105 this cloudy morning.

81° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 85°/52°. Might be a tiny bit of rain or thunder as a storm passes way north of here. Had a small rain around 3:30AM, enough that the sounds woke me up but that is gone now. Heading for a very hot weekend!

Gradually all the tests are hitting my medical portal. With the A1c of 6% she is now classifying me as "pre-diabetic"...sheesh. I guess that is better than previous pcp who said I was "cured" of diabetes. Not sure how/if this dx will change Medicare options for various services to diabetics. Personally, I will always consider myself a diabetic "under control" and keep on working at being that way.

104 this morning.  We had a high of 104° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 108° today so it is warming up.  It is hot all over so not just here.
I don't know where the doctors get their idea of what is diabetic and what is not.  I am in agreement with SKB that there is no such thing as "pre-diabetic", either you are or you are not and you don't change from diabetic to "cured" that is just ignorant.  I am fortunate there as my PCP has not changed my diagnosis as diabetic even when I am in the 5% range.  She has said that she has no other patients with that low of an A1c but has no reason to change the diagnosis.  How can you be diabetic for several years and then all of the sudden be "pre-diabetic"?  It makes no sense.  The simple answer is that if I eat as many carbs as someone that is not diabetic my blood sugar will soar to a huge number!  That is diabetic no matter how you look at it. The fact that you control it by restricting how many carbs you take is does not change the fact.

I thought I was pretty clear with her that I still considered I was diabetic even if under control. I'm hoping that it was just some sort of auto response to the A1c in the portal note.

I told her my frustration at being called "cured" by previous pcp and told her how eating 1/3 c of ice cream recently put me still at 156 3 hours later... Will talk with her more next month at Wellness apt. sigh...

Yeah I think it would be worthwhile to discuss it with her.  I don't know what kind of clinic she is at but they may make the diagnosis based on your A1c and the doctor may not have input it.  My PCP is at a clinic that is owned by the local hospital and they are really quite good at letting the doctors be in charge of most things but it could be different.

This clinic is also owned by the Hospital up in town where my former pcp is located. That is why I moved to her as she has access to all the records from the hospital. I do kind of think the dx was just generated by the A1c. It will be interesting to see what she says...

99 this sunny morning.

81° was the high yesterday, with just a few clouds. Today's forecast is 87°/53° and sunny. Over the weekend it is supposed to get up into the mid 90's and maybe even higher. I'm not looking forward to that as I don't do well in the heat at all. It will cool during next week and then next weekend is supposed to be even hotter. I hope not!!

I'm just going to hunker down, get more water bowls out for the kitties and try to stay as cool as possible.

85 this morning.  We had a high of 107° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 112° today so warming up and it is going to be a hot weekend.  They are saying it may hit 130° in Death Valley and it is not that far from here.  There are tourist that are going to be happy because they come to Death Valley this time of year so they can go home and brag about experiencing the extreme heat.  I go to Death Valley in the winter!
I have seen in the news about extreme flooding in Northern India from the Monsoon rains, pretty scary.

I'm with you on that Wally! Back in my hiking days when DH was alive, we only hiked in Death Valley in the Winter! They don't call it Death Vally for nothing!!

89 this morning.  We got to 110° yesterday and the prediction for today is 116°.  We have seen hotter here but not by much.  It has been 120-122° before.  It is supposed to be the same tomorrow then a slight cooling but not much.  By the news you would thing that it has never been this hot here or any where else in the Southern California area but it is not unusual at all.
Yeah Barbara Death Valley deserves it's name.  Every year there are people that die hiking in the extreme heat.  This year so far there have been two deaths of people that have ignored the warnings and took off out in the desert in the heat.
I saw on the weather channel that the smoke from the Canadian wildfires is heading back to the USA.  I hope it doesn't effect you.

102 this sunny morning. Got sidetracked cleaning a closet...

81° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 92°/53° hoping it doesn't get that high. Smoke from Canada fires is supposed to get here today and for the ext few days. I am on the outskirts of the back edge so may not be too bad. Just maybe it will keep the heat down just a bit.

One of the major lakes near me, Flathead lake is so low there is no water for irrigation of the local farmers. Lots of crops are going to be lost. The agency that controls Hungry Horse dam has refused to release water to restore lake levels to a point they can irrigate again. Citing "have to go through legal channels" to open flood gates... sign, bureaucracy at its finest! What worries me is I am on well water and if the water table drop around here, I may be in big trouble!

Another 102 this sunny morning.

It only got to 82° yesterday, there was some smoke from the Canadian fires but not too bad. Today's forecast is 96°/59° with only a slight chance if smoke. I really hope it doesn't go that high. At least it is supposed to cool a bit during the week but next weekend, high again.

Have a safe trip skb!

Snap Barbara, 102 here also this morning.  We got to 114° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same today then we are going to see a small cooling but still around 110° for the rest of the week.  Typical summer in the desert.  They are getting a lot of rain and flooding in the North East USA and it has gone on for a few days.

I saw that about the rain on one of the weather sites I use, pretty scary. I wonder if some of it will go North and help control the fires in Canada. Not sure about what the weather flow is back there.
