Back home and the blood draw is over.  Yeah the lab is at the hospital and the draw station can get pretty busy and the wait can be kind of long sometimes so around 7:00-7:30AM is the sweet spot.  The draw station opens at 6:00AM but is busy with people going there before work.  My PCP had me taking an iron supplement because I was anemic but she says that the anemia has improved and she doesn't want me to be taking iron if it is too high  so the test.

111 this sunny/smoky morning.

Yesterday's high ended up at 89°. It was very smoky all morning blowing out early afternoon so that kept temp down. Some of the smoke is from Canada but most from local fires. Today looks like the same will happen. Forecast is 101°/63° but the smoke is here again so hopefully won't get that hot.

Counting down the days until the kitties get trapped and fixed (9/5). I see a couple that look pregnant again already. Hopefully they will be OK with aborting the unborn. I can't afford to feed any more than I already have! Sad idea but unfortunately necessary.

Handyman stopped by last evening, looked at faucet, said I could repair, parts about $200 (probably last a couple of years) or new one somewhere around $120ish. Makes sense to go for new and not have to keep replacing parts... He is good with that and will send me some pix of choices. I am not fussy, as long as water comes out and it doesn't leak I am good with it. He also is good with the other projects I have, none of which are any rush. So felt good about that.

101 this morning.  We had a high of 105° yesterday and it is supposed to be the same today.  Now it looks like we will have a real good chance of rain Sunday and Monday and all of Southern California is looking at significant rain from a tropical storm that is in Mexico now and heading this way.
I have been reading about the fires in Canada and it looks pretty bad.  Hope that any fires in Montana keep away from where you are.  There are several fires in Northern California close to the Oregon border but not this far south.

So far the fires here are not that close. One is just South of me is way up in the mountains. Not far as the crow flies, but a long way for a fire to travel. The smoke however gets here when the wind blows this way. I really dread fire season...

104 this cloudy morning.

It got to 90° here yesterday and I was feeling the heat as I was in and out a lot. Today's forecast is a blissful 86°/50° with some chance of a shower or two then windy in afternoon. The hurricane in Mexico is pushing cooler air up the coast which in turn is pushing some cooler temps and wind my way. Kinda love the interconnectedness of us all through the weather!

Pump looks great and the assistant took some of the huge slabs of ornamental rocks that made up a wall around the leach field and laid them around the pump area. Looks really nce! Now, if I get the faucet fixed soon all will be well for a while...

80 this morning.  We had a high of 104° yesterday and it will be about the same today.  Tomorrow we will start to see the effects of the hurricane Hilary that is coming from Mexico and the temperature is going to drop quite a bit and we may see a lot of rain starting tomorrow afternoon and going through Monday.  We are being warned about flooding and it is surely possible but we will have to wait and see what develops.
Yeah it is interesting how the weather that I see here has an effect on what you see a couple of days later.  I actually didn't think about you getting any change from the hurricane so that is interesting.  I know that the winter storms that come from Alaska and Canada usually come down through here and then you get them in a day or two.

120 this partly cloudy morning. Still higher than I like, not sure why.

80° was the high yesterday, with just a few drops of rain a couple of times. Today's forecast is 87°/49° with possible thunderstorms in evening. Heavy rains may start Sunday and the rains could last through Wednesday. This morning the weather said late Sun. and Mon. could be really heavy rain with possible flooding in areas. This must be a real monster Hurricane to have its reach this far North of it. Some of the storm tract looks to be going into Canada even. Good for the fire outlook, but must be terrible for those there in the eye of the storm!

Hope you are out of harm's way Wally!

My handyman is installing my new faucet this afternoon! Yay! No more carrying water from the bathroom to the kitchen...

114 this morning.  Our high yesterday was 102° and we will see a big drop today with the approaching storm. Yeah Barbara we don't really expect much more than heavy rain here.  Hurricane Hilary will be downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it gets to the US border but it will still have a lot of rain and winds for all of Southern California.  I don't think that it is such a monster hurricane it is just the path it is taking that we don't see much.  There is a big low pressure over Nevada that is bringing it this way and usually these go off to the West and out to sea.  Actually I am hoping that we do get a lot of rain here but in some areas it could be a problem.  I am surprised that it is going as far North as where you are!

Interesting, our weather is still reporting it is going to have a pretty big affect here, but if yours is saying Hilary has been downgraded, I would assume it wouldn't be such a problem here. I guess it all depends on how the weather travels. There is a cold front coming down from Canada here which was supposed to push the hurricanes weather here too. I guess I will just have to wait and see how it goes.

Well, it is being downgraded from a hurricane, which it is now, to a tropical storm and that is what has always been expected.  Then also there has never been a tropical storm warning for Southern California either so it is still a big deal.  Some areas may get one year of rain in one day according to the weather guys.  So no, we are not going to see a hurricane here but the storm is still a pretty big deal.

105 this cloudy morning.

The high was 80° yesterday. today's forecast is 74°/58° with rain starting in the afternoon and possible thunderstorms. The rain is supposed to be heavy this evening and into tomorrow then will move on. So I guess we are going to have some affects from Hilary.

Faucet is repaired, also he found out the GFI circuit was tripped and turned it back on and now my plugs work in the 2 of my 3 bathrooms they didn't. He put in LED flood lights and replaced a vent pipe that had blown off the roof. All that, he was here about 3 hours, and he only charged $170 ($120 was the cost of the new faucet). He is a gem!

84 this morning.  We had a high of 90° yesterday but it is going to be quite a bit cooler today.  It started raining early this morning but just a light rain and right now we have gotten .35 inch but the heavy rain is supposed to begin later today and could be pretty heavy.  It's probably going to be good for here but some areas may have problems.
Glad your handy man is getting the things you need taken care of.  It sounds like he does good work.

Yes, he does do good work and he really doesn't gouge on his price. He is a trucker full time and developing his Handyman business on the side. He is also remodeling a bathroom for another customer. He would like to eventually retire from trucking and do this full time. I just hope he doesn't price himself out of my reach when that day comes...
