118 this foggy morning.

73° was the high yesterday with a couple good rain showers. Today's forecast is 89°/51° with just a small chance of some random remnants of Hilary in shower or two or thunderstorm.

Sticking close to home and trying to do as little as possible today.

102 this morning.  We had a high of 98° yesterday and it is supposed to be 100° today and warming up each day through Wednesday then cooling back down.
It kind of cracks me up but the news is making a big deal about the fact that Death Valley is still closed after the storm.  Anyone that has lived in the desert for any length of time knows that rains bring flash flooding and mud flows and damaged roads.  It is just a fact of life and that is why Death Valley was closed before the storm got here and will remain closed until the roads can be repaired.  I guess these headlines are for people that are not anywhere near here.

I wonder sometimes whether the weather people are just going for the "drama" to scare/rile people up. It really seems lately that here in particular they have been really off a lot. Yes, Hilary did cause damage in many places, but from what I hear on the TV forum, people that live in the affected area their damage was as bad as blown over plastic lawn chairs or some more than normal run off. I am really loosing faith in the TV forecasts.

107 this partly cloudy morning.

Yesterday's high was 80° it was a pretty nice day. Today's forecast is 90°/52° with maybe a sprinkle or two in the morning.

Tried to lure garage kitty out by putting its food outside. I left the side door open and came inside. Peeking out window to check if it was out. At one  point a different kitty went in and quickly came out. Next check and I saw a tail disappearing inside...dang missed it! Was hoping it came out but this morning some of the food was eaten so kitty is still inside. Will try again today and be more vigilant.

85 this morning.  Well,  our high yesterday was 97° and it is supposed to get to 102° today but it will probably be a couple of degrees below that.  Southern California is supposed to be experiencing a heat wave right now but for here it is pretty close to normal.  I use the website for the Weather Channel because it has been the closest most of the time to what I see right here and much closer than the National Weather Service but it does rely on advertising so you do have to put up with commercials but it doesn't exaggerate the weather.  TV stations and news websites are another story and they really do try for "sensationalism".

I too use The Weather Channel site, I also use Wunderground but I think that is also The Weather Channel. My FitBit has AccuWeather which sometimes is spot on, others not so much. It is often different from the other 2 so I don't think it is another Weather Channel site...who knows? I think the forecasts have more to do with where the particular weather station is located and not necessarily a particular town, I guess it could be anywhere "around" the vicinity of the town.

Actually Wunderground is owned by IBM and not the Weather Channel.  The website uses data provided by thousands of private weather stations in addition to commercial and government stations.  I have my personal weather station connected to the site and if you put KCARIDGE146 in the search bar it will take you to my weather station.  I think it is kind of neat and the other thing is that it shows the other stations in the area so you can get an idea of what is going on around the area. I have never used it for predictions though.

I didn't know that! I thought they were both The Weather Channel. Learn something new every day. Thanks.

I use Valley Processing Station (Stevensville MT) as my home on Wunderground. It isn't really true for my location most of the time, but the closest one I can find.

On The Weather Channel site it says: An IBM Business, so I guess they own both? What I like about that site is they show the radar moving in time and that seems fairly accurate for me, of course it covers a larger area so catches my location better. I still think most of it is a guesstimate of what will be, educated, but a guess none the same... It is interesting to look at it though!

113 this. sunny/smoky morning.

79° was the high yesterday. Today's forecast is 90°/52° sunny, but smoke from the fires will be around. Supposedly by Wed we are going to have thunderstorms and rain again...sigh.

103 this morning.  We had a high of 102° yesterday and it is supposed to be a bit warmer today at 104° and it will remain there through Wednesday then start to cool down for the holiday weekend.
Yeah I guess you are right and IBM owns both.  One of the nice things about the Wunderground site is that there are so many personal weather stations around me that post there are lots of locations all around that give you a real good idea of what is happening all over the area.  I also like the Weather Channel radar when it is rainy and yeah it is a guess when it shows the future weather it has usually been pretty close to what happens.

Surprisingly there don't appear to be many personal weather stations around me. Kind of surprised what with the weather extremes we can have especially in Winter. Only once, on the list of stations nearby, did a personal station show up and it disappeared as fast as it came.

113 this sunny morning which may turn to thunderstorms later.

81° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 91°/53° sunny warm morning, with a strong possibility of thunderstorms in afternoon and heavy rain late in day and overnight. Sheesh.

Already started arranging kitty boxes outside so all I have to do is cover with plastic (shower curtains) when rain starts.

I am starting to worry about the kitties and their upcoming spay/neuters. Will they hate me after? Will they run away? I know I have to do this and it will help the fighting among some of them, but it also kind of makes me sad. I just hope they can catch them all and also will deal with the ones that are pg again already...

90 this morning.  We had a high of 104° yesterday and it is supposed to get to 106° today and tomorrow then cooling down a lot beginning Thursday and over the weekend.  I think we are past the hottest part of the Summer but it can always heat up.
Yeah Barbara I would have thought that there would be at least a few personal weather stations around you but then it is fairly lightly populated.  I am surprised at how many there are around me here.  It is kind of neat to see what is going on nearby and around town.
I wouldn't worry about the kitties.  They will do just fine after the spay/neuters and it will be a big help.  You do not need to end up with 100 cats.

Thanks  for that! I'm a worrier...

No question I don't want to end up with 100+ cats!! I am already hoping they will abort the mamas that are already carrying now. I can't deal with another 3+ litters being added to the colony as it is!
