105 this sunny morning.

Yesterday's high was 72°, today's forecast is 82°/47* most of the showers are going to miss here so should be a nice day.

Reorganized freezer yesterday. I wish I had a place to put a small chest freezer in the house. My refrigerator one is so small.

Tomorrow begins prep for colonoscopy and endoscopy (I had forgotten that was going to be done too). The prep is worse than the procedure, but it will soon be done for 5 yrs! I asked and 80 is cut off here too so only 1 more in 5 yrs to "look forward" to!

112 this morning.  We had a high of 102° yesterday and the overnight low was 80° but it is cloudy and that holds the heat in.  It is supposed to be a bit cooler today and even a chance of scattered showers but I don't expect anything here.

115 this cool, mostly sunny morning.

Yesterday's high was 75°, today's forecast is 84°/51° and sunny.

Caught one more of the new kittens yesterday. TNR lady came and got it. I checked with her later and she said the previous 2 and addition are all snuggled up together and happy. 3 more to go, but don't think I'll even try again until Tuesday afternoon. The mamas are pretty spooked at this point.

Will be really happy when these procedures are done and I can get back just to corralling cats!

83 this morning.  We had a high of 96° yesterday and it is predicted to be 96° every day for the rest of the week.  I'll be interested to see how that turns out.
My new printer is supposed to get here today so I am anxious to get it and set it up.  I am looking forward to the tank option, I am so tired of dealing with cartridges that half of the time will not work.  I have been using cheaper third party cartridges because the MFG. cartridges are so darn expensive and often they will not be recognized by the printer and have to be thrown away.  I am hoping that I won't have to deal with that any more.
Yeah Barbara the prep the day before is the worst part.  The procedure is really not bad at all.  I know you will be glad to have it over, I was.

87 this morning.  We had a high of 97° yesterday and it is supposed to be about the same today, actually for the rest of the week.  It is partly cloudy but no chance of rain.
The new printer arrived yesterday and setup was actually quite easy.  All you have to do is follow the instructions as they are on the screen on the printer.  It is a touch screen but kind of small so touching the "keys" on the screen is kind of difficult but not impossible.  It is the same as on my older printer so I am used to it.  Filling the ink tanks is easy and the bottles are "keyed" so they only fit on the right color for each tank.  I guess earlier printers didn't have that feature and if you got the wrong color in a tank it was disastrous.  I have only printed a few things and others have claimed that this model is slow but it is faster than my other one so I am not unhappy.  I am going to be interested to see how long the ink lasts before needing to be refilled.  A complete set of ink bottles is less than a set of MFG cartridges and has way more ink so that will be a good thing and not having to do with replacing cartridges so often will be great.
Barbara is having her colonoscopy today so I imagine we will hear from her later.  Hoping it goes well.

106 this partly cloudy morning.

77° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 75°/45° with a warming trend on the way...

Still tired from yesterday, but came away with another worry. The Anesthesiologist said I have a heart murmur. I knew that from new pcp but she said it was minor and nothing to worry about. This dr (he is a well respected heart dr too) said no, it was serious and maybe stenosis (didn't get all the words). He said I need an immediate echo cardiogram to see clearly what is going on. I see pcp next Thurs. and told this dr I would talk with her and get any needed test through her. This hospital I had my procedure is not the normal one I go to.

Man, between my knee, my hands and now my heart, I think I am falling apart.

On the better side, Endoscopy showed no problems/bleeding in my stomach and only 2 polyps from colonoscopy which I will get the report on in a few days. Not expecting anything there. So a good and bad day all in all...

Well, I was told that I had a heart murmur about 12 years ago now. I had an echocardiogram then and was referred to the cardiologist I see now.  The murmur was due to stenosis of the aortic valve due to calcium build up and the cardiologist kept an eye on it for a couple of years and finally said it was time to look at replacing it.  The trans catheter valve replacement was actually pretty easy and I was sent home after only 3 days and didn't have any difficulty.  It has been over 8 years now and the valve is doing great with no problems.  I know you don't want to think about having to go through that and you may very well may not have to as it could be that the murmur will not develop into anything requiring that but if it did it isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.

Thanks Wally! I just couldn't quite wrap my head around all he was saying what with the impending colonoscopy and endoscopy staring me in the face. My new pcp said she heard a murmur but it probably was not anything to worry about. I see her Thursday next week and will discuss it with her and get a referral for the Echo.

I haven't had any of the symptoms he mentioned and have never had any problems with anesthesia.  I will do what ever the results say need to be done of course, but this just really snuck up on me!

A question for you:  When you got home, would you have been able to do everything to get by, by yourself or did you need help from some one else to say make meals, clear up...all the normal day stuff? I am alone and worry about things like that.

107 this. really cold morning. (38° when I went out to feed kitties at 7:30!)

Yesterday's high was 71°, today's forecast is 78°/42°. Last night was supposed to be the first frost in the mountains around me. I believe it going by my morning temp on the valley floor!

I have been stewing a bit about what the Anesthesiologist said yesterday. The nurse said he was a well known heart dr, but when I googled him, his degree and practice is all Anesthesiology, no mention of Cardiology at all. Yes, he may have heard something no doubt, my pcp did too, it is the severity that seems in question to me and I want a Cardiologist to give me a definitive answer. So I want my pcp to refer me to one for whatever testing is needed.

Wally, having been through this, did you feel any symptoms that led you to believe something was wrong? I just can't wrap my head around all this and don't feel any different that would worry me. Thanks!

109 this morning.  We had a high the same as the day before and it will be the same today.  I am looking forward to cooler temps next week.
Barbara, no there was never any symptoms that I felt from the murmur.  I can understand why the Anesthesiologist may have felt obligated to inform you about a murmur but I would think he would have left the decision up to your PCP as to what to do about it.  An echocardiogram is not a bad idea and it will tell exactly how it is and what needs to be done.  In my case my PCP at the time had me have an echo and it showed the fact that there was stenosis and he referred me to the cardiologist I have seen for all these years.  He kept an eye on the heart valve and when the stenosis got to a certain point, which was a couple of years later, he decided that it was time to have the replacement.
The trans catheter method that I had was not approved as a procedure at that time and it was only used for people that were too unhealthy to have the "normal" open heart procedure.  I was able to get into a trial that Cedars-Sinai had going on at the time.  My cardiologist knew the doctor that was in charge of the trial and referred me to him and I was able to get into it.  Since then this procedure has been approved and I understand it is the preferred method now.  I was able to do everything for myself after I came home and was actually approved by the doctor to go home the next day but it was on the weekend and t took an extra day for the doctor on call to release me.  It is amazing how easy it really is and all you have is two small incisions one in each leg and that is it.
I would not start to worry about what may be yet though.  At this time you don't really know if it will ever get to the point where you will ever need to have it done. It is good though that you are going to have it looked at and find out just what needs to be done.  like I said it took 2-3 years after my PCP referred me to my cardiologist before he decided it was necessary.
I think that if you felt any symptoms it would be at a very dangerous state and be an emergency.

Thanks Wally! It is good to hear from a person that has gone through it rather than a dr (and not even in this field) that says this is what it could be, and I had better do something fast. Alarmist much?

You're right, all he should have said he heard a murmur and to see my pcp for further treatment options...  which I am going to do.
