108 this morning.  We had a high of 107° yesterday and it is predicted to be 111° today but we have been running a couple of degrees under the prediction but that is still pretty much the same and still hot.  Moving water would be really nice nearby.  Here the only moving water is when we turn on a faucet!  ::)
The fire danger in California is very real also and there have been a few outbreaks recently but not as bad as it has been in the past.  I am afraid that expecting people to use their brains nowadays is a lost cause.  I read an article this morning about how tourist around the world are causing all kinds of problems like the two that were carving their initials on the Coliseum in Italy and in Yellowstone National Park that try to get up close to Bison and the idiot lady that put her hand into one of the boiling hot hot springs and was surprised when it burned!  That is just an example of a couple of incidents but it goes on and on.

I remember the woman and the hot springs, and it always amazes me when people jump out of their cars to get closer to the bear or bison or any other wild animal...what are they thinking??? They aren't, you're right! I just fear for those of us that end up the victims of their stupidity.

116 this sunny morning. Don't know why, DP I guess... it is what it is.

82° ended up the high here yesterday. Again much cooler than the forecasts, I'll take it! Today's forecast for here is 94°/52° but I hope that is off again! Going up to town and it is predicted to be 98° there and that could happen. :(

Called the hand dr yesterday because my trigger finger and both thumbs still hurt and they got me in today (one day after the 6wk waiting period between shots!) for more shots. Long ago when I had these steroid shots it took 2 rounds so not totally surprised I needed them again. What blew me away was they got me in today! The next day! Love these guys!

Also made appt for colonoscopy and another test Endoscopy(?) they got me in Sept 12, yeah not as prompt...but OK w/me.

Finally found a place that will TNR my cats!! I guess things are finally opening up after the Covid shutdowns. They will trap all the cats, neuter them and then return to me. For Free!! They set up a horse trailer to keep the fixed ones in (so I can fed them) until they have trapped all the cats and returned them. They are even going to help set up hay bale shelters for the winter for the kitties. I was just about in tears at the end of the conversation as the way it was going I was going to have to call Animal Control to take most of them and because they are feral, they would be euthanized. My heart just couldn't let me do that. They go on vacation the month of Aug so process will begin Sept 5. What a huge blessing and relief!!

100 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 108° and it should be about the same today.  This is where it will be for the rest of the month then maybe even hotter in August.
My colonoscopy is next Friday and I will be glad to have it over.  The worst part is the prep but I have been through it several times before so I know what to do.
Glad you found the people to take care of the cats.  That should be a big relief.

123 this mostly sunny morning.

86° was the high here yesterday. I have no idea where the weather station is located that reports stats for my area but they are consistently higher. And that is OK with me... Today's forecast is 97°/58° ugh!

It was so hot up in town yesterday and the AC is out in my car, I felt like I was in a slow cooker all the way there! Town was in the 90's and I expect my town stats come from closer to there than where I actually am.

Dr gave me 3 more steroid shots, though I think he might have missed the mark on one, but will give it over the weekend to see if they just haven't yet taken full effect. Rather surprised fasting was as low (for steroid shots) but maybe it just isn't fully in my system yet.

Think I am going to get the cane Wally shared with us. I fell again yesterday morning. Fortunately it was a pretty soft landing but have some small aches and new pains. I don't need the walker in the house, but a cane that will self stand might just be enough to stop these "tripping over my shadow" episodes...

86 this morning.  We got to 110° yesterday and that is where it is supposed to be today.  It is supposed to be just a bit cooler next week but still around 105°.  Thank goodness for the AC here in the house and in my car as it would be unbearable without it.
The cane works some of the time for me but I use the walker a lot and use it in the house.  I mainly have it as a protection from falling and having something handy to grab onto if I lose my balance even a little bit.  It may be something for you to look into Barbara.  It seems you have fallen too many times and suffered from the damage.  I am just not going to have an episode from falling if I can help it.

Wisely put. This deserves to go into "Quote for the Day" thread.
Barbara please do take care. A fall for any of us, after 60 could be disastrous. Go for the cane if it helps you.

97 this sunny morning. Really surprised considering the steroid shots. Maybe all the liquid I drank due to the heat yesterday helped dilute the steroids in y system??

88° was the high here yesterday, I don't think I can really believe any of the forecasts, just keep track on my own outside thermometer. Yesterday's prediction was 97°. Today's forecast is 100°/58°. I'll go by my readings. Implement all my hot weather protocols, ie: windows covered daytime, windows open overnight to cool down, not opening doors very often and just staying in as much as possible. So far it is bearable that way.

I know Wally you have much higher temps but I don't have an AC option so I do what I can...not used to such high temps here. We are supposed to have some weather come through Sun/Mon and the fear is dry lightening. Already there are several fires North of me, so far nothing very close but it can/has happened.

I wonder if I still have time to order the cane before the possible UPS strike? How was your cane shipped Wally?

88 this morning.  We had a high of 111° yesterday and the prediction is for 114° today but probably closer to yesterday.  I report what is shown on my personal weather station and I think it is really quite accurate but the temp. can vary several degrees in other areas not that far away as is shown on the Weather Underground map and there are a lot of personal weather stations in this area.  I get my predictions from the Weather Channel website as it has been the closest to what I show here and the National Weather Service is always off by a lot.
Yeah it is not fun to deal with high temps without a cooler but like you said it is not typical for where you live.  here it is typical so the cooler is a must.  It doesn't help to open the windows when the overnight low is in the 80s.  That was one of the nice things about living on the mountain.  It was rare but we could hit 100° once in a while and we did have a cooler but it always was cool at night and we could open the windows.
The cane is neat in that it is sectional and it comes on a package that is pretty small so it ships USPS.  It is a snap to put together, you just pull it straight and it has an elastic band inside and it is almost automatic how it goes together.  It is easy to break down also to make it easy to carry in your car or anywhere else.

Wally, what kind of personal weather station do you have? Is there a similar or the one you have on Amazon? I'm looking at them and don't really have any idea what I'm doing. Low tech here, but I think I'd like a station if it is w/in my ability to set it up. Thanks!  ~ cat ~

Well this is the one that I have:

weather station

If you put weather station in the search on Amazon you will see a whole bunch of different ones at a wide range of prices.  The one I have is not that easy to set up because it has to be mounted on a pole about 20 feet above the ground or on a roof mounted on a tri-pod.  I am lucky because my BIL is a plumbing contractor and we used a 20 foot long piece of 2" diameter iron pipe and mounted it to a clothes-line pole that was in the back yard.  Any similar weather station like mine is going to have to be mounted in a similar way.  The reason it has to be mounted like this is because it is monitoring wind and rain in addition to the temperature.
There are other brands that only have rain and temperature that are easier to mount and set up and may be all you want but I have no experience with any of them and don't know how well they may work but I have my doubts.

Thanks Wally!  Well, I do have a wood pole at the side of the house that the TV antennae used to be attached to...but that whole process sounds like more than I am up to.Just thought I'd ask. Yeah I did the search on Amazon and felt totally out of my realm of possibility. I guess I will just keep on with the outside thermometer and my window protocol and be happy with that.

I'm at 88° now at 7:15pm and the high "only" got to 89° not the predicted 100° that all the weather sites and TV weather said. I'll stick with the look out the window and that is what the weather is...

That wouldn't work for me as I am surrounded by skyscrapers all around. They have blocked my DTH signals and sunlight.
