many things...

106 this mostly sunny morning.

82° was the high yesterday, short of the forecast which was fine with me!! Today's forecast is 91°/53° but I'm hoping again that is on the high side and it will still be mid 80's at worst. Do not like the heat any more than the wind.

A little nervous about new pcp appointment on Tuesday. Sure hope I like her as I am really ready to be done with current one!

111 this morning.  We got to 102° yesterday and it is predicted to be 100° today.  Next week it is going to warm up and we will get to 110+° so stating inside is the plan.
That is a bummer Barbara.  Yeah swamp coolers take care and need to be "winterized" every year and then put back into service when it gets warm.  A lot of people even here where swamp coolers (evaporative coolers) are common a lot of people are not aware of what is needed and learn the hard way.  The main reason for swamp coolers is that they have always been cheaper to run than refrigeration units but with the increased efficiency of newer refrigeration units it is becoming not that bad to use the refrigeration units and not have to deal with the swamp coolers.
I hope your new pcp turns out to be a keeper.  It has been about 10 years now that I dumped the pcp I was using and started with the one I now use and I haven't been happier.  One positive about my previous pcp is that as he had absolutely no advice or direction about my diabetes he caused me to start doing my own research and I started to visit forums like this and learned how to actually be in charge of my diabetes.  The other plus is that my present pcp has been supportive of my choices.
