133 this sunny morning. So frustrated over the high numbers... Still feeling tired and really don't have any appetite. No fever and what I do/can eat I can taste and smell just fine. Was a little worried, but I think it is mostly stress and pain...

Yesterday's high was 30°, today's forecast is 40°/10°.

If you had tested, you would have shown out to be +ve. The newer Omicron version is so contagious and flu like and can be very asymptomatic.

Well I do have a home test here, but I periodically go through these periods of no appetite and my knee has been sore for months. I am beginning to wonder if my falls are a result of obstructed vision due to the cataracts. The test costs $17 for one and I am not sure I want to use it for this right now as they are not that easy to come by. I'll think about it.

97 this morning.  Well, it is supposed to be warming up but we were at 28° this morning but supposed to be heading to a high of 66°.  Tomorrow it is supposed to be 76° and 79° Tuesday and Wednesday then cooling down a bit.  There is a small chance of rain next weekend but we will have to see how that develops.

Barbara, you can get the free covid at home test kits being provided by the government, 4 kits per household, at:
https://www.covidtests.gov/

I got mine about a month ago and used one after I felt I had gotten over the covid I had and it came up negative.  I don't know how accurate these rapid tests are but by the way I feel and the test result I do believe that I am over it.
You are so careful and mostly at home I doubt you have actually gotten covid and since you are not vaccinated it would probably be worse.  While the Omicron variant is not as serious as the Delta variant we still have people dying from it every day so being careful is still important.

129 this cloudy morning.

Thanks for the link Wally, I will order them later today or tomorrow.

35° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 43°/14° or 42°/33° depending where I look. I doubt overnight will be that warm though. There is a small possibility of rain but will just have to wait and see if it actually happens.

I have a congestion, cold and sore throat. This is probably due to a visit to the mall on Saturday. I would have expected lower number based on my food and exercise patterns for the past few days, but I still did get a 125.

Wally , I have been reading on another forum and most people that got the 4 free test the expiry date was just a couple months out from delivery. The test I bought locally is good until mid Dec this year. I will order the free ones...why not?  Who knows how accurate they are or how long they will be good... At this point I am not really afraid of getting covid...I am very careful and isolated. But at surgery and hotel after, I am scared...

88 this morning.  It starts to warm up now.  Overnight low was 42° compared to 28° yesterday and heading to 75° today and 79° tomorrow and Wednesday then cooling back down to the 60s.
Barbara, I don't know about anybody else but the kits I got from the free government kits have an expiration of 6/2023 so over a year.  These are regular retail kits like the ones you would purchase.  Like you said they are free so why not ?  I know you are careful and that is good but there is always a chance to get infected.  I thought that I was OK because I am careful but I live with my BIL and he is a plumbing contractor that is among many other people and brought it home.  We are both fully vaccinated so the effect was not that bad and the test doesn't prevent you from getting infected but I wanted to test after I believed I was over it just to verify that it was gone.  I don't know how accurate these rapid tests are but I tried it anyway.  If you are sick enough you are going to go to the hospital no matter what the test shows.

124 this rainy morning. My road is going to be a giant mud suck! I think I can get by another day with the yard tiger food supply.

Thanks for that input Wally! At least 4 people on the other forum just got their 4 free test with expiry dates just months away. I am going to order mine today.

Yes, I am extremely careful about exposure but I do know it can happen no matter how careful I am so having the tests will help. I am also considering getting vaxed. It is a hard choice but probably a good idea.

I have good days and bad days with my knee. I see my gastro next week, he has had both knees replaced so I want to ask him about the surgery and recovery time. It is all so hard living alone...

Barbara, I still think you would do yourself a big favor if you would see an Orthopedic specialist about your knee.  Your gastro may have had knee replacement but he is not able to diagnose if it is necessary for your case.  My SIL has had both knees replaced but she is quite a bit overweight.  There is a recovery time and it is for a while.  The injections worked for me and they don't require any recovery, you just get the injection in the doctor's office and go home.  You are good to go from there.

No free kits here but I have hardly heard of a negative home test. I read a news report that the kit showed positive even with tap water. I don't know how true that is but I do think that Omicron (if it exists) has swept through the whole world. Maybe that is the end of this Corona thing.

102 this morning.  It is a heat wave over the Southern California area.  We got to 77° yesterday and heading to 80° today.  Yesterday Anaheim, California, home of the original Disney Land got to 90° and was the hottest spot in the country.  It is going to start cooling down Thursday.

Yeah, I don't really know how accurate these rapid tests are but I was happy that I got a negative result.  My theory is that if you get Covid you will know it without testing and treat it as needed.  The value of a test to me is to confirm that you have actually gotten over it.

My sciatica has been a pretty long ordeal but I do seem to be improving.  I do like the PT sessions and the people are really nice and it seems to be helping.  I long to get back to normal again.

132 this partly cloudy morning.

It rained all day yesterday temp got to 48°. Today there could be some showers with forecast of 53°/40°. Going to wait one more day before I go out to shop. Maybe the mud will dry out some.

Wally, I want to get my eye taken care of before I tackle the knee. Then I'll do the other eye. I did find a neighbor that will take me to the first surgery so I don't have to stay in a hotel overnight which makes me feel better.

Ordered my home tests yesterday. I guess it can take a while for them to come due to high demand. I do have one here if I feel I need it.

Yeah, I think it is wise to take care of one thing at a time.  The eye surgery is pretty easy to recover from and getting it out of the way will help.  It only takes an X-ray of your knee for the orthopedic doctor to diagnose your knee and decide the best course for your case.  I am still a big fan of the injections for the knee because they worked so well for me.  OTOH a knee replacement may be necessary but an exam will decide which course is best.

126 today. I'm expecting to see lower numbers but every once in a while something social/religious comes up and I have to eat/drink something that is against our system.

So I'm at 126 this morning. My latest A1c is 6.4 though I was expecting it to be more like 6.1. I'm coming down from 7.0 in December so that's how bad I have been in 2021.
